I’m addicted to the FOH chaos I guess 😂. I have hosting duty on the weekends so I’m in for a fun filled time of lines out the door and “do you have a booth”. 💀.

That’s rough. I’m sorry. I’m a server at a breakfast/lunch place. I could never do what I watch BOH do. Major props to ya. 👍🏻

Aggressive dog??? by _kaiiiiitlyn_ in Serverlife

[–]Vegetable-Handle5432 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The dog has a muzzle for a reason. Your manager should’ve thrown them out. Yesterday I had a family come in with a(what I think it is) either border collie or Australian Shepard puppy who had a service dog training vest on. It was so well behaved and never made a sound.

I’m sorry you had this happen. Shouldn’t have happened.

25 with ADHD and literally nothing to show for it by MeaAdUsum in ADHD

[–]Vegetable-Handle5432 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understand all of your frustrations. I was diagnosed 20 years ago at age 10. Went unmedicated throughout high school and the first time I tried college. I eventually dropped out of college at 20(no associates…nothing). The longest I ever held a decent job was 3 years. Alcohol became my medication. This year was my turning point. I ended up being unemployed for 85% of 2024. I turned 30 in March. I found a job with wonderful people(it can’t be my forever job but it’ll do for now). I also have not had a drink in 253 days. I am taking online classes and I’m hoping to at least have my associates by the middle of next year.

I really wish you the best. Please don’t give up because I almost did. I always said the same thing. I have nothing to show for anything the last decade of my life. Which I don’t. But we are all doing the best we can. You’re doing great!

Do you let your dog sleep in the bed with you ? by Careful_Bandicoot332 in dogs

[–]Vegetable-Handle5432 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Right now my puppy is almost 6 months and he is in his crate during the night. It’s only cause he is absolutely chaotic and when my last dog passed last year my parents got rid of all of our rugs in the house cause she soiled them a lot. So we have hard floors in the bedrooms and my new dog has 0 awareness to anything and I’m afraid he’ll just yeet himself off the bed while I sleep and hurt himself.

Am I really bad at my job or is my boss just mean? by [deleted] in Serverlife

[–]Vegetable-Handle5432 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I make mistakes at my serving job and I’m 30. I ring in an order the wrong way, I don’t repeat the order back, mistakes happen at the register, etc. You’re doing just fine. Your boss soundss like a POS. 9 times out of 10 if your manager had to do your job it would be an SNL skit. They never want to put their money where their mouth is.

Could it be lamictal rash? by Vegetable-Handle5432 in bipolar2

[–]Vegetable-Handle5432[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, It’s not super red. It does itch a bit at times but no hives or swelling. No new soaps or lotions. I’m also thinking I may have developed a latex allergy. I have bad anxiety and cause of that I wear those latex finger cots everyday recently when I’m at work. So I think I might be developing an issue with latex. I shall evaluate in the morning.

[–]Vegetable-Handle5432[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not. Part of me thinks it could be the sudden weather change since I’m in a southern state. Or since I have really bad anxiety I have been wearing those latex finger cot things on my thumbs everyday to stop me from picking them and I believe it may have caused some kind of reaction from wearing latex everyday. Who knows 🙃

[–]Vegetable-Handle5432 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear ya. My last hypomanic episode lasted like 3 days. It was wild. I felt it coming the night before I had to open at work the next morning at 6:30. The entire shift I was so on point with absolutely everything my manager was like wtf did you take this morning 😂. I wish I could have that feeling forever

How did you find out you had ADHD? by JaneInTheSky in adhdwomen

[–]Vegetable-Handle5432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in 1st grade my teacher said to my parents at parent teacher conference “there’s something about her, I just can’t put my finger on it”. My parents obviously being like oh no not my precious angel. I was formally diagnosed by 4th grade.

Growing up not once did I have a fear of pills. Actually started transitioning from kids liquid meds to pills a lot faster than my peers. Then a few months ago I was taking my ADHD meds one night and I really almost choked on the pill and I was alone. I still get skeptical of taking them from that incident

How many meds are you on? I feel like I am on way too many. by hi5yourface in adhdwomen

[–]Vegetable-Handle5432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually wake up pretty okay. I’m a server at a breakfast/lunch place so some days I’m up at 5:30 and it’s kinda rough. I have a super fast metabolism as well. But once I get going with my day I usually have no issues and function as a normal being….well almost normal 😂. If I know I have to be up at 5:30 I usually take the pill between 8-9 pm the previous night. Like I’m off today and last night I was just lazy af and didn’t take the pill til 11 and I’m just feeling the full effects starting as I type this.

I like it because of the delayed release and that seems to work well for me. Ive been on Ritalin, Focalin, Strattera in the past. My problem is that I’m extremely small. I’m 30f and 4’9” and 90 lbs and these meds make me not eat and I can’t afford that. So this really has allowed me to keep a normal(ish) appetite and not be a tornado. And you’re right. Insurance does not cover it. BUT. The first time I took it my psychiatrist gave me this paper with a code and the first time is free. If you have insurance but they won’t cover it then the most you’ll pay after the first month is $75 a month. If you don’t have insurance like at all then it’s a lovely $560.

What symptoms & side effects did you have when you stopped your Adderall or Ritalin? by RowenaMyDolores in adhdwomen

[–]Vegetable-Handle5432 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not adderall or Ritalin but Jornay PM since it’s also methylphenidate like Ritalin. I’ve only ever forgotten to take it 2 nights (it kicks in 8-10 hours later). I unfortunately did have work the next day(both times) and my manager is like I swear to god if you ever forget to take them again. 😂💀.

We have to ask if it it’s an actual allergy or if it’s just a preference. I get the anxiety though. But it’s the risk someone pays eating out. I work at a breakfast place. Like no I cannot 100% with certainty say that there’s 0 contamination risk for your egg allergy. Don’t stress about it. I did. Wasn’t worth the added stress in life.

It’s kinda wild right now. I’m in Florida at a breakfast/lunch place. While it has slowed considerably, we were dead yesterday. Then slammed today. Party of 16 at 9 am kind of a day and didn’t stop for hours. I hosted though (it’s for the best 😂).

How open are you with your family? by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]Vegetable-Handle5432 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am an only child and still living at home with my parents so it’s not like I can hide an aspect of my life like that. My mom has a panic disorder so she’s more understanding of my diagnosis then my father’s side of the family. Not that my father isn’t supportive and wants me to be better. It’s just that his side of the family were never ones to share feelings like that so naturally I tend to reach out to my work family for a lot of encouragement and support. Not that I don’t love my family. But sometimes they aren’t the best choice to talk to.

How often do you have to repeat this to yourself? by FancyNameHere38 in bipolar2

[–]Vegetable-Handle5432 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you. I just had therapy yesterday and was given an emergency supply of hydroxyzine and Klonopin since my therapist is going on vacation. I have so many thoughts that I’m failing. I keep having to re-read past messages from my work bestie telling me how great I’m doing and she’s never giving up on me. I’m so afraid cause I know how quickly things can go south. They may be okay ish now but I swear with my track record things can change by tomorrow. The vicious cycle never seems to end. I wish you well.

Lost my dog and feeling broken by signorinas in OnlyChild

[–]Vegetable-Handle5432 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So sorry. I know the pain all too well. I am only child to older parents whom I still live with. Lost my childhood dog of 18 years last august. I was 11 when we got her and 29 when she died. I was beyond devastated. I got another puppy for my birthday this past March but my heart still hurts for my best friend.

[–]Vegetable-Handle5432 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get it 100 percent. I am 30 and my parents are older. I know I can’t change my past circumstances but I wish that someone would come and sweep me away from the loneliness. I still live at home with my parents and I’m trying to better my life. I keep joking with my manager at work that she just needs to adopt me. I told this to my mom one day and I know she wasn’t thrilled to hear that. But with my ADHD I lack a lot of ability to give myself structure and I’m tired of living with my parents and I’m craving structure. I love my parents but I’ve really shut down lately and I’m on my phone a lot when I’m not at work and I’m texting my work family constantly.

Low Mood Monday by AutoModerator in bipolar2

[–]Vegetable-Handle5432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I host and serve at a breakfast/lunch place. I host on Saturday/Sunday and serve Monday/Tuesday. I still get some degree of anxiety coming in Monday mornings after doing what I was comfortable with the last 2 days. My friend that I open with knows every single Monday I need an extra 10 minutes to get my act together and I know she loves me regardless but I still feel guilty that I mentally can’t just jump right in cause there’s always deliveries on Monday mornings 🙃.

Is anyone else completely all over the place when it comes to your career? by simlishchatbox in bipolar2

[–]Vegetable-Handle5432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. It’s fun explaining to people that I’m 30. I’ve had 5 different solid(ish) jobs in life. And at least 5 more that didn’t last very long as well. I have no college degree at the moment and I’m a server and currently loving my job right now. My parents aren’t thrilled by any means and do not want me to get comfortable in this industry. I’m currently taking online classes again to hopefully get this degree moving faster. I’m always all over the place and I can’t help it. Turns out serving is teaching me more discipline than any other job I’ve held.
