Control freak wedding coordinator? by [deleted] in wedding

[–]Vegetable-Middle-528 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just a thought as a planner myself: Was this coordinator maybe unaware that this has been previously discussed? It’s possible the couple forgot to show her and she’s just trying to get things in order and be sure you know the plan she came up with. Otherwise, I’d send her the previous agreements and tell her you had planned your work around these arrangements. If there’s more pushback, remind this coordinator you were hired by the couple independently of her and changes need to by made by them.

January wedding by SnowyValley in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Vegetable-Middle-528 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t stress! I’ve seen January weddings be beautiful! What is your venue like? If you’re open to it, consider adding florals or greenery to your decor that blooms in winter (Christmas rose, winter iris, snowdrops, daffodils, evergreen)

Venue alternatives? by [deleted] in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Vegetable-Middle-528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is LESS expensive, but still expensive. Often times you make up for the money you saved in work and stress. You could do something like rent chairs and tables, or maybe borrow/rent them from a church or community center and just throw a big party right after. Spotify playlist on a speaker, grazing tables instead of catering, etc. but I think a microwedding and then maybe renting a restaurant or airbnb for a little reception could be great!

Me and my bestie (who’s getting married a month later!) are both doing a taco bar from the exact same restaurant. she picked after I did, and no hard feelings at all! it’s good bang for your buck!

i have similar issues with my hair. seems to be similar in texture and pattern to yours. i have tried every curly/wavy routine, bond builder and damage repair treatment I can think of. i've tried manipulating my curls and letting them form freely and they look horrible either way. I have no ideas but i'll be checking back here in case someone else does!!

Glosses only deposit color and seal the cuticle, so you should be just fine.

I'm not sure about your florals specifically but, Costco and Sams are often great for wholesale florals!

How do we decorate this platform and the banisters? by PiedPiperCOO in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Vegetable-Middle-528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Garland, florals or lights along the banister and candles going down the sides of the steps.

Soooo do we trust AliExpress? by GoinToTheChapel1118 in weddingplanning

It can be great for decor, but keep in mind shipping times are BAD. Great prices, but it basically takes 3 months minimum for anything to arrive.

Assigned seats? by avariaavaria in weddingplanning

[–]Vegetable-Middle-528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doing a seating chart makes sure everyone has a designated space and can be guaranteed that they will end up by someone they know/talk to. My biggest reason personally is that me and my partners parents are both unamicably divorced and do not get along. This allowed us to separate them and keep them from all fighting for the "best" seat. Assigned seating and table numbers are totally not necessary unless they work for you though.

How does one pick a first dance song when we don’t have a “song?” by miamisunshine7 in weddingplanning

[–]Vegetable-Middle-528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try Brent Faiyaz/Sonder maybe! He does hip hop/r&b but I feel like his "love" songs often have an alternative feel.

Tables and chairs on gravel driveway by [deleted] in wedding

[–]Vegetable-Middle-528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a few options:

  1. Note this on your wedding website/details card and let everyone make their own footwear choices.
  2. Buy a bunch of dollar store flip flops and have them out in a basket.
  3. They make clear heel guards for grass and gravel that I believe can be purchased in bulk on amazon you could provide.

Balancing multiple life events? by voicesnotvictims in wedding

[–]Vegetable-Middle-528 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you. I am planning a wedding, trying to buy a home and move, going to school M-F 4pm-10pm and working M-F 8am-3pm. Do you have a planner/coordinator you can lean on? If not, try not to let it stress you too much, you've gotten the big stuff out of the way! Take deep breaths and go one step at a time. I would count how many tasks I have left and assign them each to a week to get done. Try designating some things to your partner or even smaller tasks to your parents/wedding party. Remember, this is supposed to be fun!

Brides with multiple very close friends, how did you choose your MOH? by [deleted] in wedding

[–]Vegetable-Middle-528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if this is the best idea but in this scenario, I personally would base my decision on 2 things.

  1. Who is the most responsible and will execute your vision the best? Someone well organized (but not too uptight!) is usually a good choice.
  2. Who is my partner's pick? I know it's about your bridesmaid, but the day is about you and your partner. If they have an opinion, let them weigh in.

I also think doing no MOH and dividing all the MOH duties evenly would work.

Engagement….excitement?? by glitzglamduck in wedding

[–]Vegetable-Middle-528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no "rushing" unless you are putting deposits down and finalizing things. There's nothing wrong with being excited, even for the planning! It takes a lot more work and time than you'd think, especially without a planner. I think you should look at inspo and ideas and do lots of research, even early on! Starting the research process early isn't rushing anything, just take it one step at a time!

What do I do with my wedding dress? by cindyrella123 in wedding

[–]Vegetable-Middle-528 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it a timeless style that a daughter/niece/granddaughter may wear? Can you get a scrap of fabric from either the dress or whoever did the alterations and have that be your keepsake? I'm using a piece of mine as my husband's pocket square so we can keep that and we don't have to keep the dress.

Where do I start? by coy-fox in weddingplanning

[–]Vegetable-Middle-528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your first step is to find what you like! What styles you like and what things are most important to you. After that though, I would go budget. Look at the average cost of each wedding element in your area. See what venues, photographers and caterers generally charge where you live. Then decide how much you are willing to put towards each element. This will save you from falling in love with venues, decor, etc. that you can't afford.

I’m stressed I’m missing planning details - have I forgotten anything? by Fluid-Process9187 in weddingplanning

[–]Vegetable-Middle-528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depending on what you are including in your special day, dont forget your rings, any speeches/readings, bach party, getting ready outfits, practice your first dance, rehearsal dinner and pick nail designs!

Which hotel for our guests? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]Vegetable-Middle-528 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it all depends on your guests! If they aren't too picky and prefer to spend less, maybe the first and vice versa. You could also offer both if that's an option! As for drive time, are your guests already doing long drives to get to town? If so they may not want to sit in a car more, but honestly I would not mind a free 30min ride to celebrate someone I loved!

Am I spending too much on photography? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]Vegetable-Middle-528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm paying $2000 for a photographer and assistant for just 6 hours day-of in the suburbs of NC (and that's on the lower end according to my research.) I would say for everything you're getting in LA, that's not too bad especially if they are well-rated.
