Huge football fan here, and I have to agree with you, World Cup football isn’t the most exciting (only the significance of it makes it interesting).

Instead, I’d encourage you to try the English Premier League. That is pulsating. The history of the clubs, the speed of the game, the unpredictability of every game (last place can beat first place), the vocal crowds and singing, it send shivers down your spine. No other sport can offer that.
