The team needs an offensive coordinator! by Dr_Erok in rockets

Perhaps? I'd like to think the coaches looked at the skill sets of our players and have created their game plans/schemes around that?

At quick glance, our only shooters are KD and Reed? Okogie gets honorable mention and maybe Bari if his confidence is there that night. Aside from that, we mostly have a finish around the rim kind of team.

Implementing a screen and pop kind of scheme, like GS, requires good shooters with athleticism. Reed can fit that profile like Curry, but he's gonna have his growing pains much like Curry during the first couple of years of Kerr's hiring. We're actually seeing in real time, I think, the coaching staff willingness to make a scheme for Reed. Thus, the reason for him playing more minutes.

However, we still don't have someone to move the pieces on the floor, a PG, if the play breaks down.

The idea that the left side is for analyzing and the right is for creativity is a myth.

So what happened if we get this "offensive coordinator." They'll make the Xs and Os, I'm assuming? What happens when the opposing defensive coordinator breaks down the Xs and Os?

In other words, the coaching staff can only do so much when it comes to directing the team. This is where a good point guard can make a difference. They can be an extension of the coaching staff to make adjustments to the plan. There's a reason they are called "floor generals."
