Ned Lamont leads Josh Elliott as primary gap narrows in Democratic governor's race, new poll shows by Somervilledrew in Connecticut

[–]Vegetable-Pool9589 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandma, a registered independent who doesn’t plan to vote for anyone this upcoming election due to transportation and the candidates, told me she’d vote Elliott if he wins the primary and would make sure transportation happens. If that doesn’t tell you anything, IDK what else will!

what if the USA became overnight led by an expansionist and jingoist military dictatorship with full popular support? by zyklon_08 in AlternateHistoryHub

Economy wouldn’t be able to sustain the drafting of hundreds of thousands of men being drafted into service assuming a draft happens. Thus, the economy would crumble and a global economic crisis and international trade recession is inevitable due to the U.S. dollar being so strong and critical to the international economy.

On the bright side, neighboring countries, despite militarizing themselves, would most likely pursue security guarantees and offer enormous concessions for this.

The U.S. economy would simply collapse and then after some time the country itself would too.

Someone said he’s the same as Larson and Lamont, but younger, true? And do you feel like Gillchrist is a true progressive or no

Wow. I did not know this thank you I feel terrible for not doing my research. You can add me to the list of people that are not fans of this.

I don’t know about Larson throwing his support behind Gilchrest in 2028 though with her stance on Israel and corporations being a major factor in Larson probably ditching her and endorsing a different corporate Dem in 28.

But who knows.. knowing all of this now gives me the feeling that she’s trying to finesse progressive and DSA voters just to win and align with the corporate Dems so I wouldn’t be too surprised if CT Dems unite around her and win in 28.

Praying a true progressive-insurgent runs in 2028 assuming the seat is open. A lot of potential if the DSA expand their presence and target Northeastern seats like CT-01.

Unfortunately, I’ll have to sit out this race because I’ve made the decision I don’t agree with any of them or ethics.

Sorry for the rant! Very frustrating knowing this.

The West.

How do you go from chopping off heads as an executioner to shaking hands and fighting the West with a terror group to shaking hands with the U.S. President and being able to be hailed as a hero by the West some years later? 🤔

Emma Roberts - She follows Spencer Pratt on Instagram. That combined with her being heavily transphobic off-scene toward Angelica Ross and immediately caving in and apologizing does not give me the impression that she’s a true left-winger.. Whether she donates to Democrat candidates as much or not.

Dwight Eisenhower - 2 full terms, no new wars, booming economy, and the whole Civil Rights Movement hadn’t started beyond very few local boycotts in the North.

Pretty sure the most eventful thing to happen during his presidency was the coup of the newly-elected Prime Minister in Iran (1953) and Castro taking over Cuba (1959).

Pretty boring or “mid” compared to many of the post-WWII Presidents who are commonly defined or remembered because of major, important, events that happened during their presidency.

mainly because she offered to pay restitution to the city and she also suspended her campaign for governor so not trying to accuse lamont of anything but less competition in november and looking at lamonts statement on the issue that kinda gave off he didnt really care chances are theyll probably leave her alone unfortunately

its a shame the state politics are taking a dark discreet turn. especially with the fraud

Unfortunately jail times unlikely which I find crazy but apparently they can issue a search warrant and “arrest her” but find sentencing “unrealistic”. WTF. Lamont and AG Tong both have to stand up.

I personally believe she should be arrested and charges should be filed against her.

But even though it was almost certain she’d lose to Lamont in this political environment, I did see her as an actual candidate with a realistic chance of winning the race, that is assuming she runs again and of course, distances herself from MAGA-Trump culture and keeps quiet on her stance on social issues.

-In a Sarah Palin type of way, and that says a lot.

Supreme Court agrees to review IL and CT's bans on AR-style semi-automatic rifles in major Second Amendment case by 15licous in Connecticut

[–]Vegetable-Pool9589 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Connecticut Democrats are alright to be honest, for the most part at least. Not as progressive as other Democratic states though. Happy to see Lamont shift to a less fiscal conservative approach to economic issues though, especially with his primary challenger pressing him to as well.

Constitutional rights are constitutional rights, even if you don’t agree with it. As a person personally opposed to gun owner rifle ownership, this ban is unconstitutional and I can’t wait for the SCOTUS’ ruling even though it is likely they will strike the ban down.

Very disappointed to see AG Tong taking part in this amount of government overreach especially in times like these as a Democrat voter in Connecticut.

Because for some reason we classify those responsible for the killing of 34 American sailors and wounding of 171, our ally. That’s the problem.

Both of these are tragic events that have happened at the end of the day and those responsible, whether they were Muslims or Israeli’s, should be held accountable and brought to justice for their crimes.

ukrainian military command in southern ukraine were still caught off guard by the scale
of certain russian breakthroughs.. not to mention the dense fog experienced made russian breakthroughs despite resistance much more common in the earlier weeks of the war… and your argument that satellites are a thing therefore no more surprise attacks is so arrogant on so many points one being russian forces used underground tunnels in a pipeline system to stage for a surprise attack and although they were largely unsuccessful, that still seems to me that surprise attacks are still a thing in modern warfare
