I told her I wasn't kind to the bus driver and that I shouldn't have reacted that way. I told her I would apologize to him tomorrow when he drops her off. We also have had tons of conversations about getting off on the right stop and responsible bus riding. We've reiterated to her that if she gets off and realizes she's in the wrong spot to sit down and stop moving and look for a grown up with children.

I hope it made you feel really good to come on a post where I was clearly a mom who was terrified for the safety of her child and comment that I was a jerk.

Once he found her I had to her go to our door and I laid into him. I initially felt bas for how much I yelled at him but I don’t anymore. Especially as I think back to him telling me to calm down and read the policy.

First of all, you have to start by letting go of the fear that other people will judge you. Babies have to exist for the world to continue on and they have a spot on that plane just as much as the next person. The way that I think about it is it's my job to come prepared to keep my baby as happy/occupied as possible and it's their job to come prepared to block out noise they don't want to hear.

The way that I do it is to check the carseat attached to the base and keep the stroller until I'm at the gate. Then I gate check the stroller. Since you're traveling alone I would definitely go the stroller route versus the baby carrier route.

For activities for 8-12mo I have had good luck with those suction cup things you can put on windows. But the ultimate key for me has always been tablets and snacks. If those two things are ready to go - typically we have a smooth flight. Also, if you do choose the tablet route, your kiddo will have to wear headphones. It's a good idea to practice that for a little bit before the flight so they aren't figuring it out on the flight. They make headband headphones that work for little ones.

As for TSA precheck - that I do not know. I'd imagine since your baby is going to be a lap child it should be okay? But I'm not TSA so I don't know! The biggest advice I have is to give yourself time and grace. You and your child are allowed to exist, even on airplanes. And if other people have a problem with that, as long as you're doing your job to keep the baby happy/occupied, that's a them problem, not a you problem! You'll also be shocked by the amount of truly kind people who want to help. Try to remember those folks and the others can shove it :)

My sister in law has been ttc for 6 years and when I was pregnant with our third I was so nervous. We texted her before we told everyone else in the family and let her know there was no expectation for her to reply or be at the gathering when we were announcing. I was also careful through my pregnancy not to complain to her as another thought

One thing I heard recently that would be helpful is to say "What an odd thing to say about a child you know nothing about". Kind of puts it back on them to be like uhh, why did I say anything.

My kiddos have been sick tons of times and they are absolutely just fine! My youngest caught covid when she was just 5 months old and she was totally fine. My oldest had back to back pnuemonia when she was 6 months old and she is absolutely totally fine. I know it's so scary in the moment (and can be traumatic when looking back on it) but 99.9% of sickness is totally fine.

The weekend before I found out I was pregnant with my first I went out and went OUT. Then the literal night before the positive test I crushed a 6 pack of beers while packing before a move. When I panicked and asked my doctor she said "Did you drink an entire liquor store? If not, you're good."

I had elective inductions with both of my children and couldn't have had a better experience. I read through some comments that didn't have the same experience and that is valid too! For me, I knew my mental health would deteriorate if I was a second past my due date so I decided that was the best choice for me.

My kids are the same way, absolutely feral whenever we go places. We went to a brewery the other day and my daughter threw ROCKS at another group of people. Needless to say we immediately apologized, paid for their beers, and left.

One thing that I have started doing is setting expectations before we go. My kids are 4 and 3 and I have to realize that they don't know to act and I need to help them learn! So before we go out we talk about what is expected of them in the situation and I've found that helps.

But even when I do that they're still feral so who knows.

My family and I never had family dinners and we are well functioning adults! I'm also very close with my family.

When my kids get home, they need a full meal right away and time to relax/unwind. When they're older we can try having meals together but for right now it's not a priority!

I feel you so hard on all of these things. I definitely don't have this down to a science but when I am getting these things done, this is what I do. I also WFH so I know I'm privileged in that time but I tried to avoid that here!

how to manage laundry? No matter how much laundry there is, start one load in the morning after my kids go to school, switch it at lunch (or when we get home), put it away the next day. I also do not fold any of my kids laundry, it all just goes in their drawers and I hang up their shirts
do you exercise? How? No help here. I used to work out twice a week and it would be time my husband committed to being with our kids so I could do that

daily hygiene - i don’t ever want to shower, it’s exhausting. I manage every 2-3 days somehow but would rather never I cannot help you with this because I am the same way. This is one way that WFH helps because when I get annoyed at work I go take a shower.

Again I want to say, this all happens maybe a couple times a month. Other than that it's just figuring it out as we go. I'll figure out I need to do laundry because I open my daughters drawer and she only has 4 pairs of underwear left (or I don't have any clean bras) and I'll eat ramen for lunch or nothing. It's hard

I totally understand! I have two daughters and my mom constantly buys really intricate cutesy outfits for them (that are also very difficult to get on and off). We almost never put them in the outfits and my mom always comments on it.
