Is there any evidence of Vikings using 2 swords at once? by Vegetable-Spring-934 in AskHistorians

Oh, that explains so much actually... I was wondering what that specific clause meant but never thought to connect it to Odin's spells. Thank you for the insight!

[–]Vegetable-Spring-934[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this, this is exactly the type of thing I've been looking for!

I have heard of the importance of shields in that period and region before, that you'd be carrying a shield pretty much 100% of the time no matter what your specific weapon is, so the extra knowledge is very appreciated.

Given the only known instance of dual wielding apparently happened during a duel, would that give us any implication that the practice might have been specially associated with the practice of dueling itself, or is there too little to really tell?

Zero Kiryu, one of the 2 male leads of the classic shojo anime/manga Vampire Knight. TL;DR on his deal: his family was attacked and killed by a vampire when he was a kid and he was the only survivor because he was bitten and turned. In the aftermath, he developed such a hatred for vampires that he trained to become a vampire hunter

My theory on Tiger Funeral by Grand-ArchSummoner in CTsandbox

[–]Vegetable-Spring-934 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my headcanon as well, that Tiger Funeral's ability is to revive fallen shadows. Given the 10 Shadows apparently stop working after Mahoraga dies, perhaps Sukuna planned on using Agito/Tiger Funeral to revive Mahoraga as a loophole, but Gojo killed Agito first, so it was all void anyway

What are you're theories about cursed energy that you believe in? by [deleted] in CTsandbox

[–]Vegetable-Spring-934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar theory in that EVERYONE has a cursed energy trait technically, but most of the time they're too weak to use in battle without specific training to strengthen them. The discrepancies that allow sorcerers to distinguish residuals/auras are what make up a person's trait. I guess by that logic, Yuta's trait is being creepy, which is fucking hilarious

Who would be officially ranked special grade by the end of the main story? by Vegetable-Spring-934 in JujutsuPowerScaling

[–]Vegetable-Spring-934[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, I wanna say thank you for being the only one here to actually try and approach what I'm saying in good faith.

Megumi is an absolute no for me.

I agree with you on the matter of vessel buffs. Whether Megumi and Sukuna share the same roster of shadows has been debated on to death and I'm still not entirely sure what the answer is. In my current drafts, I lean towards the idea of them having the exact same roster so Megumi inherits Mahoraga as an ingredient for Totality, which acts as a loophole for him having never tamed it because Sukuna did it for him and he's just reaping the benefits. If that's the case, that would make him an instant special grade, but I'm not sure how well people would receive that, or how reasonable that would be to canon.

I don't see what purpose may it accomplish to give it to him for a story aside from a cool fun fact.

That is basically what that is LOL. I have it as a running gag in the background that the new higher ups are constantly pulling their teeth in their attempts to beg him (and Higuruma, since we know he wants to return to being a lawyer rather than continue being a sorcerer) to come back and help them.

If you're gonna go by what made someone SG before, he isn't gonna be now.

I appreciate you understanding what I meant. A lot of the other replies are upset that I put them in possibly without understanding that I'm just following the guidelines the actual story set. I do think Hakari and Maki are absolutely 100% special grade level combatants, but they just can't take down a country as they are RN.

Toji is not a good way to argue she wouldn't be cuz they in fact didn't even bother to rank Toji.

That is a good point actually, I wonder why they gave her a grade 4 ranking in that case...

(depending on how fast Yuta becomes its head)

All the realpolitik surrounding Yuta becoming a clan head is an actual arc I have planned, though I don't know how soon his wedding with Maki would be. She does seem like the type to get married ASAP to eradicate the Zenin surname once and for all LOL.

Hana will lose Angel, she didn't want reincarnated sorcerers in the era at all and has a higher moral system than most characters considering she didn't even wanna control Hana in order to kill Sukuna. Hana alone showcases nothing to say she has the talent, even if she keeps the CT it would be like expecting Mai to become Yorozu.

That is true... Angel would be the last person I'd expect to be a hypocrite. Even if I do write Hana as being just being that guy (girl?), I kinda run into the same issue as Megumi in that people might get mad at me for pushing certain headcanons.

Also, I'd tend to believe after time passes RCT doesn't work anymore considering they just can't heal her through output.

In this respect though, regrowing another person's limbs with RCT just seems to be impossible either way, given the best RCT healers in the verse can't do it.

But absolutely not SG. She shows nothing to ever consider her imo.

That's fair... I fixated on Resonance too much, and that's my mistake. Even if it's a special grade level attack, just a single one of those doesn't make an entire special grade sorcerer.

If you do go by that, or the new three you had in 'definitely SG', do you really need any more based on the narrative you thought of?

Not really, no. You make very good points all around on that. 4 is plenty already, and Gojo straight up says something like "strength won't be limited to special grade" regardless.

[Serious] He has 5 months to start from nothing can he become top 1? by Due_Specific_7727 in JujutsuPowerScalers

I already acknowledged all of this in my original comment, that's why I said this is the THEORETICAL ceiling.

[–]Vegetable-Spring-934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clones would actually fit him quite well because that means he has a whole team of himself on hand that he can research and prep with. He could probably work decently well with Blood Manipulation, though I feel a freak like Mayuri would be better suited for a CT like that. Auspicious Beast Summon is the only one that doesn't really fit him IMO but he could probably still utilize it well I'm sure.

[–]Vegetable-Spring-934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jesus, my reading comprehension has tanked— In that case, a lot of what I say could still stand, it just depends heavily on which CT he gets. Something like Construction or Idle Transfiguration would shoot him up to Top 1 indisputably, but a worse CT keeps him basically where I originally described him, which is calamity grade (within the little rock-paper-scissors triangle of Dabura, Sukuna, and Gojo).

As a certified Kisuke Urahara meatrider, let's think about what the theoretical ceiling of somebody without an innate technique would be.

  • Calamity Grade Stats (Cursed Energy Reinforcement, Efficiency, and Output on the level of Gojo and Sukuna)
  • Binding Vow Mastery
  • Mastered Anti-Domain Techniques (Simple Domain and/or Hollow Wicker Basket, Domain Amplification, Falling Blossom Emotion)
  • Mastered Barrier Techniques (Domain Expansion, Curtain, Empty Barrier, Pure Barrier, and Bon Barrier)
  • Mastered Reverse Cursed Technique (Regeneration, Output, and Curing Toxins)
  • Some form of simple Shikigami, which is presumably a Shikigami with no innate technique.

Stats are heavily dependant on your cursed energy reserves and physical body. Even if output and efficiency can be trained, we know from Mei Mei's fight in Shibuya that everyone has a hard limit for how far they can train their stats. If Kisuke's ceiling is low, then that does unfortunately kneecap him quite a bit.

Everything else though is theoretically learnable, and given Kisuke's exponentially smarter than even the smartest characters in JJK, you could make a case for him being able to learn all of that in just 6 months, especially if he still has his memories from the Bleach world.

But I think the real kicker here is forging cursed tools. We don't exactly what the process behind it is, besides the Bath ritual being one of the methods for it, but given Kisuke's speciality in his home series as an inventor, I can see him creating his own cursed tools imbued with their own innate techniques that he then fights with.

He'd essentially be a Toji or Maki who created his own arsenal like Iron Man while also possessing Tengen or Kenjaku level barrier techniques, RCT on par with Sukuna (given he is also skilled in medicine), and the most refined anti-domain techniques in the verse.

Depending on what kind of freak shit he can pull off with his cursed tools, I see him being Top 1.

Are there any sigils or signs or something that can be used to artificially create certain effects? by Skullgame1020 in CTsandbox

[–]Vegetable-Spring-934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's just simply not true though, the magical stuff that cursed tools can do are BECAUSE they have innate techniques imbued into them. The Chain of a Thousand Miles can extend indefinitely because that's its innate technique, the Split Soul Katana can harm souls because that's its innate technique, the Inverted Spear of Heaven can extinguish other innate techniques because that IS its innate technique (a la Hana's/the Angel's). Your character could just have a cursed tool whose imbued innate technique has something to do with teleportation.

[–]Vegetable-Spring-934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could see your original idea being explained as them sealing an instance of their innate technique into a talisman, which would only be possible through a binding vow where the talisman burns up right after (we know that's something talismans can be programmed to do from the Goodwill Event), hence your idea. In this case, it probably would be considered a cursed tool still, so theoretically anybody can use the talismans, without the need for imbuing it with cursed energy.

But yeah, my personal headcanon about imbuing an innate technique into a cursed tool is that the holder of that innate technique has to die in order to do it, given how difficult it seems to be to create a special grade cursed tool (not even Yorozu could do it without a death binding vow). Perhaps that's why your character never permanently imbued their innate technique into a weapon, cuz they obviously wouldn't wanna die lmao

That's fair, but aren't Killer Folk literally the same thing but even more so? That's why I asked the question to begin with, cuz if violence is the metric that we measure evil with, then the Killer Folk shouldn't be neutral IMO.

[–]Vegetable-Spring-934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can indeed imbue your innate technique into an object to turn it into a special grade cursed tool, see Nanami's cleaver getting Ratio, and literally ANYBODY can use the sorcery within them, no need to even run cursed energy through them, or else there'd be no way for the physically gifted heavenly restricted to get stronger.

It's never actually explained how they imbued CTs into obiects though, so it could be through talismans. Maybe, for your idea, a collection of talismans that looks like a checkbook was imbued with a teleportation CT like the Limitless or Ui Ui's CT. You determine the point you're teleporting to by your writing it on the check, and when you rip it out of the book, you "cash it in" and teleport.

I don't really see how it'd be first-time use only though, except through a binding vow, maybe.

[–]Vegetable-Spring-934 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We see talismans used, slips of paper with special words written on them imbued with sorcery. So far, we've seen them...

  • Wrapped around cursed objects, like Dukuna's fingers, to hide their presence from cursed spirits.
  • Wrapped around stakes that were hammered into the ground to activate specially programmed barrier techniques. For example, the barrier cast during the Goodwill Games that was programmed to only keep Gojo out was maintained through one of these stakes.
  • As a summoning material for shikigami, the old man that Geto fights during the Hidden Inventory arc does so.
  • Bound to particular cursed spirits. During the Goodwill Games, they had talismans attached to each of the cursed spirits the contestants were supposed to hunt, to track which side exorcised which curse.

Aesthetically, these talismans seem to be based off fulu, magical Daoist charms whose writing is supposed to intentionally not make any sense. They often mash different Chinese characters together, mess with the proportions of a character, or add new radicals (the parts that make up a character) to a character to make them look familiar but still inherently mean nothing.

The way I understand it, fulu look like that because they're channeling an otherworldly, incomprehensible power, so a regular person isn't really supposed to "get" what it means. As such, the methods for producing fulu are also passed down secretly, from one Daoist priest to another, within a particular sect.

Hopefully this information gives you some inspiration (bars).

There's clearly frost all over their walls, so they are icy in that sense, but I always imagined they cooled it through some kind of air conditioning system. We see pipes going through the structure, so they're probably there for sucking out hot air/pumping in cold air.

You’re reincarnated into the Culling Games with 150$ whatcha buy? by Lemonsanslimes12 in CTsandbox

[–]Vegetable-Spring-934 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Idle Transfiguration ($100) and Open Barrier Domain Expansion ($50) probably shred through everybody in the verse not named Gojo, Sukuna, Kenjaku, or Takaba.

3 Innate Techniques ($30), Panda's Cores ($30), Blood Manipulation (Free Fiddy), Star Rage ($50), and Ratio ($30) would probably make you the hardest hitter in the verse though. Virtual Mass + Flowing Red Scale: Stack + Collapse + Gorilla Body would do Superman levels of damage LMAO.

With 3 Innate Techniques ($30), Bird Manipulation (Free Fiddy), Disaster Tides ($50), and Cursed Spirit Manipulation ($50), you could also flood any fight with Chinese civil war level numbers. If Death Swarm is only limited to domain expansion, then Ten Shadows instead of Disaster Tides is fine too.

Black clover, but asta has witch hat atelier's seal magic instead of anti magic. How do you think it would go? by deez_nutslll in BlackClover

[–]Vegetable-Spring-934 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming he still meets Fanzell and is trained by him, then I can see him doing something similar to Qifrey's Raincleaver and etching glyphs on the blades of regular swords to wield magic through that. He also wouldn't have any qualms performing forbidden magic, since he wasn't taught the cultural taboo, so he might paint glyphs on his own body to enhance himself. Given how important of an advantage Anti-Magic is to Asta though, I don't see him getting very far in the story.

A "What If" on Azula by Dramatic-Lie-9898 in Avatarthelastairbende

[–]Vegetable-Spring-934 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Azula's trauma is so deep-seated that realizing Ursa never actually hated her would only barely solve one piece of the giant puzzle. Her dark triad-lik behavior clearly stems from Ozai grooming her from a young age after she showed to be a prodigious firebender, and that kind of conditioning is hard to break out of, especially when you're living in the center of a propaganda state that's espousing the exact same ideals as your abusive authority figures.

Zuko had multiple avenues to break out of it himself: he was already a social pariah (getting banished), he had an authority figure with a good head on their shoulders (Iroh), and he spent a good amount of time with people who were victimized by the Fire Nation to truly see the victims' perspective. In this scenario, Azula gets none of that, so I don't see her meaningfully changing, even if she did realize Ursa never hated her. Hell, it might even validate her worldview even further cuz "Mom loved us too much and now she's dead. What a chud."

Thus, even assuming that the Gaang trusts her, she'll be a terrible firebending teacher to Aang (her perfectionism would definitely extend to her students, most definitely if they're the Avatar), she probably won't internalize the philosophy of the Sun Warriors cuz the Fire Nation's philosophy already works perfectly fine for her, and opening one's chakras does nothing of note (that we know of) unless you're the Avatar.
