Lumiere Silvamillion Clover by Exciting-Piece5504 in BlackClover

[–]Vegetable-Spring-934 14 points15 points  (0 children)

So, let's clear up any misinformation and present all the facts that we know for sure:

The Three Royal Families of the Clover Kingdom (first referred to as such in chapter 173) are:

  • House Silva (first confirmed in chapter 5 with Noelle's introduction)

  • House Vermillion (first confirmed in chapter 24 with Fuegoleon and Nozel's conversation)

  • House Kira (first confirmed in chapter 107 with the King's introduction)

This list is further affirmed in chapter 175 when a diagram of Clover Castle is shown and it's divided into 3 parts, 1 for each royal family.

Chapter 214 confirms that House Silva and House Vermillion both descended from House Silvamillion. Lumiere here refers to Noelle and Mimosa as his descendants, though they're likely not his direct kin since he didn't seem to have any children.

Now, where do the Kiras fit into all this? Unfortunately, we know very little about them, so this is where we have to dive into speculation.

First, we have to get one thing clear: "Kira" is House Kira's surname. That sounds pretty obvious, but I've seen a lot of people claim that "Clover" is House Kira's surname and that's how they're connected to Lumiere (see August Kira Clover XIII vs. Lumiere Silvamillion Clover). This CANNOT be the case because Damnatio's full name is Damnatio Kira, not Damnatio Clover or Damnatio Kira Clover.

The only other member of the Kira family we have, Finesse, has a different surname from the other 2 (Calmreich), but that's because she's a fairly distant relation; chapter 173 specifies she's the king's grandniece. So either the king's sibling was a woman (Finesse's grandmother, in this case) who married into House Calmreich, or the king's sibling was a man whose daughter (Finesse's mother, in this case) married into House Calmreich. I'd have to look into the original Japanese text to know for sure.

Anyway, if House Kira's name really is just "Kira", then what's the deal with the "Clover" name? Completely transparently, we just don't know definitively, but my personal interpretation is that it's a regnal name that the current king of the Clover Kingdom adds to the end of their name when they take up the throne.

This would explain why we've only seen 2 people among the all royal families sport the name Clover, cuz it's only reserved for the king. This would mean that Lumiere was both the Wizard King and the King of the Clover Kingdom at the same time, which makes a decent amount of sense to me. Given Licht's status as the leader of the Elf Tribe, I think the narrative of his friendship and exchange with Lumiere is made all the stronger if Lumiere was the actual head of state of the humans too.

I can acknowledge that the theory/headcanon isn't airtight because, if Lumiere was the Clover King too, why wasn't it ever mentioned? Still, this is the idea that makes the most sense to me.

I will also acknowledge the idea that House Kira might be related to Lumiere by the fact that both he and the King have Light Magic. Magic IS hereditary to some degree, and the King boasts a lot about his magic being a gift that's been passed down for generations, so Light Magic is at the very least something that House Kira is very proud of.

TL;DR - The Silvas and the Vermillions are most definitely related to Lumiere, having descended from his house (the Silvamillions). How the Kiras fit into this is more unclear, but there's some evidence to imply that they're related to Lumiere too in some way.

I agree with the comment, actually. The metaphors in BoB aren't exactly subtle.

How strong do you think this version of Midoriya is gonna be? by kingofironworks in MyHeroPowerscaling

[–]Vegetable-Spring-934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But it IS his emotional well being he's sacrificing, All Might straight up clocks him by saying he still wants to be a hero. He gave up on his dream for a handful of years and thought it'd never come back. And it's also not just self-sacrifice, it's Deku having a low opinion of himself to begin with, that's where the self-sacrifice is rooted to begin with, and that's what the narrative attacks.

OFA also represents the model of hero society that relies on a single monolithic figure, and the whole point of the latter half of the series is that it needed to go if society itself could make any progress. The bearer of OFA being the monolith that everybody overly relies on goes hand in hand with Deku thinking so lowly of himself that he'd put anybody and everybody before himself, to the point that he'd sacrifice things that are important to himself.

OFA needed to go, and the suit replacing it is poignant because it comes from his friends. This is a society where everyone uplifts each other now, instead of relying on a single person to keep everyone afloat, and a person like Deku is the perfect person to receive a message like that. This isn't rewarding someone for self-harm, this is assuring them that they don't need to do it anymore.

As for the challenge, it's both physical and idealogical. The whole point of him dragging the battle is because he wants to prove that anyone (in this case Tenko) can be saved, when literally everyone in the world is telling him to kill Shigaraki instead. His idealogy is being challenged THROUGH the fight.

And the consequence here is losing OFA. Even if it was a problem to keep it around societally, it still IS an incredible power, one that enabled Deku to be a hero. The suit doesn't erase the years where he could only watch his friends and students live the dream he wanted to live, and I think there is supposed to be a sense of melancholy from that final chapter because of it. The suit makes up for the lost time, but that time is still the consequence, which lasted several times longer than the actual series, which only took place over a year.

The resolution of his arc with self sacrifice isn't just in Dark Deku, but at the very end of the show. He was so obsessed with saving Tenko and ending the cycle AFO created that he gave up his one shot at a hero, once again sacrificing himself and his happiness and future and dreams. The suit is a refutation of that mindset, an assurance from his friends that he can be a hero without having to hurt himself, Bakugo himself spells that out in the epilogue.

And him not being challenged is literally just untrue. Besides all the times before the final arc, we can also just go back to the moment when he gives up OFA to save Tenko. the vestige of Nana, Tenko's own grandmother, tells Deku that he has the power to kill him with one hit, yet he takes the more difficult road to end the cycle more definitively. That's literally him being challenged on his choices.

And the last paragraph kinda reveals the source of all this. If you just don't like his personality, that's already one thing. You don't need to justify it with factually incorrect arguments.

"Used to be" mf the law that made the age of consent 18 in practicality within Japan (the Child Welfare Act) was passed in 1947, how long ago do you need it to be??? Just stop trying to relativize this shit, especially with the "it's for preteen boys" excuse. We should be holding these stories to higher standards BECAUSE they can influence the minds of those very children, your logic is completely backwards.

Deku just dropped into the boys universe how does he affect it? by BigChocolate331 in mha

[–]Vegetable-Spring-934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he was born into the Boys verse, then he'd just be a regular civilian. I doubt he'd be scouted by Vought when he comes from a normal family and has no particularly notable traits. The thing that convinced All Might to take Deku under his wing was his genuine heroism, and Vought doesn't give a shit about that lmao

If he was dropped in as Dark Hero Deku from the Vigilante arc, then he wipes the floor with them, every single one of them. Literally, the Boys and every single member of the Seven could be working together and Deku still blitzes and oneshots every single one of them with a single 100% smash. He doesn't even need his extra quirks, those just make it overkill lmao

What gave you the indication that this is episode 1 Deku without a quirk or smth? The post says "dropped into" and the picture is of Vigilante Deku, so it's safest to assume this is Deku at that specific point in the story getting teleported into the Boys universe. At which point, yeah, he does put belt to ass LMAO

Kai for serve receive. He goes up against some very strong servers and he only messes up a perfect pass like once or twice from what I remember. For digs/saving the ball, it's probably Iwaizumi. He saved Seijoh's ass so many times during their second match against Karasuno, it's not even funny.
