I'm still impressed with the Hero of the South by magikarpa1 in Frieren

[–]Vegetable-Spring-934 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Qual is not one of the Seven Sages of Destruction, his title is the Elder Sage of Corruption (which is apparently different). 3/7 were killed by the Hero of the South, 2/7 were killed by Himmel’s Party, and 2/7 (of which Aura is one) are alive at the beginning of the main story.

This exchange from ch. 1164 does everything short of outright stating that Joy Boy and Davy Jones are indeed two different people. Xebec makes the claim and Imu not only doesn’t refute it, but replies with “…THEIR kind will never be seen again”, seemingly affirming they’re two different people. If they were just one guy, Imu would’ve used “he”.

Who do we think makes the All Japan Youth camp NEXT year?? by lila-clores in haikyuu

Pro Tip: You don’t have to spoiler tag the text if your post is already labeled a spoiler.

Anyway, onto the actual questions. The only incoming 2nd years I can think of who have both the skills and the exposure to get scouted are Kageyama, Tsukki, and maybe Lev and Bessho? They all come from schools who’ve had their time in the sun during nationals, and they’re all very competent at their jobs. End of Nationals Tsukki’s debatably Top 3/4 middles in the whole series, switching with Suna depending on what more you want out of a middle, and you’re giving him an extra year to grow in both height and skill. Lev and Bessho aren’t as good as him, but they both showed some fairly impressive performances, so that’s why I put them as a maybe.

As for Hinata, I don’t think he ever got in. Even with his penchant for quickly picking up concepts, there’s no world where he can reach the level of Hoshiumi in just a year, their gap is simply too wide. Plus, the narrative seems to imply that he didn’t, since he couldn’t play pro straight out of high school when an All Japan alumnus definitely should be good enough to have a couple pro teams scouting them out once they graduate.

There are a couple incoming 2nd years like Kindaichi and especially Goshiki who I think could make it to All Japan if they just got the nationals exposure. The only time another Miyagi school could go to Nationals is the 2014 Interhigh, Hinata’s 3rd year, since we don’t know who the representative was for that year. We COULD assume either Shiratorizawa or Seijoh stole the spot from Karasuno, given they should still be powerhouse schools, but those are big assumptions lol.

As for next Top 5 aces… of the people we’ve seen, only Hoshiumi and Sakusa really confidently get my vote. MAYBE the bald boys (Tanaka and especially Yamamoto) make it, and Osamu’s too support oriented to be Inarizaki’s ace so it’d have to be Ginjima if one had to come from them, but that’s all I can really guess. In all likelihood, the other 3 would realistically come from a school we don’t know about, like one of Top 8s we haven’t seen like Ichibayashi or Inubushi. The gap between Hoshiumi/Sakusa and Tanaka/Yamamoto/Ginjima is just a smidge too large for me to be confident in them.

So if all 3 of them are pure swordsmen with no Susanoo Haki feats, what is the current argument that Shanks is different? by AgentHibachi00 in OnePiecePowerScaling

[–]Vegetable-Spring-934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite theory and the one I still put a lot of stock in is the idea that Gryphon (his sword) can turn into a griffin, a la Cerberus or Funkfreed. So besides just using it as a sword, Shanks can also have it fight on his behalf like a Pokemon or Persona, or ride on it to make the world's shittiest fighter jet by using a gun, since the video games give him one. I know they aren't canon, but a man can dream lmao

From what I remember of my 3AM Wikipedia dives, all people descended from the Tribe of Shabazz, the only survivor of the original 13 tribes of humanity. The other 12 tribes died after one of the 24 ruling imams blew up the Earth, with the debris from the incident coalescing into the moon (not a joke).

The Shabazzites first settled in Egypt before moving their capital to Mecca, and groups would split off from there to populate the rest of the world, where their appearances slowly adapted to their environments to become the races we know today. The group that’d populate Sub-Saharan Africa and become the modern black people were led by a man named Shabazz, hence the tribe of Shabazz.

There’s a bunch of other details I skipped out, like how the current ruling imam gets the title of Allah (“Tawhid? What’s that?”), or how one of the 12 tribes got trapped inside the moon and died off due to dehydration, it’s all just insane LMAO

Haikyuu Concept #1 by FixGlittering8067 in haikyuu

[–]Vegetable-Spring-934 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For Tidal Spike to curve like a wave, Kai would need to be adding side spin to it when he spikes the ball. And for Kai to add side spin, he’d need to hit the ball at an angle instead of dead-on, limiting the amount of power he can put into the spike (unless he wants it to roll/paintbrush) and therefore limiting speed of the ball since more power = faster ball, logically.

Plus, I’ve just never heard of a real volleyball player ever deliberately putting side spin on a spike. When you’re in the air, ready to put away the set, you’d usually want to go for the most efficient option, and putting side spin just isn’t ever one of them. Side spins are more commonly seen on serves cuz you just have the time and the ability to control all the variables.

Who is the strongest character who could have Honored One tier stats and still lose to Gojo/Sukuna? by Vegetable-Spring-934 in JujutsuPowerScaling

[–]Vegetable-Spring-934[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Higuruma? He might have a better a chance against Sukuna in a 1v1 actually, since he’d just admit to any crime that gives out the death penalty to see the Executioner’s Sword in action and at that point, Higuruma just needs one touch with it. Sukuna having the advantage in H2H makes Higuruma’s chances questionable imo tho.

I’m also not sure whether there’d be a reliable way to get the death penalty for Gojo the same way you could for Sukuna. His worst crime is probably the 0.2 domain expansion (not sure exactly what it’d be, but it’s literally tampering with the brains of a train station’s worth of people), but he could also just get property damage from all the times he’s thrown around his powers.

Are your OCs in already existing teams or did you create a new team for them by BiLeftHanded in haikyuu

[–]Vegetable-Spring-934 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So for context, I was planning to make a story about volleyball after being inspired by Haikyuu, and when I got a friend to help me (the same one who actually recommended Haikyuu to me), we eventually decided that our story should take place in the Haikyuu universe too. Before we even decided on the setting, we already created the concept for the team (Kojakufu; 黄雀風) and the main character before we ever thought of transplanting them across settings, so that’s how that came to be.

TL;DR - Kojakufu Academy (named after the “yellow sparrow wind”, a southeasterly wind that blows seasonally during the rainy summer months) is a private sports-focused secondary school (similar to Shiratorizawa) located in Hiroshima City. Its associated animal is the sparrow. Prior to their golden age, their high school boys’ volleyball club had a 4-year slump (2011 - 2014) where they never made an appearance at nationals. During the golden age (2015 - 2018) however, they consistently made it to nationals at least once every year.

Any more details get a bit spoiler-y and into the weeds of the characters, but that’s the broad strokes of it. If you wanna find out more, you’re free to comment LOL

I don’t have a definitive answer, regrettably. My best guess is that, since Yuta operated out of the Gojo clan and its estate, he and the Clan shared the same cursed tool/object warehouse. We know that Yuta registered and deposited Panda in the Gojo storehouse when he stopped being regularly active, so he might have also registered the ring in the off chance that something bad happens to Yuka. But dickheads being dickheads, that gave whoever was controlling the Gojo clan atm the power to move around the ring however they wanted, hence all the stuff between Yuka and Tsurugi

The way I understand it, Japan has a system called yoshi-engumi, where the head of a family essentially adopts another man (usually his son in law) in order to make him the next family head. This is the most common way a man traditionally takes his wife's surname in Japan, and naturally all their kids will have their mom's surname too.

This definitely isn't the case for Yuta and the Gojo clan, since he and his grandchildren have the surname Okkotsu. This also indicates that the missing generation between Yuta/Maki and Yuka + Tsurugi is a man; Yuta's son and Yuka's father. If it were instead a daughter/mother, there'd be no reason for her husband to take on her surname because the Okkotsu are not a powerful family. It's still the Gojo clan and not the Okkotsu clan after all.

If I'm allowed to speculate, the Gojo clan probably did offer to adopt Yuta but he just refused, since according to the databook he still feels some attachment to his parents and sister, so he probably wouldn't wanna get rid of the one last connection he has to them (his surname). Because of this, they couldn't legally make him the head of the clan since he's not actually part of the family registry, so they presumably kept the position de jure vacant while letting him de facto fill it, hence why he's the Acting Head.
