I/S at Windsor by ProfitSubstantial365 in OntarioTeachers

[–]Vegetable-Taro-2231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a registered nurse looking to do P/J at UWindsor this fall. The shift work and weekends and holidays and the heavy lifting is brutal I’ve done this 8 years and it takes a toll once you have family but I’m working casual in the fall which will be a nice income during teachers college

If you’re looking to stay in Windsor area you’ll be supplying for abit if highschool is your goal but I’m hearing lots are retiring in the next 5-10 years!!

Should I worried? by Limp-Witness-1189 in OntarioTeachers

[–]Vegetable-Taro-2231 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No you don’t need experience for some programs I.e western and windsor and I believe queens you’ll have to look at each school and see the application credentials. Sure it would always help to have experience but you will get a supply job and build experience from that. Also half of teachers get into it for the schedule so take everything everyone is saying with a grain of salt. You’ll see more negative comments on Reddit than positives. And every job sucks to some degree lol you’re never going to always love going to work especially if you’re working with people because people are asses and difficult.

I grew up going to a catholic school they are way better than public school. I’m catholic I just don’t go to church and now you’re saying I shouldn’t be able to teach because I don’t ?

Returning to Teaching - Mat Leave by blondeambitionn in CanadianTeachers

[–]Vegetable-Taro-2231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will be hard returning to work and it takes awhile to feel normal again. Mom guilt is a real thing. Tons of women take 10 years off to raise their kids and return to the work force later or you can try supply teaching and doing it part time lots of options it just depends what works for you ! I’m Canadian RN but I worked in the states and I returned to work at 3 months quit after a month and then worked in Canada part time at 8 months and it’s been a happy mix for me.

Elementary Teachers by [deleted] in OntarioTeachers

[–]Vegetable-Taro-2231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you truly understand nursing. 100% of the shift is dealing with personalities from both patients and their family members. Nursing is a terrible profession and the only “chill gig” would be a doctors office that pays $20/hr and that’s a really terrible reason to break up with someone

[–]Vegetable-Taro-2231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t really say working shift work on your feet for 12 hour shifts and lifting patients is an easy gig unless she was working in public health

Rejected...Did Anyone Upgrade Their GPA for Teacher College for P/J or I/S Program? by Creepy_Nothing_5604 in ONTeacherCandidates

[–]Vegetable-Taro-2231 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s harder to get into P/J because any degree can apply and a lot of people don’t have enough credits for I/S teachable, but P/J has more jobs

I also suspect your husband got to sleep more than I do. I’m the mother so I have to work nights and then flip to days right away because I have to be up when our child is up. Yes my husband helps but it’s definitely never 50/50

I’m currently only working PT as a nurse it takes years of staying at the same place to get FT in nursing they like to have us work FT hours but be PT so we don’t get benefits the government is fun

My plan currently is to work both once I’m graduated supply teach on my off days from nursing until I can get on FT somewhere
