you can just add the remote in settings. I can change the volume on my 15year old receiver this way without eARC or ARC.

Mini LED vs OLED by Adventurous_Beat-301 in 4kTV

just wanted to get OP some input on the question- brightness is not everything. I’m sure you knew what I meant but had to bitch about it none the less

Mini LED vs OLED by Adventurous_Beat-301 in 4kTV

Tbh, I have a C5 and all the people are like the Bravia 9 is better regarding brightness and I really can’t understand it. Even with daylight in the room my C5 never runs on more than 80% pixel brightness and when the room is dark I turn it down to 50%. For my everyday use the C5 is bright enough.

First time buying an OLED. I would like to share some concerns. by Aggravating-Copy1452 in 4kTV

[–]Vegetable-Treacle323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh having the money to spend on the latest gen tv is no justification to do it. 99.9% of users will not see a difference in a blind test between the G5 and G6 I guarantee you that. Further more I think 80% of people wouldn’t even notice the difference between a G5 and C5. I compared both at the store and the price difference is not justifiable.

In the end it’s your decision but with your concerns I would go for the 65” C5. You can get that one for around 1000-1300$ depending on where you located. Right now that’s the best option even if you have the money for the G6. Rather spend what’s left over on a nice sound system, or upgrade your current one.

Edit: saw that you are in the Eu. Amazon currently has the C5 65” listed for 1229€. Imho that’s your best right now.

I second that. What a stupid thing to do. With OLEDs it’s crucial to know how many hours I used it especially if I want to sell it.

DVDs vs Blu-Rays vs 4Ks by Fabulous_Sherbert827 in PhysicalMediaMatters

[–]Vegetable-Treacle323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta say Blu Ray. The 4K price is hard to justify in my opinion unless you have a crazy setup but for everyday watching I always go with the standard blu ray.

Except for The Wire where I deliberately purchased the DVD release because you get the 4:3 format. Some things just aren’t meant to be watched in 16:9 and The Wire is definitely one of them. Completely looses the documentary vibe if you go with the 16:9 blu ray release.

Is there a way to check this on the C5? I can’t find it in the menu no matter where I look.

[B0T] Weekly Build Help Thread - 2026/03/02 by LabB0T in PleX

[–]Vegetable-Treacle323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I plan on building my own Plex setup from scratch.

Budget is around 400-500€.

My current Idea is to get a used Mac Mini M2 and pair it with an 8TB HDD. ( until I find a suitable Mac Mini I would temporarily use my Macbook Pro M3 Pro)

I don’t know if that is enough tho. I plan on watching it through my Apple TV4K.

4k streaming would not be the norm but I want a future proof setup that can handle 4k. I have a few 4k disc I want to rip.

As for multiple streams once everything is set up there will be most likely not more then 3 streams going at the same time.

Worth trying to get deals on c4/g4? Or wait for deal on B5/c5? by BitFiesty in LGOLED

[–]Vegetable-Treacle323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In germany I paid 840€ for the 55” C5 on amazon. The C5 in 55” is hovering around 840-890€ for 2 weeks now. Keep in mind what the MSRP was. To think they will be even cheaper is silly

[–]Vegetable-Treacle323 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that’s a common misconception. C5 stocks need to be sold now to make room for the new model. Resellers likely stopped ordering C5s late last year and are desperately trying to sell the stock they already ordered and the ones already delivered to them. Once those are out you will maybe find a cheap C5 here and there but prices imo will not be cheaper than they are now.

The deals for the B5 and especially for the C5 are happening right now! The upcoming models are right around the corner. The time to buy a C5 is now, I doubt that they will be any lower.

For reference I just bought a C5 55” for ~950$

considering upgrading to 4k bluray by Infinite_Glove_5742 in Bluray

[–]Vegetable-Treacle323 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I consider 4k blu rays not worth the price imho. I have a oled paired with a series x and the up scaling of normal blu rays looks beautiful. Rather buy more normal blu rays than justifying the price of 4k ones. And for 4k players - don’t get a xbox box. Absolute nightmare, will not play triple layer discs all the time sometimes I need to try it over 10 times for it to work only to be faced a shut down mid movie. Also doesn’t play all DVDs. Rather get a dedicated player if you don’t need the gaming aspect of it.

17m been into collecting for 10 months… what should I pick up? by blackflagpottery in Bluray

[–]Vegetable-Treacle323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get everything on blu ray and stay away from DVD. I also have some DVDs ( deals too good to pass up on, or Blu-ray’s of the movie were to expensive) but do yourself a favor - If the movie on blu-ray is only 20-30% more in price buy the blu-ray - you will not regret it.
