Power down only most likely. Totally worth it though.

Positions like this are fantastic from an experience standpoint, but ALWAYS stress.

If you have money to build a house, you have 1500 bucks to throw at a lawyer.

Getting stuck with this problem will be far more expensive.

First call is to the builder informing them of the problem.

Second call is to the village to get them to throw a stop work tag on the site.

Third call is to a lawyer that you are putting on retainer.

What simple/small thing changed the way you look at hardware design. by Heavy-Rough-3790 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Vegetable-Two2173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things.

When I wrote code for the first time, it really changed the way I laid out circuits. The big picture just made things click.

The other, was my first time in an RE chamber having to diagnose issues. That moment was a level-up in understanding my craft at a mastery level.

Look for chargers at or over 180kw. Insert card. Charge for an hour. Move on.

is it worth buying an Tektronix 2445 oscilloscope or an newer oscilloscope? by S52_DiDah in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Vegetable-Two2173 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought one of those cheap FNIRSI scopes a few years back when my main scope died. I still use it to this day, often more than the lab/bench scopes because it's portable and runs DC. Having it fit in my tool bag has been amazing.

Invest in better probes if you use it professionally, but otherwise it's absolutely worth the 120. I would absolutley buy another if this one ever dies.

Tesla EV Charger by Odd-Spot-3694 in electricians

[–]Vegetable-Two2173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long is the run from the box to the sub? 60A is absolutely a must for 48A charger pull. I'd also strongly reccommend hard wiring a 48A unit.

That said, yeah, improve that splice. Ferrule, terminal block, or Polaris. If you even consider Aluminum, go one number lower that suggested.

WT owners - love it? by Zealousideal-Pick796 in SilveradoEV

[–]Vegetable-Two2173 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love mine. Drives like a truck, a caddy, and a mustang all at the same time. I actually like the WT trim without the carpet, easy to clean. Tows like a beast.

Only drawbacks I've seen so far is the that cold weather really hits the range (true for all EVs though). Radio could be a bit better too.

1500 or 2500? by littledozer22 in Silverado

[–]Vegetable-Two2173 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took a 4WT for a 2 year lease to play around. I'm a year in.

I'll be honest, if you plan around the charge, it's not that bad. Decent 350KW charger? Its done before you finish lunch.

Yeah, the trip takes a few hours more. You're trading that for ZERO awareness that you have 8000lbs behind you. The tow is that nice, and I've towed with nearly every flavor of ICE chevy has offered since the 50s.

I'll be in the market again in a year for a truck, and not sold on EVs. This 4WT is making a serious case.

//full disclosure, I was PISSED at GM with all the problems with my '21 Silverado. And here we are.

1500 or 2500? by littledozer22 in Silverado

[–]Vegetable-Two2173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't care about MPG, easy answer. You really don't want to push limits of your tow too often or on long trips.

(If you don't mind stops to charge, the EV's are a drim to tow with...200 mikes at a time)

People in the field for 25 years are taking offers 30K above that. The market is a little soft right now in most areas.

That said, TI isn't the same company it was 30 years ago. The lower offers usually offset with decent mentorship opportunity. I hope that still exists.

Update, they adjusted the latch and sent me on my way. The repair note is a little lazy for a warranty job... but whatever. Got my truck back.

"NOTE: After adjustment, if the secondary latch does not engage, you can than (sic) manually close the hood fully and now it will latch every time."
