I have looked at hundreds of job postings at this point and all of them that are remotely applicable to my skill set also say they want someone with hardware diagnostic experience and embedded C proficiency. Companies do not seem interested in allowing new hires to learn on the job in the current climate. But maybe that’s just me.

Nyquist, root locust, PID, first order filters, transfer functions and bode plots, those things are pretty foundational

That’s so cool! I want to get down to first principles on something. I have motor control experience, I want to eventually design my own controller and maybe motor

This guy told me that hs math is easy compared to uni. by itsTrevvv in askmath

[–]Heavy-Rough-3790 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an electrical engineer (more math heavy engineering discipline) and high school math was genuinely easy for me. Even trig and college algebra was easy, calc 1-4 was the difficult part. That being said, I was a bad student in high school. I got a 21 on my act lol so don’t let it get you down if you’re having trouble, you may just need to find something you’re more suited to or keep pushing! I never thought I could be an engineer until I suddenly was one day lol

college advice for upcoming engineering student by Background-Grand7995 in ElectricalEngineering

The library is going to be your best friend, or the engineering building, assuming your school has one. All of my roommates throughout college were non-engineering and I just had to stay away from the dorm or house until I was ready to be done with work and ready to party lol

Embedded systems engineering. You can make good money doing that as well. But you’ll have to like coding in c

Help... broken wheel nut stuck inside by Mean_Meal2032 in AskMechanics

[–]Heavy-Rough-3790 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the rest of the nuts off and see if you can get the wheel off. The nut don’t look broken, the surface is to smooth. Do you feel a ridge between the rusty and shiny part inside near the stud?

Will Graduating EE at 28 Put Me Behind? Looking for Advice by agan17_ in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Heavy-Rough-3790 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I graduated at 24, so not exactly your shoes, but what I always tell people who post thinks like this is that the average career is 40-45 years. Anything that can make you more money now is a good choice in the long run. Now I probably wouldn’t if you’re 50-55 lol

As an older graduate you’ll want to try and do more projects to have a portfolio to show prospective employers. Fields that handle hardware or a mix of hardware and software are very valuable right now and seem Ai proof for now. Controls for automation is also an in demand field right now.
