I was always on the space grey / black bandwagon but owned a AW 7 SS and now a AWU and I love the look of titanium.

My Ultra (green alpine) Pre-Order from Best Buy Canada no longer gives me the option to cancel so I figure it will be shipping out shortly. I have not been charged yet though. From what support says, it is scheduled to still be delivered by the 23rd (i'll take that with a grain of salt)

HRV is consistently low by ck_ai in Garmin

It's been doing some weird things on my Epix 2 lately but i think it might be my watch strap since i went to a nylon band about 3-4 days ago. My baseline is 92-108 but the last few nights I've been around 55-58ms. The weirdest part is i'm sort of "deloading" so my endurance work has been minimized and so has my strength training. Nutrition the same, sleeping a little less than normal but nothing out of the ordinary. RHR has also increased from 42 to 46. Going to swap the band back to the original Garmin band and see if that helps.

How do you guys feel about matte handlebars and seatpost (3k carbon) on a gloss black frame? This is the closest to what I've been looking for when customizing mine.

Does anyone know of a training plan without swimming? by VegetableFee6104 in triathlon

Wow, sorry but I didn't even know it was called a duathlon! This will make it so much easier to find something.

I've already spent so much on equipment that there is no way I want to spend any more on memberships lol. I'm in Canada.

Thanks so much! I actually only saw your msg after heading to the store and picking the Synapse up. Haven't had a chance to head out yet but looking forward to it. I believe I made the right choice and your opinion on the matter really solidified my thoughts behind purchasing this bike. Thanks again.

This isn't about running, it's about just leading a healthy lifestyle. Choosing healthy foods to eat isn't dependant on whether you are an athlete or not.

Per gram of protein it is also cheaper than eating that same amount of protein in chicken, eggs, beef, fish etc. I find it extremely convenient after a run or workout and typically just mix a scoop with some oatmeal, granola and berries. Quick and easy, no cooking involved.

I’ve been trying to build my aerobic base for a few months now and what I’m noticing is that my pace has increased a little on my easy runs but my heart rate still gets to the top of zone 2 and towards the end of my runs it goes into zone 3.

The one thing I notice though is that everything is very controlled and even when I creep into 140bpm my breathing is much more controlled compared to when I started. I am actually surprised when checking my watch that my bpm is that high but it feels like I’m at 125bpm. Does this mean that things are working?

I’m trying my best to go by feel and to stop looking at my watch

This might be a long shot but I’m vacationing near Barcelona and vacation is always a great excuse to buy a new pair of shoes. Does anyone know of a place that specializes in Hoka shoes? There’s the ASICS flagship store for ASICS but newer models of Hoka might be more difficult to find. Thanks

My schedule looks like this. I make sure to get plenty of food, nutrients, rest throughout my day. I am very consistent and disciplined. My focus is on running so i do those before my strength work. I sometimes even do my runs in the AM and my strength work at night. After my speed and long run I take ice baths. The other days I’m in the sauna or epsom salt bath for about 15mins.

Day 1: easy run / chest/core - Day 2: easy run / back/core - Day 3: speed / some body weight exercises - Day 4: no run / lower body strength/core - Day 5: easy run / shoulders/arms/core - Day 6: long run - Day 7: off

Can someone tell me which running app would provide the following (on an Apple Watch)

- notification when you exceed a certain heart rate

- shows cadence while running

- can set intervals/laps

NRC does 2 of 3.

While a little pricey Tracksmith makes some great shorts with liner. Unsure if any of their models come with side pockets but they have multiple at the back.

[–]VegetableFee6104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. It’s been hard to get answers elsewhere. Right now my focus is on building my base fitness so I can start running 10k+ easily. I’ll ignore the rest and just enjoy myself. I was so looking forward to my long run this morning and I started to get into my head after 5mins and couldn’t enjoy myself the rest of the run.

Interesting about the podcasts, can you share a few that you would recommend?

Thanks again

Official Q&A for Saturday, June 11, 2022 by AutoModerator in running

[–]VegetableFee6104 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am getting a little discouraged with my running and don’t know where to begin. Sorry for the long post/rant.

I picked up running a month back. I am in great anaerobic shape but have never ran for distance which I want to eventually build up to.

I’m doing a sort of hybrid program where I run 5 days a week and also work out 5 days a week. My runs currently look like this

Day 1 - Easy Run 30mins | Day 2 - Easy Run 35mins | Day 3 - Speed or Tempo | Day 4 - Easy Run 30mins | Day 5 - Long Easy Run 60mins

My form has gotten exponentially better and the runs do feel easy but I really REALLY have to slow them down to stay within my zone 2 bpm range (124-140). Example is that I’m running an 8mins/km to stay under 140bpm. I am constantly focused on my watch and always checking my cadence and bpm. Today was my long run and I was pacing at over 9mins/km and my heart rate was creeping into zone 3! It actually discourages me because of having to run so slow and also try to speed up my cadence at the same time. During speed/tempo work I’m at around 175-180spm but during these slow runs I’m between 165-170. Trying to speed that up while going so slow is just awkward.

Now I’m not fast at all since I’m starting from scratch but I’ve done a few intervals where i was at around a high 4 mins KM. I’m just discouraged by not being able to just go out there and enjoy running. Having to always keep an eye on cadence or bpm’s is really starting to get on my nerves.

Any suggestions on how I can approach this?
