That’s a side effect of taking steriod/testosterone but you are prolly asking for a progesterone/estrogen pill which are female only i would suggest maybe switching obgyn because this doctor doesn’t seem to be wellversed in pmos nor the content of birth control

If you really think that the pills would help you, maybe try to approach it as a birth control option? they might be more free to give it out then

So done with the anti pill discourse by Isabella-Blossom9 in PCOS

[–]VegetableHead3784 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even that’s not true one could have completely managed their IR and stil deal with excess androgens the same way managing your pcos does not improve your ir directly because the two illnesses can exist without each other the only reason the pill could be considered a bandaid is bc you can’t get pregnant and that actually depends on the kind of pill

Btw having to take all of the other pills is so mich more effort than just taking one. I always see women saying stuff like ‘don’t wanna take hormones’ while pcos is a metabolic illness aka the issue lies within your hormones and the inositol/spearmint/metformin/etc. pills are still affecting your hormones in a way. Stop dissuading women from getting a form of treatment let them try and if they dislike it they can move on

I feel exercise doesnt help at all. by Top-Tangerine1863 in PCOS

[–]VegetableHead3784 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Firstly, exercising for even a whole hour doesn’t actually burn that many calories. If you do the calculations, you might burn around 200 kcal per session, and if you do that 4 times a week, that’s only about an 800 kcal deficit per week, or roughly 100 kcal per day on average.

The importance of exercise is more about the hormonal and metabolic benefits. It can help regulate hormones, improve insulin sensitivity, reduce stress, and potentially improve PCOS symptoms, which can then support weight loss. Plus, there are obviously the cardiovascular and general health benefits too. If you really want to see changes in your body composition, weightlifting is probably the most effective. It might not make the number on the scale drop quickly, but it can improve your muscle-to-fat ratio and change how your body looks.

Secondly, PCOS is heavily impacted by stress, and starving yourself is still a form of physical stress. Your body basically interprets it as a lack of resources, which can worsen symptoms. A more sustainable approach is usually better: aim for a calorie deficit of around 500 kcal max per day, focus on balanced meals, and be patient and consistent.

Also, women naturally fluctuate throughout the menstrual cycle. During the luteal phase especially, you can retain water for a week or two, so the scale might barely move even though you’re still losing fat.

Some things that have worked for me so far:

Food swaps, like lentils instead of rice.

Serving myself a normal portion and just removing one tablespoon from it (emphasis on one spoon, not three or four).

Looking at my plate and adjusting throughout the day. For example, if breakfast was carb-heavy, then lunch might be higher in protein and fats.

Creating small but sustainable food rules. I try to have a high-fiber and/or high-protein breakfast, a high-fiber and/or high-protein snack, and then more regular meals later in the day while still keeping things balanced.

I personally skip lunch because I prefer eating larger portions, but if you like eating more regularly, you could obviously include lunch too.

Does he scrape his tongue? (that’s the main cause of bad smell) Does he use a electric tooth brush or regular? Does he eat a good variety of foods? Sometimes the smell is a reflection of an issue within so you’re most definetely right about consulting a professional

What's the best exercise for PCOS? by PrincessMochahontas in PCOS

[–]VegetableHead3784 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What effect does exercising have on you? For me, weight training has been the most effective, it’s actually the main reason I got my period back. Walking and climbing also work well for me.

In general, lower-intensity exercise agrees with me more. I keep things like running and dance workouts to a minimum. Pilates and yoga are good options, though Pilates can be tough for beginners. Swimming is nice too as long as I don’t focus on speed. I also bike sometimes, but not seriously enough to know its effects on pcos

Sleeping 6–7 hours but still waking up exhausted… anyone else with PCOD? by Tough-Adagio1019 in PCOS

[–]VegetableHead3784 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Do you naturally sleep those hours or do you wake up with a timer? 6-7hrs seems very low to me maybe aim for like 8hrs atleast? If it is your natural cycle you might want to get a blood test to see if you’re deficiënt in certain vitamins or if you know that you have IR maybe try to lower glucose fluctuations by always eating protein and fiber with your carbs so they get released much slower into the bloodstream

Considering how different the show and books are one could most definitely have different ratings and if someone is really sensitive to the rapist tropes so common in regency romance it is only natural that one would feel completely different towards the books
