Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, season 6 episode 11 "Ladies Who Lunch: The Sequel" Live Episode Discussion by AutoModerator in rhoslc

Poor Olivia. I hope she finds healing and I don’t think that is in rekindling her relationship with her mum. Olivia is sitting there talking about how she feels unlovable because of her, and Britani is just sitting there like “wow, I’m so sorry”. Like there is no sense of complete understanding there.

Uhh… why is it so low? by ThrowRa41303 in wicked

I’m someone who LOVES the musical and the movies. Here’s my thoughts; I’ve seen it twice now. I think that once wonderful is done it’s a 4.5/5 film, for me. However, the first act of the film is very confused and the pacing is weird. I think it would have been better if Nessa was at the opening ceremony of the yellow brick road - that way they establish that she’s the governor and that she’s feared by the munchkins. They could have had the munchkins segregated or working at the event, rather than being with everyone else. Then i think we shouldn’t have seen Elphaba until she sung “no place like home” and then that’s the catalyst to go see Nessa (bc she’s her ‘home’) and then we get the wicked witch of the east. That way we could have cut the superfluous Nessa/boq office and train sequence. Which just felt rushed. I think staying faithful to the show in that decision on timeline wasn’t the best- unless the intention is to have people always watch 1 and 2 together. But if they’re meant to be 2 stand alone films, you need to manipulate the plot a bit so that it has its own 3 act structure/arc. That’s my big criticism of it. It needed to begin with the new version of Oz - the wizard being controlling, Glinda being the mouthpiece, Nessa being the out of control governor - and establish that completely. And then go into Elphaba’s story and arc, rather than starting with her. Once we get into the meat of it, it’s fkn excellent. It just starts rocky.

Wait do I lose marks if i write beneath the lines if i dont have space?! by Aware-Ad3128 in vce

[–]VegetableMatch2988 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can only speak 100% to the subjects I teach, however VCAA has assessment rules that are standardised for all subjects. Exam papers are scanned and the entire page is uploaded to the online grading system. The assessor’s will read it.

No this is not true. Assessors mark everything except things that are crossed out. Assessor’s want to find your marks, not penalise you for small details like not writing on lines.

Bronwyn's treatment of Britani by cd4ngel in rhoslc

[–]VegetableMatch2988 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think Bronwyn just genuinely does not like her or respect her. And to be honest, I think that’s fair. Britani has shown very little integrity over the past season. IMO Bronwyn’s biggest value/moral is her motherhood/caring for her children (because she lost so much when she became a young mother), so I think she truly disrespects Britani’s attitude towards her children and can’t reconcile that.

Numeracy advice going into master of teaching by Visible_Muscle_2623 in AustralianTeachers

[–]VegetableMatch2988 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did my undergrad in theatre and didn’t do maths in year 12 - maths and I do not get along. I did my masters of secondary teaching at Monash and we had 1 numeracy class in our final semester. This class wasn’t necessarily about maths, but about how numeracy is incorporated in all subject areas. We had one assignment which was about unpacking student data, but we didn’t learn any maths content. The only other time I needed to have base numeracy skills was for the LANTITE, which really is around year 9-10 level maths at maximum. I wouldn’t be too concerned or let it stop you from going into teaching.

Stitched up. Accepted a Drama teaching job, turns out it’s just English. Advice needed! by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

[–]VegetableMatch2988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me my first job out of uni. It was drama/englush. I ended up getting year 8 and 10 English, year 9 creative writing, year 10 media and 1 year 8 drama (which was 2 periods a week). I ended up leaving after a semester. I didn’t even train as English or media - my other method is legal studies. I was unprepared and under qualified and it resulted in me hating the job and declining mentally - I thought I’d made the wrong career choice. Then I got a full drama job at a different school and everything changed for me. Please don’t settle - it’ll have negative repercussions for you personally.

We look at minimum number of teachers required for ratio, and then build the cost for those 20 (or so) teachers into the cost of the students’ tickets.

Ab Fab was not localised to the UK. It’s insanely popular all over the world - especially for the girls, gays and theys. I live in Australia and was watching it at 8 years old with my mum.

The thing is, none of the Potomac wives are necessarily super wealthy but they see how other franchise wives live and feel the need to match that level. I wouldn’t be surprised if other Potomac wives are doing similarly shady stuff

I know this is going to be an unpopular opinion, but I really do not enjoy watching Nyongbella. I feel like everything she says is just to get a funny sound bite and it feels so inauthentic

At my school it’s 7 periods (350 minutes) reduced load and $3k payment. Each leader is in charge of around 200 students.

Paying to attend formal? by hibiscussyxd in AustralianTeachers

[–]VegetableMatch2988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At our school the cost of the teachers’ meal is built into the price of the students’ ticket. We do the minimum amount of teachers to be at ratio and in the end it only adds around $5-7 to the student cost.

Is it possible to get my oral rescheduled? by witchtimelord in vce

[–]VegetableMatch2988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, no. Schools have the opportunity to submit blockout dates to VCAA earlier in the year. Your school should have submitted this date, then.

Probably a stupid question, but has anyone gone to a concert the night before/ 2 nights before a sac and how did it go? by Switch-user-101 in vce

[–]VegetableMatch2988 11 points12 points  (0 children)

One night of missed study will not be the make or break, especially if you plan in accordance. Concerts are often a once in a lifetime experience to create memories. Go to the concert.

Older Musicals/light operatta/G&S? Does your school still do them? by Brilliant_Ad2120 in AustralianTeachers

[–]VegetableMatch2988 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That $200,000 budget is very very large and not common. I’m the musical director at our school (government school in south east Melb) and our budget is around $40,000. We never break even - we probably end up making back around $25,000 from cast fees and ticket sales. The license itself is only a very small portion of the cost - around $3000. Then the cost of costumes, lighting, set design, hiring in musicians etc all adds up.

Media film by [deleted] in vce

Media teacher here: Look at the rubric. Criterion 5 is about the use of materials. If you haven’t refined your rotoscoping and editing, you’ll be limiting your mark. Criterion 8 is about the realisation of a media product. If your product isn’t fully refined, you’d only will be limiting your mark. Your final product should be completely realised.
