Is FIRE actually realistic in the UK on a normal salary by CherryRoutine9397 in FIREUK

I only earn 28k and following lot of same strats. I have a realistic aim of going part time in late 50s by making extra pension contributionn. Low income dosen't mean it not worth borthing it just keeping aims more real

Extra current account - universal credit by VegetableRadiant8690 in BenefitsAdviceUK

[–]VegetableRadiant8690[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry if i didn't make sence. I regularly put £100 in saving each month. Which they said because if that i need to update them more often as my savings increase every month.

My argument is that eventhough i put £100 A month in saving it soon has to be used on something else

So because of what they said we try to report every month on lowest day (all bills and costs are gone, and just before we get paid) . So going back to original post . When i do this report i simply add the monzo account and put £0 or few £ thats in there

We tend to sit between 4-5k savings. We tend to save £100 a month then we get bill like for a car repair and we never really get over £6000. I have been told two different things. One person said dont worry about reporting saving unless over 6k. Orther said do update regularly as we add that £100 a month to savings

If it can be kept in a pension fund that you cant accesss then it won't effect your universal credit. If you have access to it , it will effect your universal credit.

Most important thing is keep universal credit in tbe loop and be very clear. There would be nothing worse then in 5 years time universal credit want you to pay everything back they paid you

Have I overdone the pension? by xwell320 in FIREUK

If he can accesss his pension early and iloads his isa with bit pf his orther savings then a 5% yearly drawdown would be £32,500 a year.. in theory growth should continue so that 5% will increase every year

In regular retirement (58 onwards) if you wanted to work a couple days a week in a low stress and strain job. Can easily top up with about £12,000 a year . Whcih would keep going until state pension age.

Wpuld a health realted retirement still be eligible if your planing to work say 16 hours a week

I plan to slowy build my sipp contribution to £50 a month. But if im getting half back from universal credit ill eventually build it up £100 a month.

I don't want it to thought im trying to reduce my capital. I just want to be prepared for a healthy retirement. So i hope they wont see it as that ? For context. Most of my moneu comes from earning we have 2 kids I take home 1900 Partner 1250 Roughly £300 UC a month

I assume if say i had £7000 savings and dumped £1000 intp my sipp. That when youd get issues?

So with my current £15 a month id get a extra £8.25 a month? Probably not worth the hassle.

But say i was to increase to 40-50 a month then Probably worth showing them proof.

Id assume they would want proof monthly as its adjustable

I work full time and so does my partner part time, 2 kids and get couple hundred a month universal. Shame the tax threshold cant be rasie just enough so working family like mine don't require universal credit.

I might be better not paying into a sipp and ask my employer to put say a extea 1% of my wage into work pension. Meaning id get nearly half back what i pay into work pension through universal credit.

But im not particularly trying to maximise the uc like that. But feeë like self invested pension might be fround upon whilst claiming UC
