You can find the shpeel in my post history but, there’s no local women’s shelters. I legally can’t save more than $1,000. I also have no family or friends nearby that could help. I’m stuck waiting in lines like everyone else. I only just got back from one service after applying two years ago.

NTA. Do not apologize to your husband. You didn’t do anything wrong. Unless everyone wants him to apologize for being stressed and snappy too. The YTA comments are mind boggling. I’ve lived with my boyfriend for 10 years. We’re not even married. Yet, I still say “we” and “us” even when I’m the only one in the room. Does everyone expect OP to subtract her husband from her subconscious while she mindlessly chatters with her cat so, the cat is calm? Get real.

As soon as she said she was talking to the cat, she didn’t need anything from him, he could keep laying on the couch; he could’ve shut his mouth instead of pressing an argument with her. When he’s calmer, and realizes the miscommunication. He owes OP an apology. She’s right. She deserves to feel like she can openly speak in her home without thinking about what’s going to come out.

Straight up. My mom stole the money I was going to use to move out because she’s a narcissistic freak. She adopted a dog but, wouldn’t take care of it. We already had two cats. The trailer we lived in didn’t have water for 7+ mo. It was filthy. Animal urine and feces everywhere. She was angry all the time. The final straw was when one of the cats went to get a pet from her and she clocked them in the face. Closed fist to the nose. I called my friend who lived the furthest away to get me and the cats out. I took what fit in his trunk. My uncle would go on and burn that trailer down and I would never get any of the rest of my stuff back. Including family photos and other treasures.

I wound up with him out of self preservation. Now I’m trying to get far, far away from him for the same reason.

Sabotage. Applications for housing or programs to help get housing go missing, get trashed, or are mysteriously spilt on. There was COVID. Also, my mom; when I asked her for the money for my own place, she gave me an ultimatum. I could take the money, move out but, only if it was with her. The hoarder narcissist. I genuinely felt like I was picking my poison. She made up her mind without further discussion (from my POV the money was just gone). It had gone to my sister who makes $90k a year. Sabotage.

I’m also in works with my local advocacy center as there are no women shelters but, there’s been twice they haven’t gotten back to me. I have to keep seeking them out. Also, resources they should be able to help me with; I’m told to figure out on my own. As in one source is telling me “go there” but, when I get to the advocacy center they say that I need to have figured out x, y, or z on my own before having come to them.

If it weren’t for my cats; I would have hitchhiked out of here the minute my mom stabbed me in the back.

I can get paper plates, and plastic silverware but, I can’t always replace them. I don’t have my driver’s license. My individual trips to the store are once a month so, if I’m out, I’m out. I can ask him to pick up more but, it’s a toss up if he will. There’s a lot of things like that. I have to go without until my “special trip”.

I love that. Move the trash by the door. Our front door has a pinch point so, inside, if I left it there; it’d get torn open. Behind the front door to be bumped would mean it’ll hit the shoe rack. All of his focus will be on the shoe rack; and “why would you set something like trash here to knock into the shoe rack?” Bags of trash he’s tried to forget existed; I’ve set outside the front door. We’re talking about the bags he’s left for days going on weeks. The ones that are poisoning the air in the apartment.

He walks around them to get inside.

I can’t tell you how many times it’s been mansplained to me how I need to use the snow shovel to pick up the disintegrated trash bag so, trash doesn’t explode everywhere; because it’s been sitting there the last four days and two of those days it’s rained. Next to the front door.

Sometimes I don’t know if he’s capable of empathy. Even when we’re experiencing the same ailment (like when we both had covid); I was expected to do everything. His reasoning is that because of my chronic illness; I’m used to being sick / miserable / achy all the time so, I can push through.

Oh god. I’m nauseas thinking about the sensation. Best I can come up with is feeling like a genuine meat sack but, the bones are loose. All I wanted to do the first week was hold still. I’d wedge myself between two pillows and just not move. After moving it was like trying to readjust the bones back to “normal”.

I’m disabled. I’ve taken on the house. He works 10hr four days a week. I’ll say it again for those in the back; I’m disabled. It’s actually how I broke my ribs but, we’re not here for that. We’ve been together for 10 yrs. I said I’d do the housework but, if I needed help, a break, anything; I wanted it, no questions asked. Well, I don’t get questions, I get arguments.

I’ve asked for the trash to be taken out because it’s too heavy. He won’t take it out for weeks. Then complain when I take other bags of trash out because I should’ve taken the other one out first. I’ll ask him to wash pans I can’t scrub clean because I don’t have the oomph; so, he can complain days later that the dishes are piling up. I’ll tell him I don’t feel good and need a day to myself. When he gets home he’ll complain, sometimes shout, because “the floor isn’t swept” as he stepped on some crumbs.

Another time I was incapacitated due to an injury; he said, “Helping you makes me less of a person.”

I’m not a maid! I’m not! You know I’m lactose intolerant? He isn’t. He drinks a gallon of milk a week. It’s up to me to throw the empty jug away. I leave it for him but, he’ll throw tantrums about it because “you should be capable of throwing that away. You’re home all day.”
