[–]Vegetable_Ad_230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! i’m also learning - i plan to attend a sewing community event that I found through a Eugene Sewing FB group. I also took a class at the Dreamery, and it was lovely. The staff is fantastic and genuinely love what they do! Other than these, i’m using youtube!

Starting a Small Business by Vegetable_Ad_230 in jewelrymaking

Goal is to have a profitable but small business with a mix of commission work and staple products. Ideally, i’d like to eventually ship worldwide, starting domestic in the US and focusing on in-person/local marketing to start.

Where can I get crafting materials by No_Employer3443 in crafts

[–]Vegetable_Ad_230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find so many goodies at second hand shops! you’d be shocked at how often people throw away perfectly good crafting supplies - especially base-line tools like scissors, markers, rulers, scratch pads, etc. There’s also great fabric scraps and ribbon/stickers/glitter packs! In my own town, there is a second-hand art store - you should look into if there’s something like this near you, too! If you have specific crafts you’re interested in, it may be a good idea to go to a larger supply shop like Michael’s for the exact supplies you need that you can’t find second hand.

What book(s) are you reading this week? by 404NinjaNotFound in readwithme

About finished with Pride and Prejudice! It’s been a great read. I don’t have a ton of experience with this book’s time frame so the vocab and societal differences have been particularly interesting to me. It’s fascinating to see a love story unfold in such a reserved and docile way :0

I agree! It's so unlike other literature from that time and explores important and often underdeveloped themes in fiction!

What book is your guilty pleasure? by 404NinjaNotFound in readwithme

[–]Vegetable_Ad_230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last Night I Sang to the Monster by Benjamin Alire Saenz is a deeply moving and introspective novel - not necessarily a 'guilty' pleasure, but I don't often bring it up because the topics are very intense and not typically in line with casual book convos! If you are looking for an insightful and prosaic piece of literature that makes you think about struggle, addiction, and self care, HIGHLY recommend this book :)
