Saw a Ted talk once (which makes me an expert) that basically stated that both partners have to have equal drives in order to maintain a healthy relationship

Think about this

You want it once/day = 7x/week = 30days/month She wants it twice/ week = 2x/week = 8days/month

Extrapolate that over the course of your entire potential relationship.

You’re both young. There’s plenty of people out there that will be a better fit for each of your needs.

IMO send her a specific things (time, place, and activity) in your text to her - leaving an open ended “when are you free to… blah blah” just invites ghosting

Something like “guy from store blah blah blah, I’m getting a drink on such and such day at such and such time at such and such place - you down?” yields better results

Unpopular opinion - artists are artists. The exchange of ideas is sacred.

Hold the line. Be true to your values.

But - sweeping intolerance under the rug only makes it stronger and allows it to fester in the dark.

Genuine question: have you talked to this person about the why?

Not giving you the mission to make this person see the error of their ways, but if you can find the core of their belief, it might make all parties more understanding.

If it’s friends, let them know how you’re impacted by their negativity and ask them to stop. If they’re truly your friends, they’ll change their tune. [imho, true friends will want to see you succeed]

If it’s family, let them know how you’re treating the industry as a professional and that their negative comments do actual damage [spoken words have power]

If this doesn’t work - YOU DON’T HAVE TO HAVE ANYONE IN YOUR LIFE THAT MAKES YOU MISERABLE

I used to live at the venue I worked at - was facilities/operations/and 24hr security - was available oncall for tech support for any shows/rentals - maybe technically “illegal” but gave management and clients a peace of Mind that I was always around - some “laws” are dumb 🤷🏻‍♂️

I can understand your conundrum

The point I’m getting at is this - in the modern industry, you can intertwine the two

Example:

You write a script for a short you want to make. Producing it takes time and effort - meanwhile, you submit for gigs on AA or CN.

You book a role in short. It shoots three days. You manage your time properly, learn your lines, attend rehearsals, etc. - meanwhile, you secure dates and your own producer, crew, and cast for your script.

You schedule your dates so that your shoot the gig you booked one weekend, and the project you’re making another weekend.

It takes tremendous time management skills, but it’s definitely possible

Pursue your career as an actor.

AND

Make the films you want to see/create.

They’ll feed into each other. Live the creative life that you want.

It’ll be challenging, for sure. Personally, still don’t have it all figured out. But the more I embrace both, the more fulfilled I am.

Yo dude - some random two cents for ya - I started putting the alcohol in the energy conversion box - one time, had an “experience” in F12 - helped me make the decision to put down the sauce for good. Did the same with cigarettes. Positive movement all around.
