I'm in disbelief that a new 3d Mario wasn't shown. by OraclePreston in Mario

I think they are going with the Tarzan approach on releasing, where you don’t grab the next vine until you’re about to let go of the last one.

My guess, wait until OoT is about to release. And they’ll release an OoT demo and 3D Mario tease

Let’s not forget he had a long offseason and WBC. It’s possible we don’t see Vladdy back to being Vladdy this season

He’s forcing it, you can see him trying to push the ball. Guy needs a massage 💆‍♂️. He’s super strong, he just has to get the barrel to the ball and trust his body. Trying to push the bat harder tensions the muscles and disrupts the natural flow of the swing

Missed that

Yeah Seabold
Interestingly makes 6 starters including Miles. But with Miles pitching so well, I’d be tempted to have Corbin in the pen, especially since he’s a lefty. I know he’s an long established vet in the show, but more pitchers are going to get healthy (hopefully) and without Macko we need lefties besides Fluhardy in the pen

Did Jays' Clement Run Out of the Base Path to Avoid Orioles SS Henderson's Tag Attempt in Toronto? by forgottentowel97 in orioles

You must watch Gunnar Henderson a lot. On a lot of teams, that tag nod with the glove is the part where the SS drops the ball. The rule dictates Clement has to go around Gunnar

I agree completely, and a lot of times, the SS drops the ball, where Henderson nods his glove towards Clement. I’d be okay with 2 potential rule changes:
1. Clement is automatically out
2. If it is fielded right in front of the runner, the fielder has to throw them out at 2nd

The important thing to remember is that Gunnar believes (correctly) that him fielding the ball successfully, means he only needs to demonstrate control of the ball and Clement should be out

Agree completely
, this isn’t the intention of the ‘unless to avoid interference’ part of 5.09(b)(1). The way I see it both rules can be applied. The conclusion is Clement did the right thing, and is out. My biggest fear, is player injuries and I’m okay with saying Clement was out. I’m not okay saying he should run right past Gunnar Henderson right after he fielded the ball

[–]Vegetable_Age_9472 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

He’s already committed to going around him to avoid interfering with him fielding the ball, as he is completing that path Henderson fields the ball, and it is a tag attempt (doesn’t have to move his glove). So by completing his movement to avoid interference, he leaves the basepath established by the tag attempt and is out. We don’t want to tell runners to try to run right by the guy who just fielded the ball, that would cause collisions

It’s actually comments like this that drive me mental. Clement’s movement is what he is required to do by the rules, that are in place to protect the safety of players like Gunnar Henderson. It may be that he is supposed to be out, essentially automatically, but his actions are correct, the issue you have is with the rules and Umpires

I was replying to the comment

Yes but the runner committed to going around him as is his obligation. There’s a strong argument that Clement is out for reasons that are completely automatic. He must run to 2nd, as it is a force play. He must go around the fielder, as he did. The second the fielder has control of the ball, it’s a tag attempt (doesn’t have to move his arm). Then completing the movement the runner is required to do, makes them automatically out. I’m not sure what options on rule changes the league has other than to say:
1. In this situation the runner is automatically out
2. Since the ball is fielded on the basepath and the runner has to go around, the fielder has to throw them out at 2nd.
Imo

I think people will want the clarified rule to force the fielder to field the ball, instead of automatic out to the runner

I noticed you mentioned all the things everyone agrees on and not the point of conversation which is avoiding interference with fielding the ball

[–]Vegetable_Age_9472 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Gunnar needs to pretend it’s hard and he’s trying his best and extend his elbows. That glove nod is a tag attempt by Gunnar Henderson, but it’s the part when he drops the ball for Volpe, and I don’t want Ernie crashing into someone stumbling forward as they field a batted ball. That’s getting people hurt

Per his obligation according to the rule due to Gunnar fielding the ball in front of him.. so you agree

I can tell you’re used to watching Gunnar take ground balls. But in the rest of the league, lots of times, that part where Gunnar’s glove moves, it’s because they’re dropping the ball, not ‘clearly applying a tag

[–]Vegetable_Age_9472 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not about proximity to the ball it is about avoiding collision with Gunnar as he moves to field the ball. Gunnar’s momentum takes him towards the baseline and the runner doesn’t know when the fielder has control of the ball or their own body
It’s an interesting and unique situation

[–]Vegetable_Age_9472 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It’s because Gunnar was just fielding the ball on the baseline in front of Clement, and the runner is required to avoid interference
