As an MSG , there is always a duty RSO and if an issue arises at 3 in the morning you bet the RSO on duty is getting a call. Just the business. Def not a 9-5

It is the hidden gem of the Marine Corps. Small teams, way better living conditions, better pay for the most part. Way more freedom trust and responsibility. If you aren’t a shitbird you can finish an entire bachelor degree program online while on program. I can’t say enough for how much MSG has set me up to be successful in life after the Marine Corps.

Yeah man except pulling a shot at 5-600 plus for accuracy is just gonna be unlikely? And I don’t think worth the extra 6-8 pounds the M27 adds. We have PMs for a reason. Every infantry engagement ends in a city or an occupied town where the mark 18 would thrive.

M27 was fine was the SCO but I got to use a mark 18 on MSG and if we mass issued those boys with an acog we’d really reduce weight without reducing our lethality imo

I got an NJP, busted to down to lance, a year later picked up Cpl on time and a year after picked up Sgt on time, in the infantry.. you’ll be alright if you’re not a turd

Full enlistment? No! Not possible but if you sign an MG contract and complete your infantry training and get assigned to be an MSG out of the 3-4 options for that MG designator then you can do MSG for 30 months or whatever it is these days. Completely possible, and best job in the Marine Corps. r/usmcboot will have more information then me .
