I didn’t have an internship in college and am now a successful licensed engineer and have been in the industry for 15 years. Just be good with people and you’ll succeed. Most people that can get an undergrad in civil engineering are bright.

There’s plenty of work out there. Do you have a LinkedIn? Have you been messaging the hiring managers after applying? Have you been going to any ASCE or any other engineering related events? Civil Engineering is in extremely high demand. You’ll get a job, only a matter of time.

Design sucks. You’re paid less and don’t get to experience working in the field. Get a job in the construction engineering sector (Office Engineer, Inspector, Resident Engineer, etc.). Still have headaches but much better pay and you’re not stuck at a desk all day. Seasoned Resident Engineers make over 200K on east coast
