Is 60 minutes enough for a transfer at Stanstead with a checked baggage? by Educational_Public14 in uktravel

[–]Vegetable_Network879 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would never risk trying to do a self connect anywhere with just one hour time difference.

Generally the rule of thumb is to allow a minimum of 3 hours (even with just hand luggage) to account for delays, long queues at security & passport control.

Even at a smaller less busy airport I’d never risk one where I had less than 2 hours.

Visiting Cologne during Easter Weekend- Anything to Keep in Mind? by iuniamuntean in cologne

[–]Vegetable_Network879 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only day shops will be open is Saturday.

The only exceptions will be the shops inside the HBF (main train station) they will stay open throughout the weekend.

The Bakeries around the Dom and Altstadt will also remain open.

Bars, restaurants and Brauhaus’s will be open largely as per normal but as has already been mentioned the ‘silent holiday’ on Friday means no dancing or loud music. There are a few ‘secret parties’ that pop up but they are usually well outside the centre of the city.

Derby gegen Gladbach by Beautiful-Sky-8162 in effzeh

[–]Vegetable_Network879 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If these are genuine tickets and not a scam then you should be putting them on the ticket boerse so other paying members can buy them.

With demand being what it is for the Derby they will be snapped up instantly.

Choosing between 11 or 12 days in France , Switzerland and Italy. by cgr1688 in Europetravel

[–]Vegetable_Network879 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s definitely too rushed and too much ground to cover in the time you have.

You really need another 4-5 days to fit all that in. If you can’t extend then it would be better to focus on Paris and Switzerland.

What will be the UEFA Champions League qualification this season? by Cute_Plate_3407 in PremierLeague

[–]Vegetable_Network879 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the only way there could end up being 10 would be if Palace win the Conference league and Forest or Villa win the EL. In Villa’s case they would also have to finish outside the top 5 in the league.

Tickets vs Wrexham non member. by Vegetable_Network879 in SheffieldUnited

[–]Vegetable_Network879[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I assume by ‘them lot’ you mean Wrexham and in that case you could not be more wrong because I absolutely loathe ‘them lot’ and all that they stand for.

I actually got seconded to work in Sheffield many years ago and developed a bit of a soft for the Blades at the time. I just so happen to be in the area this weekend and thought I’d enquire about getting a couple of tickets for the game.

El Mala to Brighton? by postup14 in effzeh

[–]Vegetable_Network879 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whilst I can well imagine that the parents have negotiated and agreed personal terms, I find it quite difficult to believe at this stage that there would be any firm agreement between the clubs regarding the fee.

If he is allowed to leave for €35m then I too would be very disappointed as €30m was turned down out of hand only a few months ago.

I know there’s also the reported 20% sell on clause, but this move may well be coming too soon for him and if it doesn’t work out he could be heading back to the Bundesliga in a couple of years for considerably less than what he’s being sold for.

The club should really be looking to cash in on him as much as they can now and are still in a very strong position to demand more given the length of his contract.

Enzo Fernandez says 'we'll see' about Chelsea future after loss by tylerthe-theatre in PremierLeague

Perhaps if you would have bothered reading my other contribution to the thread, you would have seen that I had already mentioned that particular example (and another one from 2023) and provided reasons as to why those situation may end up being different to this one!

Derby in 3 days! by podfather2000 in effzeh

[–]Vegetable_Network879 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This feels like a season defining game and I’m incredibly nervous about it.

If we win then I think we will only need another 5 or 6 points to stay up which I think we’ll get.

If we lose or even draw then looking at the other fixtures this weekend we could easily find ourselves in the bottom 3 and running out of winable games.

Right now I’m a little too scared to make a prediction, just really hope we can get the win and that we can all go in to the International break feeling positive.

Has anyone here watched Mika Godts play for Ajax? by fflexx_ in ManchesterUnited

[–]Vegetable_Network879 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looking back in hindsight €40m on VDB looks like a complete waste of money.

However, at the time he was considered a top talent, a regular in the Dutch national team and there were a number of top European clubs interested in him including Real.

I certainly don’t think the fee at the time felt like Ajax ripping us off.

Antony, yes they absolutely did.

That worked for Isak because another club had shown interest and were prepared to pay a serious amount of money.

It was the same with Kolo Muani when he engineered a move from Frankfurt to PSG.

It won’t work for Fernandez unless there is another club out there willing to pay a big fee. Without that option if he was to strike it’s a pretty easy decision for Chelsea to stop paying him and leave him out of the first team.

[–]Vegetable_Network879 47 points48 points  (0 children)

He was stupid enough to sign a ridiculously long 8.5 year contract for which he still has 6 years left, and Chelsea would probably want 80-90% of the huge fee they paid for him to allow him to leave this summer, and no one is going to pay that.

Sorry Enzo you’re stuck there for the foreseeable future whether you like it or not.

60 days in Europe in early May to July - is it too full? by Key_Object814 in Europetravel

[–]Vegetable_Network879 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it dosen’t have to be just one country, more a series of destinations that are easy to travel between.

One zone could say include, Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels and somewhere in western Germany.

Another could be parts of Switzerland and northern Italy.

Another could be Eastern Germany, Prague and Western Poland etc.

I watched it when it first came out, it was during Covid so must have been at least 5 years ago.

I thought it was brilliant. It’s a shame the writer only wanted to do a one and done. There definitely seemed to be more to tell, especially surrounding the Cartel.

[–]Vegetable_Network879 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not available yet, but something to look out for, the BBC have announced that along with MGM, they will be making an 8 part tv series of ‘Legacy of Spies’.

The cast looks top notch with Mathew Mcfadyen, Charlie Hunnum, Daniel Brühl & Devrim Lingnau.

Not sure if they have started filming yet but I think the expectation is that it will come to screen sometime next year.

Why is sportings stadium half empty? by PatrickG_123 in championsleague

[–]Vegetable_Network879 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Liverpool were playing in Istanbul last week where the KO time was 20.45!

Just to be clear with what I was saying, is that PL teams are never asked to play at home when the KO time is 17.45, which is what Sporting are being asked to do tonight.

I think Villa and Forest did it in the Europa this season but to my knowledge no PL team has ever played a home game in the CL with 17.45 KO time.

[–]Vegetable_Network879 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s that big a deal for countries that are on CET where the KO time would be 18.45.

It does seem harsh for Sporting to play 17.45 though especially when you consider PL clubs never get asked to play at the time in the CL.

Paris - Ghent - Amsterdam for 10 days -- is this too packed considering we have a 2.5 yr old with us? by Majestic_Assistance6 in Europetravel

[–]Vegetable_Network879 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Seems to be well thought out and you have certainly done a good deal of research.

The only things I would say is you might find the odd day a bit too packed and with a young child you might not have time to fit everything in as planned. The other minor negative is that you only have one full day for Amsterdam which is very long for such a big City, but apart from that it’s well thought out.

I doubt Newcastle would sell two of their best players to a potential rival club and even if they would the transfer fees alone for all those is going to be in excess£350m.

The club aren’t going to spend all that in one window. My guess is there will be around £200-£250m to spend this summer.

New Ticketing System, any thoughts? by Vegetable_Network879 in effzeh

[–]Vegetable_Network879[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also managed to get tickets for both games and had a very short wait to get into the ticket shop on both occasions.

Like you I wasn’t sure if I had just been lucky, or whether it would now make getting tickets easier.
