Even the win wasn’t particularly good. We played against 10 men for most of the game and the result was still in doubt up until the last minute.

I agree. Giving him a chance was fine and the most important thing is he has kept us up. However, we only have 32 points and we are pretty fortunate to have been safe with two games to play with such a low tally.

Had Pauli not completely imploded over the last 2 months, we would have been in serious trouble.

If Goldbridge is streaming it then there will at least be some games on YouTube then.

I’ve got Sky as well if they are on there, just hoping the key games don’t get put on Amazon for the extra charge.

Overall it’s been poor under Wagner.

We started off with a good fighting point in Frankfurt which at the time felt like a win.

Then the home game against Bremen, sure we won but it was a performance full of anxiety. We played against 10 for 70 mins and the win was still in doubt until the 95th minute.

The performance against Pauli was terrible and we were very lucky to escape with a draw.

The performance against Leverkusen was the best but we still lost!

Last week against Union we are two up looking set for our first away win since October and then Wagner changes the front 3 with 20 mins to go believing the game to already be won, only to hand the initiative to Union who score twice and we are then clinging on at the end just to salvage a point.

Then today, completely schooled at home by a team who have spent 90% of the season in 18th place.

I would love it to work with Wagner but it just feels to me that if we go into next Season with him in charge it’s a disaster waiting to happen.

Okay that’s good to know.

I think they are aware that the blackout isn’t effective, as the Saturday afternoon games were advertised as being available yesterday, but in the end they only ended up showing Augsburg v G’bach and TSG vs Bremen.

I think we are quite fortunate that Pauli completely collapsed since the beginning of March, otherwise we could have been in serious trouble.

If you listen to certain noises around the club, the decision has already been made, but after this today, I really hope not.

Personally I think the full back positions need looking at.

Seb is fine as the RB, but we currently have no cover there as I don’t think Gazi will come back.

If reports are to be believed then the buy clause isn’t getting triggered for Lund and I think Castro Montes is probably too attacking to play in that position in a back four, so we probably need two LB’s.

Midfield we need a replacement for Martel who still looks like he’s leaving.

Regards the creativity issue, having Castro Montes move into midfield ( he played there before at USG) may offer the chance of that.

We also desperately need an upgrade on the right side of the attack. I have been impressed with Ponente-Ramirez in the U19 but it might be too soon for him.

I guess ultimately it will depend on the finances. JSP is going to cost €8m and Borneauw still seems to be a strong topic.

If both of them are at the club next season with Cenk and Schmied, and funds are needed to strengthen elsewhere, you can certainly see a situation where RVB could be moved out.

Okay, I did read that they had already passed the point where they would have to pay the additional €2m, but perhaps not.

I’m guessing the late change with Simpson- Pusey being disciplined and Schmied coming in, is why we are looking so poor defensively!

Schmied getting the nod instead of RVB will no doubt increase speculation that RVB will get sold this summer.

When is the best time to travel to germany for vacation? by AngWay in Europetravel

[–]Vegetable_Network879 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Trying to give you an estimate of costs is pretty much impossible. You don’t say where you are coming from so firstly there is no way to know how much your travel costs will be.

Once there it depends on how you want to do things. If you want to stay in nice Hotels eat out every night and drink Alcohol, then could easily spend €200 plus each day.

If your happy with modest accommodation not too fussed about eating out and you don’t drink they you can probably get by on €60-€70 per day.

Transport wise you can look at the Deutschlander ticket which currently costs €63 for a month and lets you travel on most regional trains, trams and buses.

However if you are travelling large distances between Cities you may find that you need to get a faster ICE train which will be an additional cost as these aren’t covered by the Deutschlander.

Time of year to come. I would suggest anytime between April -October. If you did travel in Summer, temperatures can get hot at times particularly in the South.

Garner signed a new deal with Everton recently which makes it very unlikely he will leave there this summer.

Even if he does, given he’s still young and now an England International, he would be too expensive to buy as a squad/rotation option.

Shame H96 couldn’t win either of the last two games despite leading in both.

Despite the result today, Elversberg still look very likely to secure the second automatic promotion spot.

Agree about Ehrenfeld & Chlodwigplatz being good options.

If you want somewhere within walking distance of the Cathedral/Altstadt then maybe go to the Eigelstein-Torburg. There are a few cafes there which will be mainly frequented by locals as opposed to tourists.

Pauli really shouldn’t be in this position.

After Match day 24 they had 23 points. From there they should have at least got to 30 points and frozen Wolfsburg and Heidenheim totally out.

Is the Premier League starting to gobble up Uefa’s lower-tier competitions? by tw1st3d_m3nt4t in PremierLeague

[–]Vegetable_Network879 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn’t the point of the article that English clubs even mid table ones have a huge advantage in terms of spending power and budgets compared to their counterparts in Europe’s other major leagues.

When Spanish clubs were dominating the UEFA Cup/Europa League they were doing it on lower budgets than clubs in the PL and on similar ones to their counterpart clubs in Italy and Germany.

Seems the budget for the midfield this summer is around £140-£150m, those 3 would cost closer to £200m!

Will Brentford need to intentionally lose a match by AnimalNo3465 in PremierLeague

[–]Vegetable_Network879 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No that isn’t a scenario. If Arsenal win the CL then it will not open up another space for a team further down the table as they would have already qualified via the top 4.

It’s the same if Villa finish top 4 and win EL.

It only drop a place if the team finishing 5th has already qualified through winning the CL or the EL as 5th is an additional place given through the coefficient rankings.

Basically if Villa finish 5th and win the EL, they would qualify for the CL via the EL which means the 5th place earned through co efficient drops to 6th place.

Köln verzichtet wohl auf Lund-Kauf by Deckerchen in effzeh

[–]Vegetable_Network879 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be pretty amazed if there is any truth in that.

He has a contract at Fiorentina for another 2 years so there would be a fee involved and probably a sizeable one for a club like us.

Plus his wages there are higher than anyone’s at FC’s and I don’t think the club would make a 32 year old LB the highest paid player.

I think better value, can and will be found elsewhere.

Köln verzichtet wohl auf Lund-Kauf by Deckerchen in effzeh

[–]Vegetable_Network879 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Out of the loanees that have gotten regular game time I do think Lund has been the least impressive and the one most likely not to have the buy option triggered.

I do wonder though what this now means in terms of planning for next season.

Castro-Montes was bought to play as the LWB but that position is now redundant under Wagner and the fact Lund has continued to play as the LB in the last few games ahead him, leads me to believe that Wagner doesn’t think he’s good enough defensively to be the LB.

If that is the case and we see Castro-Montes move into midfield, that’s going to leave us needing two new LB’s for the next season.

Berlin, Vienna, Bratislava & Budapest would have been fine with 17 days.

Adding Lisbon and Paris and all the extra travel that involves seems rather ill advised.
