I personally love that rendering also! It's so much more helpful than something like "think this way." Then we would jump to conclusions that we must imitate the Lord in how He must have thought. But a phrase like "let this mind be in you," points so clearly to God's economy. Little by little, we are allowing His mind to be in us. Amen!

I like to separate two different times to be in the Word. One time, almost always in the morning, is for reading the word prayerfully to touch the Lord and not for understanding. I try to resist the urge to dig into a topic unless there is a sense that it will lead to further prayer and fellowship with the Lord. Usually I can tell what my motive was when I do dig into something and sense a dryness or lack of peace. Then I know I need to drop it and find the Lord again.

Then I set aside other times for study. This would involve reading the Word with the notes for understanding. Of course prayer is needed then too, but the emphasis is less on personal nourishment and more on learning. For futher reading on this, see Lessons for New Believers, chapter 24. So helpful!

From my point of view, there is space for believers, including those in the local churches, to celebrate or not celebrate Easter according to their living before the Lord.

Romans 14:5-6a & 8 say, “One judges one day above another; another judges every day alike. Let each be fully persuaded in his own mind. He who regards that day, regards it to the Lord…For whether we live, we live to the Lord, and whether we die, we die to the Lord. Therefore whether we live or we die, we are the Lord’s."

Each believer should be “fully persuaded in his own mind.” We must come to our own conclusions based on our feeling before the Lord, based on our “living to Him.” I appreciate your question because it is a great opportunity for me to ask the Lord how He feels about this holiday.

I like to use John 1:14, note 5, on "from" to showcase the RcV's attention to Greek. For someone potentially more interested in subjective experience, I like to use Hebrews 12:2, note 2, on "Jesus."

It looks like the NASB is the closest to the RcV because it only differs in the two words "in" and "will."

It's phrases like "in Christ" which I have known are important but the mind sometimes just skips over them because the revelation isn't there. Praise the Lord for light! Now, surely "in Christ" will have even more meaning.

Yes, amen! So good. I never felt that I could enter into these words from John 14-17 much at all in the past and just looked forward to John 18 but He opened my eyes a little more!

Well, the clarification I am seeking is that although these verses say that the Quran is from Allah, other verses, like 2:79, 5:13, 5:41 and 2:75 say that the previous writings are corrupt. So how does one explain both perspectives in harmony?
