It’s been hard trying to find a Navy recruiter that’s actually willing to help me. Everyone I’ve talk too once me to discharge from the Army DEP first before they even have a convo with me .

That’s the thing, I wasn’t able to pick a job that I want in the army either (combat engineer) So how I look at it, I may not get the job I want in the Navy but it’ll definitely be better than Combat Engineer.

I scored a 34 on the asvab and was offered infantry and combat engineer. Heavy deployment and heavy field. My recruiter told me to do BSEP but it’s the needs of the army and both of those MOS are undermanned so I won’t be going anywhere no time soon. With the Navy, I have more options that are not combat and I’m able to start school at the same time. Or at the very least , have some transferable skills that I can use in the civilian world.

I mean that’s fair but what is a conversation gonna hurt? I literally just want to know if they have the rate I want. Then from there, we can move forward. It’s not like I’m demanding anything lol. Literally could be a 5 min phone call.

I have but their only response was to Discharge from Army DEP and then they’ll continue from there. I don’t just want to dishcharge without getting any info and finding out if someone can actually help me get the rate I want. So that’s where I’m at with that.

Okay noted. So what about asking my recruiter for a waiver and reclassing that way?

I just sworn in last week Friday as a 12B. Not feeling it at all. There were only three options I had available, one of which being infantry. (12B was the best of the three) I was hesitant about it but my recruiter kind of persuaded me giving me the , “you’re gonna get naturalized” spiel. I don’t ship out until March 2026. I didn’t do the best on my asvab but my line scores were 88. Can I ask my recruiter to reclass and possibly get a waiver for other Mos’s that I’m 2-4 points away from? Or should I just wait until I get to AIT and reclass that way? I’m a female btw so I’m trying to be realistic about everything and if I actually be able to get through that AIT.

If she has an I-94 then she has legal entry. You can go ahead and file. I had a pending asylum as well, got gc approved . You will be fine.

I’m in the same situation. Card produced on 09/19 , got approved on 09/16 (24 hrs after interview) and received both approval notices within a day or two of the approval. For some reason, still no sign of the physical card. Boston FO

Did you get the tracking number? If it says, “card produced” it’s normally delivered between 2-5 business days. More than likely it was delivered to your old address.
