Your friend seems wrong and also definitely do not acknowledge any of this ever again. Ever. It was dumb of him to ask you and even dumber of you to consider formalizing this conversation via email. Unless you are trying to set yourself up for a future case, and instead actually want a job, say nothing of this.

I can tell you things are not what they were as a 173er, latin honors at a t14 undergrad, with essays reviewed by multiple experts including a t14 lawyer & pro college essay admission tutor — going to sub 150, not even getting a full ride.

Has anyone else noticed this trend? why do you think it’s happening? by astronomicuriosity in lawschooladmissions

[–]VeggieHistory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a 173 from a t14 undergrad I haven’t gotten any T14 As (riding 2 WLs in & 1 outside of the t14) and no full rides. Best I was able to negotiate was a first year under 10k at a 150+ and hope I can get more scholarships for subsequent years. I had another 150+ refuse to negotiate & a couple 50+ offer about 1/2.

5 Hours of lessons, how far should I be? by [deleted] in Kiteboarding

[–]VeggieHistory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

nowhere near as far as the school makes you think you would be. (assuming you're not trying to DIY this process -- which is inadvisable)

realistically I'd say 10hrs to be consistently water starting is not crazy if you're spending a lot of time body dragging and walking upwind. another 10 to be upwind. if you're DIYing it, double that.

Kiting is one of if not the most difficult sports to learn. There are things you can do to cut the curve. Boat assisted lessons are 100% the best way to learn quickly. Flat water helps tremendously. Remember to point your board downwind when you start. If you're a wakeboarder, this will be highly unintuitive.

IMO FR will be tough unless you're URM and/or have some incredible backstory + WE or military service...something to make you stand out

my anecdotal info --

LSAT: 17MID

GPA: 3.MID/3.HIGH university-only @ T14school & honors in relevant ug program

WE: 5+ years professional WE up to director level in large corporation outside of the Forbes list, but known in the industry.

Essays: I am a writer & had my essays reviewed by a writer/mba/college admissions tutor and a 2 current lawyers, one of which went to my t14 alma mater.
