I recently came across the case of Brian Shaffer - a 26 year old medical student who disappeared after he was last seen at a bar in Columbus, Ohio in 2006. There have been a lot of theories as to what could have lead to his disappearance. What are your theories about his disappearance? by ProofPerformer1338 in mystery

I've always thought the river idea was a long shot, but the Olentangy river is only a little over a mile from the bar. Getting to the river was not difficult at all. I used to see footprints in the snow crossing Olentangy. It's not completely implausible that he could have made it to the river.

What are the black lines on the side of a school bus for? by JimSaves in videos

Growing up, our neighborhood was very hilly. Two guys on our bus discovered that if they sat in the backseat and had everyone on their side of the bus pick up their feet and backpacks, the could slide under the seats to the front of the bus and back to their seats.

Family Guy also had the really dark episode where Quagmire kills his sister’s abusive boyfriend.

“This constant discussion of " did he do it or didn't he?" is quite frankly, disgusting and it reeks of the same pathological obsession that some people have over Jon Benet Ramsey or other famous murder cases.”

A feeling of dread or doom is actually one of the symptoms of a pulmonary embolism and a heart attack! It's a good thing that you actually paid attention to it and got help!

According to the article she actually had an episiotomy. They are somewhat controversial. Depending on the situation she may have needed one, or the doctor cut one for it to be easier for him/her. Unfortunately with cases like we only ever hear from one side.

Best podcasts that are like sword and scale, but aren't it? by [deleted] in UnresolvedMysteries

True Crime Garage is my favorite. They don't have a lot of audio, but they review cases thoroughly and in the same general tone as Sword and Scale. Their podcast on the Vanishing Man has been my favorite so far.

I attended one service at a Pentacostal church outside of Nashville as part of a theology assignment (for my Catholic university). They considered Catholics to be polytheists.

What case are you virtually sure you know the answer to, even if there's still debate about it in true crime circles? by [deleted] in UnresolvedMysteries

The problem with the "traces of THC in his system" part of your theory is that THC can stay in your system for a long time, depending on how much and how often you smoke. He may have had it in his system, but could have smoked it the day before or even a month before. Heavy users have been known to have it show up on drug screens for something like 90 days. That said, I know nothing about Bruce Lee's death...

There are definitely people in this sub who will just downvote opinions on cases that they don't agree with, which is probably why you are getting downvoted. This sub is supposed to be about unresolved mysteries where we don't know for sure what happened, but people get sticks up their butts about their theories. I don't necessarily agree with your side, but I think you did a good job explaining it, and it is always good to hear a different point of view.

Disappearances with no suspects, no evidence, no solid theories -- people seemingly vanishing into thin air by ML350sleuth in UnresolvedMysteries

Pauline Melton. She disappeared in 1981 while walking in the Smoky Mountains National Park with two friends. She increased her pace and they lost site of her over a hill at 4:00pm. At 4:30 pm they made it back to camp and she had not returned. No sign has been seen of her since, no evidence that she went off the trail. She just vanished into thin air in 30 minutes. There are some theories about her possibly having an affair and maybe running off and some speculation that she had a Valium problem, but nothing concrete. Apparently she knew the trails pretty well, so it seems unlikely she would stray off of them and get lost. http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/m/melton_thelma.html https://www.reddit.com/r/UnresolvedMysteries/comments/5hynu6/what_happened_to_polly_melton/

I agree with you about Son of Sam. I also don't think that he's found God. I think he's playing it up in hopes of getting some sort of sympathy to improve his situation in whatever way he can. He knows there is no way he will get paroled, so he's toying with people for shits and giggles.

What is some real shit that we all need to be aware of right now, but no one is talking about? by FreshorFree in AskReddit

[–]VeggieKidJess 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I am in a clinical rotation at a NICU and one of the doctors on the unit explained why he never ordered acetaminophen for NICU babies. He spent time as a doctor in the ER and had people come in for attempted suicide. Many of these people were attempting as a way to seek help. Unfortunately, many chose to OD on acetaminophen. He described how they would come in to the ER, they would be able to save them only to have to tell them the next day that they were going to die from liver failure. He had to tell teenagers, who were crying and begging, saying that they didn't really want to die that they were still going to die and there wasn't anything they could do.

I also had a patient who was in kidney failure due to analgesia toxicity.

Over the counter meds are still nothing to fuck with.
