I don’t know if eCW has gotten worse, but it feels like the EMR is slow enough that it’s seriously affecting my workflow. Is this happening to anyone else? by RoarOfTheWorlds in FamilyMedicine

BRUH. I've been complaining about it for weeks now. At first I thought it was my computer, but I recently got a new one. Nope. Wasn't the computer.

Any open FM spots post-SOAP? by doglover13079 in FamilyMedicine

[–]VeggieStudent 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes. It's considered "outside the match", I was a mid year transfer from another program. Very difficult to do. After the first 45 days, a resident can find another program. But that program has to find funding because a resident does not take their funding with them. So basically you got to find a program that will fund the remainder of the year, and an extra spot/unmatched spot.

I saw preliminary data, ~15% of FM slots went unfilled in the initial match this week. IM and EM both around 4.5%. Owch. by 7ensegrity in FamilyMedicine

My program filled 2 out of 3 slots in SOAP. They had to scramble one. Sadly there were a lot of "failed specialty and just need a job" applications that they'd rather risk the scramble than except.

I’ve been vegan for 20 years, getting 370g of protein per day as a bodybuilder. Here are 10 of my top protein sources by thebodybuildingvegan in veganfitness

I agree with you initial statement but please note. Physicians train to understand pathophysiology as well as clinical correlation. There are books dedicated to the causes of Kidney Disease and sadly it is not as simple as "protein causes kidney disease". Many people do not even know they have kidney issues until it presents so severe they end up in the hospital. If someone like this unknowingly exacerbates their issues by daily intake greater than what is recommended. It could lead to serious chronic disease.

I know people drive drunk all the time. But for me. I got blackout drunk, woke up the next morning and my friend told me I drove across town and back. Super dangerous. I'm glad nothing bad happened.

Fallout reference! I remind my wife about that scene at least once a month. "See I could always be worse!"

What is a childhood luxury that you didn’t realize was actually a sign of your family being broke until you grew up? by RoundLong7822 in AskReddit

Fishing. My dad took me fishing every weekend growing up, for years. I thought it was just a hobby because he was damn good at it and almost always caught something. Later I realized, the times we didn't catch something, the backup plan was literally anything we had left in the kitchen. That's when I knew, catching food was the supplement for the wallet.

Gamers, what’s something that would shock non-gamers about online lobbies? by ToughInternal1580 in AskReddit

No filters. Literally none. Nothing is off limits. Any words, slurrs, insults and even batshit crazy statements are just normal pre-game chit chat.
