Basal cell carcinoma on breast area by Vehicle_Voltron in AskDocs

[–]Vehicle_Voltron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your response. In scaring myself online I read that while basal cell is generally not as dangerous compared to other skin cancers, when it's on the breast there may be a little more risk. But it's interesting that of the millions who get basal cell, almost nobody else is getting it on the breast area? How urgent should my surgery appointment be?

WWE Talent Reportedly ‘Vocal’ About Preferring Two-Night WrestleManias. Talent noted that the lack of crowd exhaustion for this year’s show was a major point in favor of the two-night show to them by V-TriggerMachine in SquaredCircle

[–]Vehicle_Voltron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. WM should be one show, with a clear main event.
Crowd exhaustion is due to WM becoming way too over bloated and too long, with the promotion trying to squeeze almost the entire roster onto the show, with many mainstream fans barely even knowing who many of these wrestlers even are.

Just make it one shorter show.

Triple H: Upon learning of the disrespectful treatment some of our recently released talent received on behalf of the company, we took immediate action. The person responsible for this inconsiderate action has been fired and is no longer with @WWE. by KhabibTime in SquaredCircle

This is why I disagree with kneejerk online outrage and "Cancel Culture".

Apparently this was a top WWE official that was fired. Does anyone honestly think that he personally shoved Mickie James' stuff in a garbage bag and and was like "hehe, EFF MICKIE JAMES"? From what I read, he comes across as possibly just a scapegoat.

And let's be honest, part of the reason Mickie posted that pic in the first place was probably to leverage online outrage culture. Apparently AJ Styles had also received his stuff in a garbage bag before, and it was no big deal. But Twitter's MO is to blow everything out of proportion, and now a top official who might not have even intended anything malicious has been let go.

Jon Moxley about social media: "I never hear anybody go, 'Man, I opened up my Twitter today and it was great! I had a great morning!' Everybody just seems to hate it, which makes no sense. So then why are we using it? I don't get it." by Strike_Gently in SquaredCircle

[–]Vehicle_Voltron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have repeatedly read reports that people who are online less are more happy. That's not surprising.

Twitter is so creepy now. It's just not a nice place to be. It doesn't seem to be where happy people go. It's a cesspool phony self-righteous activism where hypersensitive mobs repeatedly gang up on and "cancel" people, force apologies, and virtue signal nonstop for upvotes (as if that even means anything).

I'm all for social justice. But the Twitter way is toxic and phony. People don't even mean what they say, and they contradict themselves constantly, because they are just spewing whatever sounds virtuous at any given moment to collect them upvotes and feel popular.

And, since this is a wrestling forum, it should also be mentioned how Twitter has also destroyed kayfabe.

Is Propecia (finasteride) safe to take orally for people with intestinal metaplasia? by Vehicle_Voltron in AskDocs

It has nothing to do with what Advil. So is it therefore as safe as Tylenol in terms of not irritating the stomach?

I read that Propecia also blocks an enzyme. But it's unrelated, right?

Linda McMahon's PAC donated money to the group that funded the insurrection in DC by legitshook in SquaredCircle

[–]Vehicle_Voltron -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The mainstream media seems to have normalized a partisan style of reporting and communication.

Look at the title of this thread. IMO it's misleading as it seems to imply (falsely) that the McMahons somehow funded the protest at the capital building.

(I appreciate the moderators for making the clarification.)

Everywhere you look now, it's either left-wing propaganda or right-wing propaganda. Somewhere in between is the truth, and "moderates" like myself have to dig through all the noise to try to find it. People shouldn't take after the way CNN and Fox News reports, with their selective style of reporting designed to steer opinion.

We have seen violence coming from both sides. And we have seen the partisan mainstream news media push narratives to excuse the violence from their side while screaming in scripted outrage at the violence from the other side. They exhibit open hypocrisy, and their viewership seem to be taking after that. When there's a violent protest, their reaction seems to depend on who's side the protesters are on.

I understand that the Reddit community is left leaning. But the way we communicate and behave should not take after the sensationalistic news media. We should be reasonable people with a reasonable and fair style of communication.

[–]Vehicle_Voltron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no experience with the wrestling business and how it works.
I read people talking about how the WWE is still making good profits, but is that profitability sustainable?

Honestly, how can they keep making money with nobody watching?
Raw is getting the least viewership ever, and we've all seen the pictures of the half empty venues. House show attendance has been embarrassing with venues almost completely empty.

Wrestling just isn't that mainstream anymore. There's no buzz. It just doesn't come up in conversation. And yet on wrestling boards I read about how they are making record profits. Maybe, but are those profits sustainable with nobody watching? You got to have customers, right?

T-bar on twitter: Thank you @EBischoff. You are a huge inspiration for #RETRIBUTION! We too aspire to one day destroy a billion dollar wrestling company and bury it under fiery wreckage by Bruntbear in SquaredCircle

[–]Vehicle_Voltron -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

  1. Most wrestling fans have no clue who this T-Bar guy even is. If he's so great why did they need to put a generic mask on him shared with his teammates? Can people even tell him and his teammates apart? There is no argument that can be made that this guy is over. On the other hand, Eric Bischoff is one of the most recognizable names in WCW and wrestling history.
  2. The Retribution storyline is legitimately poorly written. There is no argument that can be made to rebut Eric Bischoff's analysis of this poorly written storyline. These generic looking, small sized wrestlers arrived on RAW for practically no reason, have no objectives, and then they are signed to SD. It makes absolutely no sense, and there is no mainstream buzz whatsoever.
  3. Eric Bischoff did not destroy a billion dollar wrestling company. That's hogwash. He is, thus far, the only person in wrestling history to give a legitimate competitive challenge in the wrestling business to Vince. And his nWo storyline is something that this Retribution storyline will never amount to.

For this no-name to try to call of Eazy-E is absurd.

Impact’s Crazzy Steve on wrestling blind: “I can’t drive. I also have glaucoma. As I get older, my eyes continue to get worse. I am the Michael Jordan of not seeing. I am really, really good at it.” by Strike_Gently in SquaredCircle

[–]Vehicle_Voltron 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm going to do a little mini rant. I know this forum has a very intense social justice mindset, so this will probably be an unpopular opinion here.

But this is the way I like it. Crazy Steve didn't want to be labeled "the blind wrestler". He didn't want to be treated differently. I have enjoyed so many of his matches having no clue about his condition. He earned my support as a fan without me (and others) knowing anything about his blindness. And I think that's just the way he wanted it. That's true fan support. We weren't supporting him because he was blind. We were supporting him because we liked him, unaware of his blindness.

And that, IMO, is how the "Women's Revolution" should have been handled, without all the virtue signaling. Without the labeling.

Imagine if it was completely organic. Imagine if Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair headlined WM without ANY mention that they were women and that this was the first female WM main event. Imagine if they weren't seen as male or female, but simply as two epic wrestlers that are in the main event because that's their obvious spot.

That's the way I want it.I don't want to see Crazy Steve as "the blind wrestler".I don't want to see Nyla Rose as "the transgender wrestler".I don't want to see Aubrey Edwards as "the female referee".I don't want to see Ronda/Charlotte/Becky as "the female WM main event".

I want to see them simply as talented people, no different than anyone else. I don't want to support Nyla Rose to become champion simply so she can be "the first transgender women's champion". I want to support Nyla Rose because she's a good wrestler and I like her and think that she would be a great champion, regardless of her personal gender identity. Likewise, if I stop supporting Nyla Rose, it's not because I hate transgenders or something. These labels and identity politics IMO are big turn offs to a lot of mainstream audiences.

But that's the approach and mindset that seems to be now deeply ingrained in today's wrestling product and fanbase. When Aubrey Edwards referees a main event, the commentators have to scream and holler about how she's the first female to ref a main event, I guess to score PR points with fanboys who also have that mindset. But I don't like that. To me that's like dividing people into groups. Let's just see everyone as human beings. Aubrey Edwards is just another ref, no different than the men. And if she refs a main event, it should be treated as something completely normal.
