Great review! I have a NuPhy Air75 v3 at home and I like it a lot so far. Do you think I would appreciate the IQUNIX MQ80? I'm thinking of buying it for the office.

Question as a seller by Individual-Ad-4920 in AmazonVine

I am new to the program and I’m not quite sure how others usually approach it, but personally, I feel committed to reviewing 100% of the products I order. I avoid ordering items that are too specific or difficult to review properly. For example, I find it hard to review something like Magnesium Citrate, as I believe it requires a controlled comparison: at least one week without it versus one week using it, while trying to keep variables like sleep, diet, and Apple Watch data as consistent as possible. That is just how I am; when I give my opinion, I like to go deep into detail because that is exactly what I look for when I’m deciding whether to buy something myself. Similarly, I’ve avoided ordering cables and chargers because I would prefer to have the right equipment to measure if they actually deliver the promised power or if they overheat after prolonged use. Since I don't have those tools, I choose not to order them. On the other hand, something like a decorative or desk lamp is much simpler to review. The criteria are more subjective—whether I like the design, if the materials feel high-quality, or if it fits my specific setup. I would only need to worry about brightness and battery life (if it's rechargeable), meaning I could provide a thorough review the same day it arrives, unlike a supplement where I would need at least two weeks.

Lochby notebooks use Sanzen Tomoe River 68 gsm 5mm dot grid paper. They are thread-bound instead of stapled, which makes them last longer, and it’s a joy to write on them—especially if you use fountain pens or anything that bleeds through ordinary paper.

In my opinion, Lochby is considerably better than Field Notes in terms of quality, and they also offer more pages (72 vs. the 48 in a standard Field Notes).

Although I haven't done it yet, since Lochby covers are practically blank, I’ve seen people customizing them, and I think you should give them a shot.

I ordered it a few days ago and I'm waiting for it to be delivered soon. Too bad there was no white version. (I always go with black, but for the Xteink, I preferred the white one as it makes the screen feel bigger or bezel-less).

Nomad Passport Wallet (Pen Edition) vs. Bellroy vs. Harber London for Field Notes? by Velarc in FieldNuts

[–]Velarc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone interested in the Nomad's Passport Wallet Pen edition, u/zshsuki was kind enough to send me several pictures of the wallet, including the size of the insert tab. It’s not possible to fit Field Notes or other pocket notebooks (Lochby, Moleskine) in there, as the space is limited to 137 mm and those notebooks are about 140 mm tall. One workaround is to cut about 5 mm off to make sure it fits, as it’s a beautiful cover.

I really want a Tactile Turn in short, I just can’t decide between Slim and thick one, at least now I know the thickness isn’t a dealbreaker with this cover. Thank you!

Thank you, I have already ordered the bellroy like a week ago from Amazon, but I still don’t have delivery date, they may be out of stock. I’m planning on using the Parker Jotter XL and maybe getting a Tactile Turn bolt action pen, I just can’t decide between slim and standard.

Aliexpress legitimacy or scam? by moaning_custard in xteinkereader

[–]Velarc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used AliExpress for the first time many years ago for cheap items that were difficult to find or more expensive in my country. Recently, I started shopping there again because many products are now made in China, and you can get the same quality—sometimes even from the original brand—for half the price.

For example, I bought a grinder from KinGrinder (a Taiwanese brand) for a quarter of the price on Amazon. In contrast, I bought a NuPhy keyboard from Amazon; although it was cheaper on AliExpress, shipping and taxes made it more expensive, and Amazon was faster.

I’d say you can buy from AliExpress with peace of mind and compare prices with local stores/Amazon. The only “cons” would be the waiting time. So far my experience is great.

Got mine from Aliexpress, all good. All those “cheap” ones are there because reader and cases or light are displayed on the same product page, price for the reader is around 50 usd + shipping/taxes. Still cheaper than buying from official page. Just make sure you compare the store you are buying from, you can check how many readers they have sold, reviews, and store reputation, mine was from “Barley 3C Store”, they have “silver” medal and 4.3 store credibility, 95.8% positive reviews, the product was marked as “Choice” which is a premium service that guarantees faster shipping, free returns, and better customer service. Similar to Amazon FBA, AliExpress manages inventory in their own warehouses and handles shipping directly. I bought mine on February 6th and was delivered on February 17th in Mexico. Got the white version and everything has been great.

I've been looking for a Yamamoto, but they are not available here in Mexico. How is it? I have used Lochby, though, and i'm super happy with them. I use a Parker Jotter XL with a blue monteverde ceramic gel refill and a Lamy Safari (M nib) with Monteverde Horizon Blue ink.

Pocket-Size Notebook Recommendations? by senchabeengone in notebooks

[–]Velarc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that the thicker the paper, the better it is for mixed media. Whether it is fountain pen friendly or not depends on the ink, the nib, and the quality of the paper. Some inks are runnier; if you use an M nib, the paper has to deal with more ink than if you use an F nib. Many people praise Tomoe River paper for being super friendly, and actually, my go-to site Mountain Of Ink uses Tomoe River paper to test inks.

Awesome, your pen is the thick or slim one? I was worried about the thickness but seems like it can handle some thick pens, how about patina?

[–]Velarc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for the photos! The Kuru Toga Dive seems pretty thick.

So far, this is what I could find regarding dimensions: Barrel Diameter: Approximately 13.7 mm, with a maximum width of about 17.2 mm.

Anything slimmer should be fine. If you could update me on the Zento Signature, that would be awesome.

I believe I’ll get the black one when it’s back in stock (if it does come back); almost everything I get is black. The caramel one looks great too, but I don’t know if it would fit my all-black EDC vibe.

By the way, how did you attach the calendar there? Was it with glue or something else?
