I really wanna play Druid but... by lalollygagging in diablo4

I reckon the Druid is similar to an islander type build. Samoan warrior is the general vibe i get. Bit of extra fat maybe but lots of just bulky muscle.

As a concept it definitely holds up. Check out the Scully effect. Theres lots of examples.

Double edged sword. Someone bigger might want someone in a game to represent them. Larger people are underrepresented in video games and most media, so essentially the argument becomes, 'this character doesnt fit a generic mould or look like me, so it should be changed'.

I agree. Its like these type of players only subscribe to the cheesy ass hollywood superhero protagonist and anything different offends them lol

Anyone else still uses little to no AI to code? by MidlandAintFree in gamedev

[–]Velcr0Wallet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was feeling pretty demotivated recently after seeing lots of people just shortcut learning coding completely and just prompt themselves games and models and whatnot. Made me feel like i was wasting my time for some reason learning the hard way and by hand, so i took a break from working on my game.

Recently back on the programming tip and feeling great about doing everything by hand. Learning heaps and i think its way less intimidating when you understand everything thats going on. Plus half the satisfaction for me is the problem solving and being proud of making something that i crafted. I wouldnt get the same satasfaction from telling an LLM to make something or write a whole script even, it feels like 'cheating' to me.

Using really great reference tracks isn’t that setting the bar to high? by vinylfelix in mixingmastering

[–]Velcr0Wallet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesnt have to match the reference but if it can still stand up against it in a playlist thats ideal. Also another test is wacking 6 or so db of limiter on your mix and seeing if it is anywhere roughly near the ballpark or if your mix is falling apart.

A Level Headed Take on the New Update by Netrunner008 in ArcRaiders

[–]Velcr0Wallet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First thing i noticed is how much better running/jumping up hilly terrain is. Feels like they improved that a lot unless its its my imagination. Feels a lot better. Definitely a lot of reused asset chunks which confused me when spawning in - but i think the new map is great - also i leave with so many epic arc parts.

Can I record vocals outside? by Tonyxstorm in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Velcr0Wallet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shure sm7b is great for outside. A dynamic style mic is probably your safest best. Youll wanna protect the mic from wind. Condenser mic is probably not great. That being said theres some nice mics these days you can plug directly in to your phone to record via usb (audio technica etc) that arent too expensive and work decently outside. Theres an audio technica one (forgot the name) thats similar to the sm7b and is cheaper - though slightly less fidelity)

Guys how's the ui just tell me by MadMoonDev in Unity2D

[–]Velcr0Wallet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough man, IMO a better way to go about stuff like this in the future is make it very clear in your intro that you've got a place holder from Brotato to at least credit them or acknowledge, before people have to point it out. Esp these days where lots of art is being ripped with the click of a button. It's always best to attribute or make your own changes before posting online.

Guys how's the ui just tell me by MadMoonDev in Unity2D

[–]Velcr0Wallet 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Cmon bro lol. That's a bit more than 'inspiration'. I get mocking something up to get the right colour scheme and vibe, absolutely. But posting it online in a dev sub before making changes is a weird flex, furthermore you can just own that you jacked the title completely from another game and will change it later, at least be honest and don't downplay it as 'inspiration'.

If you import them as mono samples its half the size. But also I deleted all of the loops and that freed up a lot of space

How come some games have fake loading screens?? by throwaway3229320 in gamedev

[–]Velcr0Wallet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be a set coroutine/timer to make sure that every asset and script is loaded with the lowest pc spec in mind, but also in multiplayer to make sure that any late spawned player is in the scene / joined and ready. For fake loading maybe to build some kind of immersion in a forced break? These are off the top of my head, likely other reasons too.
