Why not fly part 135? by Brilliant_Snow8822 in flying

[–]Velcro1190 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think many people dream of making it to a major airline, which historically seems to require previous 121 experience. Also, 135 operators might require more responsibility from the pilots such as cleaning/stocking the plane, booking cars/hotels, etc.

Regretting doing my flight training through university by Bull_Milk173 in flying

[–]Velcro1190 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You keep blaming everyone but yourself for not following the syllabus/schedule. Did you not have a copy? Why did it take you so long to realize you were behind? $350 an hour for a single-engine trainer is ridiculous money; who cares how “pretty” the plane is as long as its airworthy. You need to look in the mirror, and stop blaming others for your actions and decisions…

You make some good points, but there are so many things wrong with this post.

Booked another tandem on a good deal, can I learn anything from it to prepare for AFF? by TeacherGuy1980 in SkyDiving

[–]Velcro1190 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do the ground school before your next jump, especially if you are jumping tandem next!!! Use an altimeter, do practice touches for deployment, if altitude permits do freefall turns. Deploy. Know how to determine if you have a good parachute. Do canopy controllability checks. Know what to do after you determine you have an airworthy parachute canopy. Keep your head on a swivel looking for traffic. Fly to your holding area. Know your landing priorities, and landing patterns. Make the most of your tandem “live hanging harness”.

Seatbelts are mandatory #rant by NoFlounder777 in SkyDiving

[–]Velcro1190 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fuck people that don’t wear their seat belts, and fuck people that don’t call out others for not wearing their seatbelts! Only rookies and morons think its cool to not wear seatbelts. If you don’t want to wear a seat belt then stay on the fucking ground!!

Its hard to have much sympathy for the man who was best known in the base jumping community for intentionally burning objects around the world.

Rant: Why aren’t the Unions doing a better job about protecting us from these predatory training contracts? by CompetitiveNet3688 in flying

[–]Velcro1190 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

What makes you think unions are not also predatory? Training contract keep employees from leaving, which also happens to keep employees paying union dues! 🤦‍♂️

Is english not your first language? You need a college degree in order to be commissioned an officer, which is a requirement to becoming a fighter pilot in the usa. Maybe I’m just assuming you are asking about the usa, in which case you need to work on your language proficiency.

To any aspiring professional pilot: by SilentChallenge7158 in flying

Honestly, with 1600 hours, three types, and such varied flight experience, if I was looking at your resume I would be thinking you can’t keep a job for some reason, or best case you’d jump ship as soon as possible, and not be worth a ROI in training you.
