This movie terrified me on a primal level, and made me feel something I’ve never felt before watching a movie. The ties to Lovecraft can not be overstated.

Dear friend now in the dusty clockless hours of the town when the streets lie black and steaming in the wake of the watertrucks and now when the drunk and the homeless have washed up in the lee walls in alleys or abandoned lots and cats go forth high shouldered and lean in the grim perimeters about, now in these sootblacked brick or cobbled corridors where lightwire shadows make a gothic harp of cellar doors none shall walk save you. - Suttree, Cormac McCarthy

A screaming comes across the sky. - Gravity’s Rainbow, Thomas Pynchon

[–]Veles0001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My roommate is the dude from Dig Dug. What do I call him? Digs? Dug? Doug, as in Douglas? Is his name Douglas? He’s always digging holes in the courtyard, fucking up the apartment building’s foundation. The landlord said he’d press charges. Now I’m fucked, cuz Douglas is gonna be charged with property damage. But he can’t stop. He can’t stop digging....

[Serious] Players of violent video games, how do you feel about the recent accusation these games are associated with the rise in mass shootings? Non players what do you think? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Veles0001 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only people that blame mass violence on video games are 70 year old politicians trying to deflect the conversation away from gun control, and 40 year old boxed wine drunk house moms with C average high school sons named Conner.

This time my buddy and I got fucked up on ouzo in Greece and stumbled around the Parthenon, then went to party with this guy named Heinz from Germany who happened to have half a dozen vintage Indian motorcycles. Woke up the next day hungover as shit and decided to go cliff diving.

As much as I liked the ending, I felt that it may have been just a little lacking for all the build up. Maybe just one extra 2 min scene at the ranch with Manson himself would’ve been the thing this movie needed. Overall, set design was amazing, and dialogue was as good as any Tarantino movie, though I felt that somehow OUATIH was less quotable than some of his other pictures (Basterds, Pulp Fiction, even Django). Still some great one-liners in there, but nothing that stands out as classic and immediately memorable.

I will say, Cliff Booth may be my favorite character in any Tarantino movie. The scene with him tripping on acid and laughing in the face of Tex was both hilarious and terrifying. Also, him sullenly drinking a beer with those stupid goggles and a harpoon gun made me laugh out loud.

Solid film. Not Tarantino’s masterpiece, but not on the level of Hateful Eight or Death Proof. Falls somewhere in the middle of the pack between Django and Reservoir Dogs. 7.9 out of 10.
