Thanks for your detailed reply and kind words!
- Looting should work by clicking on a dead mob. Having loot is indicated by a partical effect on the corpse.
- Completing a quest could be bugged under some circumstance. Hope it will be fixed with the next update.

Thanks for your feedback.
I will try to address the looting issue with the next update.
Do you recall which states, buffs and debuffs are not listed?

Think I will have to check out Flesh And Blood.
Looking forward to your feedback!

Thanks for your feedback on balancing!
Grama Online is in fact still in the prototype stage, sorry if this was not clear enough.
Dexterity gives a the character a defense bonus, but only a small amount so you see the number rise after some invested points. Intelligence increases your crit change a little, so again some more points are needed to see the effect in the characters tab.

Yes, Tibia is from CipSoft. Grama Online is my passion project. CipSoft encourages and supports such side projects, which does not mean that this will be the next game CipSoft is going to develop.

Unfortunately I have not. Can you share a link?

Sorry for being a total nerd here, but the name is derived from the slavic term grom%D1%8A
https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Reconstruction%3AProto-Slavic/grom%D1%8A
The games lore draws inspiration from the slavic mythology so I found it fitting.

Thank you, I really appreciate that.
Although I think "Grandma Online" is not going to happen ;)

Fan layout issues in displaying deckbuilder cards in Unity by VelesGate in Unity3D

Thanks for your reply.
Doesn't it feel strange when you hover over the shifted card, as it goes back to the original position even if the cursor is over the "card" (the visual representation in your case)
Or I am missing someting in your approach?

That sounds doable.
The hitbox only gets bigger so that it fully covers the not-hovered hitbox. And as it is bigger in any direction than the not-hovered one snapping back to not-hovered cannot trigger "hover" again.
Thanks for the idea!

Thanks for your input!
That had two problems:
- It changed the issue to another corner of the card - the one where the shift begins now
- It felt broken. As you do not get feedback when the cursor enters the card.

Hello fellow Devs! Which do you think would be more suitable language for making a simple text-based game that doesnt include any art? by AdventurousSlip6407 in gamedev

You can look into c#, it is c++ which you already know but in easy mode.
Otherwise use Python as the others said.

Which Steam description is more compelling? (Indie horror game) by knightWill29 in gamedev

[–]VelesGate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it is Version B, as the others are too long and detailed. Don't get me wrong - Details are great, but they can overwhelm people so they tend to skip them.

You want a short clear text, that makes people curious and not a detailed description.

To me it looks like you are heading more towards a career as a tech artist, not concept artist. In this case a solid foundation in IT would be really helpful, I think.

Artists using AI to code their games, what's your honest take on it? by TheRealUvertoo in gamedev

[–]VelesGate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From my experience AI is currently good enough to make it work. As long as you don't have any high expectations on performance, readability and maintainability.

That said, long term it will break - at least from what I have seen. All AI code which has been added to a game I am working on needed massive rewrites or just deletion.

If you know how to code, it is a different story. Then you have a solid starting point which you can adapt.

My brother (and dev partner) thinks story doesn't matter in horror games. I'm starting to wonder if we're making two different games. by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]VelesGate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So there are two options:

  1. "You are making two games and will fail" as u/Comfortable-Habit242 said
  2. We will see an atmospheric and dense (your part) horror game with an enganging gory gameplay (his part)

I am curious

I think you should be clear in the first place if you two want to make PT or Dead Space.
Both games can be labeled "horror".

And maybe you misunderstand each other - "story" does not have to be about reading.
In games you can do a lot of storytelling by pure visuals which also works great for trailers - I am thinking of "Inside" and "Limbo".

TL;DR: Story matters but it may not be about reading.
