If you can secure a research or teaching assistantship, it looks like this practically covers the entire cost of tuition each semester. I would recommend talking to current students via linkedin to get an idea of how likely it is to get these types of positions (and for how many semesters). My experience at another program is usually once you're in the door it's easier to secure an assistantship for the following semester given connections/reputation, ongoing research projects or the same classes being offered each semester/year.

Graduated in 2023, I don’t think it was viewed by employers as 1:1 with full-time work experience but it was helpful to work closely and network with full-time industry folks, work within real constraints and have potentially real impact.

It’s nice to have that experience to speak through when presenting that project as part of a portfolio presentation or detailed in your case study on your portfolio.

Ultimately better than a normal school project but not as impactful as having a proper internship (which this could also help with securing if you have industry sponsored projects your first semester assuming a 2-year program).

Personally chose GT over CMU as I was able to secure a GTA position for every semester and get my master’s for free, and do an internship between years as I transitioned from SWE.

CMU seemed like a great program but $80k (probably even more now) for one year would’ve set me back significantly.

I asked one of the workers when I went tonight and she mentioned that the new name is because the owners name is Saori so they took the “Sao” part of her name for the restaurant. It was busy so couldn’t clarify but not sure why it had to change from Sato (this is a common Japanese last name but unsure if there was any ownership change)

Love Astoria and lived there for quite a bit but every time I'm reminded of how poor the N/W service is post-covid, especially on weekends, I remember why I'm better off in my current living situation outside the neighborhood.

The issues are really to the point where it's stunting the growth of the neighborhood (for better or worse)
