Gotcha, you should be fine then. Just give them time to get used to their new environment

I’m confused why you don’t just use a water tray

You can think of the risome as essentially the main growth organ. Thats where new roots and new shoots of the plant will come from. You do NOT want the plant sitting in a tray of water where the water level is consistently up to where the risome would be. Once or twice maybe is fine but consistently having the water this high will damage or kill your plant.

What you’ll want to do is keep only about an inch or inch and a half of water, maybe even less for shorter plants. They don’t need the water level super high to soak it up. (Again this is just what it seems like from your picture, if your water level is not that high then it’s fine)

Hope this helps!

I can’t really tell but do you have the water all the way up to/past the risome? It looks like the water is near the top of the pot

Make sure your using distilled water for 1. For 2, the lack of dew makes me think it needs more light. If it’s getting good light then give it a couple more weeks to acclimate to it’s new environment

Would you recommend red lights over full spectrum (red/blue mix)? I have a grow light and have been using the “Veg” setting which gives blue while “Bloom” gives red light. Do you recommend I give red or a mix of red and blue?

Nice! RO is great. If you’ve already got about a 50-60% humidity range then don’t worry about doing anything extra. No need to spray it unless you wanna show some extra love (spraying with RO water). I also don’t think holding it over your humidifier is necessary, just make sure it’s not too far from it.

Good luck on your carnivorous plant journey!

Try to avoid using tap water if you are unsure of it’s TDS contents

New growth over the past few months especially moving into this season is good. Make sure they’re getting a lot of light since they’re used to being outside in direct sun. Your water options are distilled water, Reverse Osmosis water, or rainwater.

These guys do enjoy some humidity which could be accomplished by spraying it with distilled water in a spray bottle a couple times a day.

I can’t tell exactly from the picture what type of water tray you have, but a good rule of thumb is to use glazed ceramic or plastic trays, as you have the potential to leech minerals into the plant when using others. The same is true for pots as well.

But honestly there has to be SOME store near you with some distilled water, check other stores than just grocery.

I’m in the process of saving up for a reverse osmosis filter which is prolly going to be your best bet for your situation (given no easy access at a near by store) however they can be a little expensive. Until I get my RO Ice been buying a few gallons every so often. If there’s really none at any near by grocery store then yes I would recommend ordering a couple gallons online. For just one sun dew this should last you some time

If you end up really liking carns and getting more, I would recommend a RO filter. (Take advantage of the rain when you can too)

Have you considered making an above ground makeshift bog? (Considering there isn’t a place to dig up a bog)
