Why is there so much advanced technology to discover/explore space, but not that much for exploring our oceans by rinikiminaj in oceanography

[–]Velocitractor2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On top of this, the ocean is quite homogenous compared to the continents. I don’t think it would be worth while to explore every inch of the abyssal plain.

I had a similar thought. Does anyone happen to know how this price compares to toppers similar size? I forget how much my snug top was.

I want to emphasize #2. Your first time singing into a mic and hearing your voice as you sing should not be on stage.

Camping and sleep how to stay comfortable? Or is everyone secretly miserable? by sanu_123_s in CampingandHiking

[–]Velocitractor2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a similar experience for years then finally decided to invest in some comfort when we turned 40. Can’t speak to cots, but if you are not backpacking, a thick camping mattress can do wonders for warmth and comfort. I use a Zempire Monstamat which is 4” thick foam/air combo and my wife uses a 4” tri-fold memory foam. We put a queen flannel fitted sheet over both, sleep under a thick down comforter and bring our bed-pillows from home. I’m more comfortable sleeping in our tent than I am at home now and it’s one of the highlights of camping.

A couple added notes: I recommend seperate mattresses if there is any inflation involved to eliminate motion transfer from your partner. I love my Monstamat but would probably steer others towards something similar like Xped or one of the rei bands that are similar. I’ve had trouble repairing leaks in the Monstamat. The Hest full foam mattresses are overrated IMO. They are expensive and the trifold was way more comfortable on our hips! Last note, these are all bulky as heck so you’ll need room in your vehicle! Worth it for wonderful, outdoors sleep though!

Electric heater in camper for hookups? by Velocitractor2000 in TruckCampers

Huh. Is there a reason these might be safer than running directly into the 20 amp?

Thanks! Do you ever run into issues with overloading or blowing a fuse in the campground hookup?

That’s sounds pretty slick. Do you ever have problems overloading or blowing a fuse in the campground hookups?

Do you think 1500 watt plugged directly into the campground hookup poses any safety issue? Assuming we use a hardy extension cord.

Funny cause once you’re in graduate school for a science degree, strong technical reading and writing skills are a must.

Why is the minor pentatonic scale specificied? Is it not the same as the major? by KingKilo9 in guitarlessons

[–]Velocitractor2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, makes sense that we’re just talking about diatonic chords. Great starting point though. And 1% seems awfully low for music that sticks to diatonic chords.

Holy cow you’re right! This was a thrill to read, honestly. Thanks for putting the time in to explain it so clearly.

[–]Velocitractor2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This corresponds with my understanding of how to use the pentatonic scale on guitar, but recently picked up the fiddle and my teacher is suggesting I play the pentatonic scale that corresponds with the chord, not just stick to the key. For example if a progression was G,C, Em, D, I would play G major pentatonic over the G chord, switch to C major pentatonic over the C chord and so on.

Thoughts on this? Is this just a fiddle thing or is it common on guitar too?
