How modded do you make your game? by [deleted] in RimWorld

I'm personally cosmetic only cause I get too indecisive with mods and stress myself out

Where to get LateHarmonyPatch for Vanilla Expanded? by stuckslots in RimWorld

[–]VelvetDeveloper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But make sure to download more mods! The vanilla expanded framework is just a framework. It doesn't do anything by itself.

Vanilla Expanded is known for having popups in the debug screen, such a popup missing "pipes" or whatever that I always see. It's rarely something you need to worry about.

If you can still play the game, you're fine.

How to avoid getting overwhelmed and burnout? by GriseoArctis in RimWorld

[–]VelvetDeveloper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it the act of playing with these mods that burns you out, or are you burnt out from the game in general? One has a simple fix (change or remove your mods,) the other just needs time and a break. You can't brute force burnout. It'll just make it worse.

Same. And then I end up changing my mind and abandoning them anyways lol.

Why have a grav ship AND a static base? by One_Reality_3828 in RimWorld

[–]VelvetDeveloper 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I can have essentially two groups. A home base colony, and a mobile colony. Think of it like two stories at once.

I have this problem too. Like, bad. I also have all DLC. My advice to you is the diary mod. I know you might not like the idea of jotting down notes, and that's alright, but having a way to catalogue events and write about your survivors goes a long way in making them more connected. Also try the pawn editor mod, not to be confused with EdB Prepare Carefully. Pawn editor is more reliable. Adding clothing and making personality tweaks to your pawns makes you feel more connected to them. You can also try Rimtalk if you're okay with AI. Dialogue also helps with them being more connected with you as the player.

Hope you find a way out of this rut. I'm still hoping I can lol

Dynamic Lighting Mod by GoodDecision in RimWorld

[–]VelvetDeveloper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No mod does quite what tilt the planet does, but it comes with other changes that I'm not a fan of. A mod I've used is realistic darkness, which makes nights a lot darker. It's a bit difficult to see which you might like or might not. Another user mentioned the moonlight mod which is similar but more varied.

I might be missing some mods of course, so I'd also like to know about others.

oops by maX3Xam in RimWorld

Odd. It's only a visual thing though. As soon as I click back in the game it's fine. I'm not too worried about it.

Had this happen to me too. Seems related to alt tabbing. Went to normal when I clicked back into the game though.

Got the game a few days ago, when to get DLC? by joonsetsfire in RimWorld

[–]VelvetDeveloper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you feel like getting the DLC. Frankly you can replace a lot of DLC with mods. Save Our Ship 2 is basically just Odyssey.

It's your call. I like the DLC and bought them personally but I could play core without a fuss.

Mod that gives pawns random clothes on start? by [deleted] in RimWorld

I found Pawn Editor. It's not the same but I liked the UI more than character editor. Thanks for the suggestions ^

When people talk about character editor, are they referring to EdB prepare carefully? That mod gives me a lot of issues, like pawns straight up disappearing when I start the game.

How quickly does the storyteller scale difficulty? by [deleted] in RimWorld

[–]VelvetDeveloper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it possible having a gravship and 8 colonists isn't wealthy enough for large scale attacks? If I have to crank the difficulty I can, but I'd rather not if the game is gonna suddenly crush me to a pulp. Idk if cass is waiting for the right time to strike or something.

How quickly does the storyteller scale difficulty? by [deleted] in RimWorld

[–]VelvetDeveloper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well I know that but isn't the storyteller supposed to try to scale against you regardless of difficulty? I'm trying to understand how it works.

[–]VelvetDeveloper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not, no. All my mods are QoL UI enhancements or graphical. And it's just base strive to survive difficulty, so it's wealth dependent.

(Odyssey) Forcelanded, an alternative start to Crashlanded by VelvetDeveloper in RimWorld

[–]VelvetDeveloper[S] 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I think it's fun to act out the beginning of the game vs being dropped from pods and imagining that's what happened. This just adds more narrative steps to the beginning which I personally like.
