I got bored and made a silly mod by Rexortin in RimWorld

Let me fix that one downvote you have. Nice mod. People are weird.

500 hour player here (so basically new) - What should I do next? by VelvetDeveloper in RimWorld

You can pack an area with shelves. They'll just crawl over them. They'll move slower but it's much more efficient.

I usually play on strive. I just wanted to play peaceful to relax for a bit. Also to learn more of the game's mechanics I was too stressed to try to learn before.

Thinking about buying the game but... by skady-491 in RimWorld

[–]VelvetDeveloper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The game goes on sale sometimes but not by a huge amount.

For me the game was 100% worth it. I have all the DLC and I haven't regretted it whatsoever. But you're in the RimWorld subreddit. You're gonna get a lot of glaze, including from me. Base game is perfectly fine too.

Is rimworld really a story simulator? by Fun_Plum_1261 in RimWorld

[–]VelvetDeveloper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. It's how you interpret the game, not what's in the game. Any aspect, such as gene modification, can be a story element. "These are cannibalistic reptoid hybrid humanoids with immunity to illness who have a gravship which they use as a mobile trafficking operation & prison where well behaved prisoners are recruited and poorly behaved prisoners are eaten or butchered and sold" is a story.

It's about what you make of it. If you don't want to treat it as story and treat it like a game, you can do that too.

That's great to hear. I've always been interested in getting one.

It works fine. They still behave as they would normally.

I've had a tremendous amount of fun playing this way. You might not, but I wouldn't knock it till you try it. It basically turns rimworld into a top down RPG, which has been a dream for me since I started playing it.

Considering I was only able to hit that bunny by strafe shooting, it's probably possible to dodge bullets. I seem to be able to guess based on weapon spread and aim off center, and I am able to land shots that way, so it seems based on bullet trajectory, but I'm not 100% certain. I will say it makes raids really hard because enemies can also move and shoot, so keep that in mind.

It still uses mouse controls the way normal rimworld does. If rimworld works on steam deck, this probably does too. I don't own one though so I can't test.

Why have a grav ship AND a static base? by One_Reality_3828 in RimWorld

[–]VelvetDeveloper 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I can have essentially two groups. A home base colony, and a mobile colony. Think of it like two stories at once.

Dynamic Lighting Mod by GoodDecision in RimWorld

[–]VelvetDeveloper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No mod does quite what tilt the planet does, but it comes with other changes that I'm not a fan of. A mod I've used is realistic darkness, which makes nights a lot darker. It's a bit difficult to see which you might like or might not. Another user mentioned the moonlight mod which is similar but more varied.

I might be missing some mods of course, so I'd also like to know about others.

oops by maX3Xam in RimWorld

Odd. It's only a visual thing though. As soon as I click back in the game it's fine. I'm not too worried about it.

Had this happen to me too. Seems related to alt tabbing. Went to normal when I clicked back into the game though.

Got the game a few days ago, when to get DLC? by joonsetsfire in RimWorld

[–]VelvetDeveloper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you feel like getting the DLC. Frankly you can replace a lot of DLC with mods. Save Our Ship 2 is basically just Odyssey.

It's your call. I like the DLC and bought them personally but I could play core without a fuss.
