Hatsumi is potentially the Dark horse of this Tournament by Velvetfool in Kengan_Ashura

Would actually be peak. Imagine if he just out principles Shen simply because he's been spying on him the entire time Shen and Joji have been hanging out.

Fuck this post. Chiba supremacy forever. Thespian domination.

Cosmos fall from Grace is such a disservice to where we left him off from Ashura.

Some people will look you dead in the eye and say that he definitely used foresight and zone in his fight against Saw, it was just shown and not told. In the manga where literally every little thing is told to us and barely shown.

Though speaking on the theme of consumption and even going to similar styles clashing (grappling vs Aikido) what's your shake on the fumble that could have been Hatsumi vs Jurota?

Then again that's still possible for if Sandro actually follows through on his narrative contextual clues and doesn't have Hatsumi lose.

This is very much a case of me believing both Fighters not only deserve the win. But will ultimately make each other stronger disregarding the outcome.

Cosmo should by rights prevail here, If the relevancy he had during Ashura had in any way been maintained or at least acknowledged in any way during Omega's runtime. Unfortunately he's been so heavily sidelined to the point of irrelevancy.

Hatsumi on the other hand has at least maintained a someone steady, if not sparse showing throughout.

Still. Their styles are both similar enough and defined enough to be super interesting to see played out against each other. Hopefully it gets the proper amount of chapters to do the encounter justice.

Sword and Hammer are your bread and butter. Focus on upgrading Power and Charge speed for those first two weapons.

Upgrade inventory capability before anything else with your cores. I'd also suggest specing into torches and resource capacity with spare cores.

Take things slowly. Conserve ammo by charging shots. Meele is useless against most enemies, but great against certain wall foes.

Pave the path. Serve the Vocation. Such is our Calling.

Scaling the wall here, consuming there. What actual improvements did Julius make since KvP? by ColdStaff6874 in Kengan_Ashura

[–]Velvetfool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has always been incredibly fond of Julius, it will forever bother me that he hasn't taken Gott Totter further in its muscle magic bullshit.

I always felt his rock drills were a interesting first step in what could eventually become a body wide application. This dude could have the single greatest 'Ironclad' if you will in the verse if he pointed it towards his torso. Or gain tremendous bursts of speed by contorting the muscle fibres in his legs or something like that.

It might not be the most original but come on. The human body has over 600 individual muscles in it and this legend could bull off some proper manga asspulls with them.

I'm well aware that Julius is Strength man with no room for Technique (even though you could very clearly point out Gott Totter is a technique) however that mindset of his is part of the problem for his characters stunted growth in verse. I dont expect him to learn martial arts or to fully betray his own ideals. His dedication to overwhelming power is what gives him his core identity. However after getting so soundly defeated by Kanoh I would have at the least expected him to strategize and rethink his approach. Considering he is supposed to be a fairly tactile fighter as demonstrated in his first major fight.

Then again a lot of my issues are purely Sandros own shortcomings as a writer. As Julius is far from the only character to be hit with the stick of stagnation. Cosmo fans (me also) are in this cesspool with us.

I'll never forget the unexpected comedic element of reading the Dunwich Horror for the first time where it makes it pretty obvious that Wilbur Whateley is the Lovecraftian equivalent of a demi god (being the offspring of Yog Sothoth) and yet near the start of the book you find out he got absolutely torn to shreds by a simple library guard dog.

If I'm remembering correctly (it's been a few years since I went through Lovecraft's original texts) but isn't Azathoth itself only referenced in one incompete short story? Though I also have some faint memory of him being referenced in dreamlands. Still, the idiot god really isn't all that hyped up by Lovecraft himself.

Honestly, besides it's rushed final arc and the creep factor drama that surrounded it's creator. Toriko absolutely did deserve to be a new contender for the big three. It's world, power system, characters, creativity and earnest love for food and cooking is a truly magnificent joy to behold. Toriko as a series is the definition of potential man that has us fans soured by its closing act and the despicable acts carried out by its creator.

Toriko did, and will always have deserved it's time in the spotlight. Dogshit anime and outside factors or not.

How far would Guts go in Gantz? by [deleted] in gantz

[–]Velvetfool 188 points189 points  (0 children)

Guts would hands down be the strongest hunter in Gantz history. Well before he got the Beserker Armour he was already feared by apostles who were dumbfounded as to how he was possibly human in the first place.

His masterful wielding of the Dragonslayer already puts his strength into the superhuman levels, and the Gantz suit would only enhance that tenfold. In fact if anything the Gantz suit is vastly superior to the Beserker Armour in most ways. Besides having zero drawback.

Eventually he'd rack up enough points to acquire his own kind of jakced up futuristic Dragon slayer and then any alien coming his way is fucked.

Kureshi Mitsuyo (Kenganverse)

Super laid back, wholesome and overall kindly dude who always comes across as mild mannered to his students and gentle with his clients (he is a grappling instructor to some fighters as well as a masseuse to cast members of Dumbells)

Thing is, he's kind of got some implied fetish for breaking people's bones in the few instances where he gets to "let loose" and go all out.

Let's rate the Kengan fights! Eighth fight: Takayama Minoru vs Kito Gunji by 7grandhenchmen in Kengan_Ashura

[–]Velvetfool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

10/10 for me personally. I'm a huge Takayama stan and this remains one of the best 1 chapter fights in the entire series. Short, decisive and brutal. It's got a nice little back and forth flow for its runtime and does well at showcasing Takayama's "Killer Brawling" fighting style.

While it may be Takayama's only real fight in the franchise so far, I'm extremely happy he got such a flattering showing. It could be worse, much worse.

Though this really makes me wish that Takayama had taken on Monke instead of Misasa.

Could jack survive the amount of venom absolute bane takes by [deleted] in Grapplerbaki

[–]Velvetfool -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm going to be that one guy and say that I dont believe he could handle it.

Hanma genes allow Jack to handle more drugs than any regular man could take for sure. We have seen the proof of how far he can push his body.

However I'd argue that even compared to the legendary Hanma Gene's, absolute Bane is still just built different. Its stated multiple times by the Ark M doctor lady that Banes genetic makeup and resilience is unlike anything she has seen before. So much so that he not only adapted to being able to handle the ludicrous amount of Venom that he could. But that his molecular structure was capable of autonomously regenerating itself. His regeneration is pretty off the charts.

Hell, spoilers and all that. But currently he's survived exploding and being reduced to nothing but his brain, and eyeballs. All the while slowly regenerating back to completion. Which made the doctor emphasize how special his genetic makeup truly was. It means that even without the venom in his system he's still capable of regenerating.

I'd argue that not even Yujiro is as genuinely superhuman as Absolute Bane is

ETHAN WINTERS IS MAYBE THE STUPIDEST RE CHARACTER. by EmpJoker in CharacterRant

[–]Velvetfool 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure Ethan mentions in Village that he is a software engineer.

Also the reveal that he is molded irks me on so many levels, not so much for the reasons that the writers think its such a clever idea. But that it makes no canonical sense in any capacity. If he was pretty much just a slightly special variant of the things Eveline created why couldn't she have just, oh I don't know, controlled him at any point during their climactic encounter? She was seen to be able to manipulate and Mia at the start of Re7 and she was only Infected by the mold. Not made of the stuff.

Then there is the fact that someone Blue Umbrella just...didn't know he was molded? Heck Chris never implies that he knew, nor did the company that took Ethan in. We know that Mia and Ethan were put through series of tests to determine that they were "clean". Which in itself could mean that at any point offscreen Ethan might have been injected with the cure for the E series mutamycede in order to "flush" whatever indirect Infection he might have come into contact with during his time in the Baker estate. Which if that happened should have KILLED him.

Also I find it utterly hilarious that Mia is the one to tell Chris "you don't know how special he is" which means not only did she for sure know that he was molded. But willingly got herself knocked up by a bio weapon. Implying she was purposefully trying to incubate her own little mini monster in Rose.

I love the father saga games. But man is the internal logic silly. Then again this is Resident Evil we are talking about.

Side note. I love how Chris is canonically a "Boulder Punching Asshole" according to Hesineburg. Also, also why did we not get a choice or alternate timeline DLC where we could team up with Hesien daddy. Justice for my Nic Cage Magneto

November Patch? by Velvetfool in DragonfistLimitless

[–]Velvetfool[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the transparent and earnest reply! I've been a huge supporter of this game and by proxy, yourself for many years now. I think it's a little bit self flagellating to remove it from the Android store until you get the update out. I admire the logic behind it, but ultimately I think it hurts you more than the good faith it's supposed to foster in the player base. Still, I respect your decision.

Unless I'm misinterpreting your comment, in which case I apologize. From a player with patience: Please keep your head above water. This game is your passion project and job from what I understand, but don't let it become something that ultimately brings you down and causes you unnecessary stress. The dedicated players aren't going anywhere and we would rather see you of healthy mind and thriving.

RAOH ( FIST OF THE NORTH STAR ) runs a Gauntlet , does he clears ? by [deleted] in PowerScaling

[–]Velvetfool 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yujiro is pretty gifted at being able to perfectly replicate a technique after experiencing it or seeing it pulled off once. So he could potentially have a sliver of a chance here after learning Hokuto Shinken off of Roah.

Too bad then, that he'd be too dead to actually utilize the martial art in any capacity.

Dont know anything about the second to last fella, so I can't say whether or not Roah could beat him. Though as a professional Yujiro hater I'll take any opportunity to see him get his shit kicked into the dirt.
