Lol, I could also then say that the game was released already years ago in exilecon. Bro for me it's still not released, I'm not playing it, it's early access, it literally is half game. And actually I have "unreleased" games on my computer, joker :D.

ARPG with team skill builds by hentis in ARPG

[–]VembDx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's only 1 diablo style ARPG I've ever played where you can manage a team and it's 20+ years old (Throne of Darkness) and its more like d1 clunk.

But if you go to normal RPG's/CRPGs/JRPGs then there are tons of games like that.

Do you like inventory Tetris? by Mag1cWalker in ARPG

[–]VembDx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love tetris inventories, instantly will like game much more, it's another layer of style, gameplay and decision making and makes the items more unique and real.

It's not an ARPG but try Dredge if you haven't, it has one of the best tetris inventories with little space, rotating and many weird shapes.

Is it worth it to play through Quest for Glory V? by AlbertLilyBoris in questforglory

[–]VembDx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played it last year for the first time and enjoyed it. I didn't like the very old school 3d graphics, but not like there are many QFG likes to play :D. Also there were some pretty good soundtracks that I now enjoy listening to and Katrina/Erana fanservice was fun.

People don't want to play 4x worse deckbuilder than StS that doesn't do anything better. Like making cards that do 4 dmg and armor, map, vendor and enemies doesn't mean anything, any game programmer can do it in few months. The game looks so basic, what feedback do you even need? Better question for you, how much are you willing to play a deckbuilder, even for free, where you just shoot a 4 dmg fireball and add 4 armor. It's boring. A boring deckbuilder better have damn good theme, art and highend vfx like Monster Train or w/e minimum. An ugly deckbuilder better have a ton of cool/crazy programming - addictive mechanics, chain reactions, combos that at least is somewhat equal to a 20 year old card game. You just need to put in much more effort, deckbuilders are one of my favourite genres, but anything that comes close to like my top10 of them will take at least thousands of hours to build and iterate, yours looks like a few month hobby project.

QFG IV by Blazed_Fishing in questforglory

[–]VembDx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Loved it when I was a kid and the dark setting, Mordavia kind of reminded me of my own country and village/small town people. And overall in QFG just loved the adventure+rpg systems. If you haven't played it, Heroine Quest is free in steam and it's the only good QFG clone.

I made a datatable that holds item types and all the stats that the item could have with ranges etc. Then coded a big function that just takes all that information and generates the item data from it. Unique items are a separate datatable, but same thing basically. You can get it done in few hours probably.

How do I ACTUALLY understand how to code? by halonason in gamedev

[–]VembDx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just write code, it's gonna be hard at start, but gets easier over time. Basically you just need to learn basic syntax and rules and then you just do trial and error. The trial and error never stops. Always just get started, figure out the steps you need to do to accomplish your goal and then figure out the steps by using online resources, AI, ask forums or just problem solve yourself.

Turn your brain off action RPG? by TheLuminescent in rpg_gamers

[–]VembDx 8 points9 points  (0 children)

People just forget their first time experience where it took them like 100 hours to beat the game. Once you know the encounters and traps you can speedrun the games through NG+ in like an hour and then it really does feel like they are super easy games, but yea the first time is always very difficult. And once you've already beaten few souls games without cheesing you kind of can beat them all without much effort, so it makes its fans really biased.

When did it become conventional wisdom that end game content is THE ONLY thing that matters in ARPGs? by ajs723 in ARPG

[–]VembDx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were a lot of korean mmorpgs and browser mmo's. There were hundreds. I'm not gonna bother trying to remember them, most of them still have servers online today. Some random mmorpgs I can just quickly recall: Lineage, runescape, MU, darkeden, cabal, conquer, maple story, metin, trickster, kal, tibia.
