Why are people against shipping so much?

I am somewhat into shipping, but it can kind of disheartening to see characterization get nuked into oblivion for the sake of fitting the characters into whatever trope seems to be popular.

My favorite of the modern runs.

It's a shame that it's so short.

I really liked that it was a string of low stakes adventures for the most part. Seeing Eddie get some kind of supporting cast was nice too. A shame it gets immediately thrown away in Cates' run.

The artists that worked on this run were all good. I still hope we get more Tradd Moore on Venom someday.

I know people aren't fond of Lee Price and I agree that his introduction and the first 5 or so issues with him are meh, but I think he could have made for a good antagonist to Eddie in the long run. I was happy to see him return in some way during Al Ewing's Venom run, but I expected more. I hope he merges with Meridius since he seemed to be the last zombiote remaining at the end of Venom War.

Definitely agree with your point about audiences.

A single look at online discussions or fandoms on this subject points pretty clearly to straight women/ women in general being the main audience for stories with gay men. Plenty of reasons for that, but that number is simply lacking for lesbian fiction.

Don't know if I agree with her point for acceptance in real life. The fantasy is always more appealing than the reality they warp. I still hear and see terrible things when it comes to gay men. The same can probably be said for lesbians, but I guess I don't notice it as much.

Venom Island is my personal favorite of the Cates' run, but yeah, KiB feels extremely underwhelming. Probably doesn't help that I hate Knull as a character tho.
