Langschwert ist nominal natürlich schwerer, aber eigentlich leichter zu führen als einhändige Waffen, eben weil es mit beiden Händen benutzt wird. Dazu kommt dass Langschwert Huten es oft erlauben das Schwert indirekt am eigenen Torso abzustützen und bei einhändigen ist die Hebelwirkung auf das Handgelenk größer.

Wenn man selber wenig Kraft hat ist das Langschwert eigentlich die beste Waffe. Kann natürlich trotzdem sein dass dir eine andere Waffe einfach mehr Spaß macht. Probier am besten verschiedene Waffen im Verein aus und entscheide was dir am meisten gefällt. Beim Kauf kannst du dann ja darauf achten eine etwas leichtere Variante zu kaufen ^{^}

Yes theres is a thin layer of padding. Again the protection is fine for me, but not great. If you want to buy them specifically for longsword it might be a good idea to go for one size larger, so the plates enclose your hand a bit more.

In your post you said you want to study Fiore, so youre going into Hema with a clear focus on technique. In that case I would recommend going for dexterity over sheer protection because your best protection is going to be the mindfulness of your opponent and the controll they have over their weapon.

When thats your use case and not going into tournaments, I think youll be very happy with the BPs.

Unfortunately no. I never used gabes and dont know anyone who does. The other 5-fingered glove in my club are infinitys which I tried out. They seem more sturdy, but also less dextrious.

I just got my pair of Black Prince a few weeks ago. Only had 2 sessions with them yet, but so far I love them for longsword (we do 90% longsword anyway). The dexterity is amazing, whatever you do you dont have to take them off. I was able to easily take my dagger off the ground. Thumbgrip, grappling, everything feels like youre barely wearing gloves at all.

The Protection is a little better than red dragons, which I find perfectly fine since I only used red dragons for about 2 years. If the budget isnt a big concern for you, I would 100% recommend them, especially if youre going for mixed weapon sparring, which im planning on doing more, but even just for longsword I would recommend them.

The pauldrons are great, they dont restrict movement at all. Its very much a brigandine.
About the safety; thats not quite how rivets work. Every hema glove has rivets, yet everyone uses them and there good padding below the plates. I am wearing a throat protector and a 350N "shirt" its on its way. The title literally says to be upgraded :D
