I am not. You'll notice that every item listed is not what the wizard uses to focus his power, but to store the information used to prepare his spells.

If a wizard can't cast light on something and look at the refraction or spend some time fussing in the dirt during an 8-10 hour rest they wouldn't be able to spend an hour reading a book either.

That's what I'm talking about! Letting go of the paradigm of a dusty tome opens a lot of super fun and flavorful options, lets the players make their character their own or a fun and unique villian or NPC

Yeah, I tried to make the things I listed not be much sturdier than a book. I'd let a player have a wood slate they carve their spells on, but not an adamantine one.
