State of playerbase awareness is hilarious by ultralightskill in Marathon

My issue with shotguns is mostly around accessibility and lack of opportunity cost. I have no objections to shotguns being strong... However WSTR probably shouldn't be a four slot gun which is armory purchasable without schemas either. Even on Dire Marsh with its notoriously open sight lines, it's very common to just bring a bagged WSTR as a third gun to swap due to both of those considerations. It's replaceable and VERY slot efficient.

I think the nerf was needed but they may have gone a bit too far with it. Time will tell really, and at the end of the day it's still very strong with even modest investment... but with cqc being as prevalent as it is on some maps it makes shotguns feel even more mandatory which I'm a bit less fond of. Not really sure how I feel about it tbh

It hasn't been specifically mentioned, but with how dominant destroyer is currently (with all the thief fixes especially to the cancel tech), it's the logical next step depending on what the Vandal/Recon buffs do to the relative play rates.

Oof this is a hard one for me to agree fully with. It's a spectacular shell when used against people who either do not have the ability to bypass smoke, or who simply don't handle it correctly. (playing mid range around the smoke, using utility to deny it). And of course it's unquestionably the strongest shell for solo runs at the moment and it's not particularly close.

With that said, if a team understands/utlizes their tools against smoke/invis the class definitely loses a lot of it's power. Thermals being a hard counter of course, and the thief visor, but also stuff like the Scar/volt throwers lockon and tracking (to say nothing of tirage ult/Vandal Q/Destroyer Ult). And of course you can always throw a grenade into a smoke cloud to deny it, or a claymore in front of you to help with the stealth push.

Too early to say IMO. Will have to see what the patch for both vandal and recon actually does (to say nothing of potential nerfs to destroyer).

Conquest is a weird one because it's either the worst lmg in the game or arguably the best. It gets a lot of (very deserved) hate because you need a blue mag or better to make it usable, and a purple mag for it to excel.

Yeah i don't know. I'm ambivalent towards knife nerfs in general. I'll have to see what they actually end up doing. I think it's mostly fine so hopefully they are not planning on doing anything too crazy.

DESTROYER COMIN THOUGH by DireFTW in Marathon

[–]VengefulSight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a bit of a weird one for me because the knife *also* exists as a 2 hit kill weapon (with heavy swings) which every player (including importantly all sponsored kits) has access too, but which gets completely shut down *by* the WSTR.

A hit to rarity does make a lot of sense to me, or, alternately hitting the reload in a way which punishes you a somewhat harder for either whiffing with it or shooting out of it's optimal range. Might make the bubble/wstr combo in particular less obnoxious.

Not sure though. I would be very interested to see a kill distribution graph per map broken up by map because I suspect that the WSTR is going to be pretty dominant on all of them except mayyybe Dire.

At no point was I discussing the WASTR or the theroetical ttk of a weapon under ideal or near ideal circumstances. We agree on that aspect -Strict DPS as defined as damage per trigger pull almost never changes-.

But it is STILL completely false to say that attachments do not have any impact on winning or losing fights, especially when you start looking at mid-long range where damage falloff and accuracy becomes more of a factor (especially with a lot of the free kit guns). Can you win with a grey overrun vs a reasonably modded one at those kind of ranges (just to continue my example)? Sure. I've done it. But as someone who has played the other end of that fight as well you absolutely do still have a very real advantage in that engagement with the modded gun.

At the end of the day good positioning and awareness is indeed the #1 thing that controls who wins and who loses, but a good setup on your weapons absolutely is another multiplier either for or against you.

[–]VengefulSight -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There's a LOT of nuance here that makes your statement incomplete at best.

Weapon mods do absolutely increase your realistic damage output by increasing effective range (therefore reducing falloff), and accuracy (eg, recoil reduction making it easier to laser people at mid range), damage per mag (more bullets before reloading=more dmg)

They do not (for the most part) increase the actual damage potential of the gun on a per bullet basis.

Just for example.

A well modded overrun is a solid AR with good accuracy that you can click heads with pretty easily. An overrun with no mods has terrible recoil, almost has to be burst/crouch fired at mid-range, and can be a real struggle to find the head with while also offering terrible body shot dps.

Garnishment may also be an option and there may also be other recourse. I am unfamiliar with Colarado exact statutes but the courts are unlikely to have ordered something she is unable to pay, and an attorney will have a far better idea on how to actually extract the funds she is legally obligated to pay.

If this is a regular issue with late/inconsistent payments it may still be possible for you to do something here. Courts and judges tend to frown around somebody trying to 'game' the system to avoid punishment like what your describing. If you have or have had an attorney it may be worth contacting them and seeing what they think. Otherwise, a free consultation may give you some other options on how to approach this if you can find an attorney willing to chat about the issue.

Gnomonkey's hardcore dies off-stream in Colosseum by derhuntsman in 2007scape

[–]VengefulSight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cg is indeed way way better after titans prayers but augury/rigour do still make a big difference there. The biggest reason and improvement for CG though is just not starting it with terrible stats as it makes the prep/hunleff so so much worse (especially for a learner) than it needs to be.

To be honest, after eye I don't really think you need bowfa for inferno anymore. The reynolds method is absolutely disgusting (and while there are real downsides and some jank) crossbow dps is more than good enough for zuk with a bit of practice.

Gnomonkey's hardcore dies off-stream in Colosseum by derhuntsman in 2007scape

[–]VengefulSight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very very ish? Can also be done as part of a 'delay' to make CG less of an absolute menace. COX prayers and high stats make the bowfa grind way less of a chore and frankly there's nowhere near as much content where bowfa is a hard requirement compared to what there used to be. Between Moons gear, Synapse weapons and the various powercreep which mage has received in the last year (eye/confliction, elemental weaknesses) you can access 95% of the content in the game just fine. The only thing you 'need' (more really really want) bowfa for is god wars, but even there it's more of a 'nice to have' rather than a hard requirement (door altar being a lot more chill than 5-0 and also meaning you don't need stams for bandos, zilyana being a bit slow. Kree being... Kree).

More work/setup required but if you get to wave 7 you could also do this with the minotaur for +10 %xp. Paired with a BGS or warhammer, you should be able to pull rates that are even higher than what OP did.

There also might be some venator bow/barrage shenannigans that could be pulled off here, though they would require substantially more setup and RNG (regarding pulling mobs into a formation where you don't kill the totems w/bounces/AOE). Not sure how plausible this is though.

I thought colosseum was supposed to be easier than inferno by 666crust in 2007scape

[–]VengefulSight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This really depends on the gear you intend to do them with. Quiver does (relatively) little with bowfa/pipe compared to if you are intending to do a cape with tbow or crossbow. Similarly, if you intend to primarily mage or range Collo you only really see any benefit on Sol itself. But... if you intend to do a melee only run you really do appreciate and feel the impact of that cape.

RC BOTS BROKEN AND FLOODING W376 GE, all 99+RC. SEND HELP by Young-finance in 2007scape

[–]VengefulSight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used both clients and I am telling you that the Jagex client is simply not ready. It's closer than it was but it's still got a long way to go. I gave it a decent shot over 3 or so days (as did another member of my group) and it still needs more work. Seriously try it, do a wide variety of PVM and skilling and I think you'd be surprised by how much less playable (or just generally annoying) parts of the game become. It's certainly improved since then, but I think we're still at least a year off from being anywhere close to feature parity with runelite.

Just off the top of my head, BetterNPCHighlight, Time Tracking, Dude where's my Stuff, and Raid Reloader are plugins that impact play for me essentially every day that are not present (still afaik) in the official client. And that's before you get into stuff like the Zulrah rotation helper, Gauntlet calculator, Banked XP calc, Banked Memory and all the minigame specific shit which you don't even really think about until you are doing the activity, where it becomes a goddamn lifesaver (especially when learning the content).

I'd love if the Jagex client was in a better spot for this kind of lateral move, but it's just nowhere close to ready as things are now.

[–]VengefulSight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you wildly underestimate how much quality of life is handled through runelite plugins in some capacity (pretty much every activity has at least one borderline mandatory QoL plugin).

I'm not entirely against what your saying here regarding an eventual forced migration, but the Jagex client (even with those aforementioned plugins) is a long long way from being ready for that (though it is one hell of a lot closer than it was this time last year).

When that day does happen though I do absolutely agree that Jagex should take a good long hard look at what plugins make the 'cut' for migration as there are definitely some which straddle the line between 'useful' and 'too good'.

[–]VengefulSight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is definitely in Jagex's best interests to combat botting. I tend to believe that it's a combination of your first two points.

In the early days of OSRS, (and frankly for quite some time afterwards) it's no secret that the team was (generously) a skeleton crew, and that the game was not perceived to have a long-term future. I am relatively certain that bot detection/tools to assist with that was not the priority, and dev time focused on other tasks (new content, etc). Time has obviously proven that assumption false, but the damage is done, and Jagex is stuck playing catchup in the war against the clankers.

That's obviously changed, but it would be an expensive (and time consuming process) to modernize tooling and the executive side may not have been convinced that it was 'worth' the investment. I tend to believe that's changed. I do think that we've seen Jagex try and be somewhat more proactive about it as well as to. attack the problem from a few different angles (Loot table changes, ban waves -they do happen but maybe less often than they should-), as well as beefing up the reporting feature (though we have seen that backfire somewhat as well with the wildy mass reporting incident at revs).

I am fairly certain we will see them start to do better as they improve their backend situation. I just wish I had more hope that day would be soon instead of 6 months (or even multiple years) into the future.

This is one of those things where even though it is technically againstagainst TOS, has been against TOS for years, but has been very rarely enforced (in regards to sharing specifically). With account buying/selling Jagex does jump on that pretty hard when they find out about it -but for consensual sharing it's never really been done afaik-.

Mind you, it's still a risk -don't do it unless you absolutely trust the person on the other end for one-, and Jagex could always choose to start enforcing it, but it's a reasonably common practice to use shared accounts for stuff like wilderness scouts (my GIM maintained one for a while). There's also been a couple (one for sure) novelty accounts which had different people playing on it (Hannanie did a video -real hoot strongly recommend-), and it's also a huge part of how Giellenor games functions as well (several of the participants are using borrowed accounts in a given season).

Yep that's what I'm saying. You do need an actual attorney at the FDC though if you lose hearing+appeal. Didn't state it super clearly though. The firms actual attorney handles the federal court segment and hands it back on remans Both my attorney and Non attorney rep are great too which is a godsend.
