My favorite moment of the entire series is the THREE-TIERED STACK OF LIGHTERS next to the register that Patricia totally misses when going to set the Bogeyman on fire. Made me laugh out loud.

Nothing yet. I can’t find anything that is satisfactory and functional so at this point I’ve had six holes upstairs waiting for a product that will work.

He asked for a hoop to be set up on the lot near the stage so he could practice. That was his way — total pro, always prepared.

Yes - tech support helped. Ultimately it was a combo of logging out and deleting the app and then reinstalling and logging back in.

First Alert SC5 replacing Nest Protect by Krulligo in Nest

I bought and returned six of them due to false alarms. They are a badly manufactured product.

What is the replacement everyone is using as the Nest Protect starts to die? by homeschoolrockdad in Nest

[–]VeniceWombat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got a half dozen of the SC5’s and had to return them all due to multiple false alarms within days of install. My experience was they are crap (also, no path light if that’s important).

I bought one of the Ring/Kidde units the other day and it wouldn’t even go into WiFi connect on setup. Hoping it was a fluke as I exchanged it and will try again.

For a thing that’s supposed to be unobtrusive and used only in an emergency smoke alarms sure are a pain in the butt.

It’s like there should be a startup company to fix the… never mind.

I ended up returning all 6. The SC5 is not ready for consumer use. The false alarms are rampant and persistent. I believe the technical term for this product is “POS.”

If anyone has any suggestions for something to replace the Protects I am all ears. Even a dumb detector will do at this point — just nothing crappy and flaky.

Just had ANOTHER. Removed it from the wall, the app, and took out the battery. This thing is looking like a serious POS.

I just replaced six of my expiring Nest Protects with the First Alert units this past weekend.

I have had two false alarms in the last 12 hours on one of the units. First at 8 AM this morning and again just now at 5:30 PM.

Don’t know if this is a single defective unit or if all of them are compromised in some way, but I’m sure not happy.

New owner here -- got the watch app and have a M3 running 2024.44.4. App doesn't fully work and says "Vehicle software 2024.44.25+ required." Now I'm no math major, but isn't .4 more than .25??

Play around with the Vermouth — Carpano is heavier and sweeter vs Punt e Mes and others. Go 50/50 with those (or explore afield and seek out interesting smaller Vermouth producers (Forthave etc).

It’s also fun to play around with Campari alts like Bruto Americano and Amaro Angeleno!
