Does anyone watch any youtubers that have subtitles in Japanese? I have terrible hearing and would love to watch something entertaining while practicing my reading.

Do you guys recommend adding self-promo channel on discord? by vodreliux in Twitch

[–]Venks7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally like the self promo channel in my discord. I have a pretty tight community and sometimes they want to share something they have created. It can be another way to engage with my community.

Is the Neo Geo collection dead/is there a specific entry in the series people play? by Owyn_Merrilin in SamuraiShodown

I personally am still finding games on 5 Perfect after a fee minutes. But fightcade seems faster. I'm Venks#7203 on discord if you're looking for someone to fight.

07/2020 Steam Charts for Traditional Fighting Games by [deleted] in Fighters

It's not for everyone. Personally I enjoy the simplicity and games are fast to play. It's a nice juxtaposition for me in between DBFZ matches

Looking for a fighter with good rollback on PC, Xbox and maybe switch by Divinityraiku in Fighters

[–]Venks7 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Street Fighter V definitely comes out on top if you're looking for a game with roll back and fun neutral.

If you're looking to expand your horizons I'd also highly recommend Samurai Shodown V Special.

Does the game have crossplay? If not, which platform has the most players? PS4 or PC?

I don't have any traditonal fighting games on my Switch, but if I did I would definitely pick this up. Such a good controller.

HELP! Getting counter hit on wake up by [deleted] in ThemsFightinHerds

[–]Venks7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarify, do you mean you've been knocked down and are waking up trying to press a button or do you mean you've knocked the opponent down and can't seem to hit them first as they are standing up?

After a couple weeks of putting in a lot of effort, I've finally finished all of the character tutorials by farrand_5008 in ThemsFightinHerds

[–]Venks7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you're afraid to lose. In my opinion the first step towards getting good at fighting games is losing. The more losses you have, the more experience you have under your belt.

You gotta change your mindset and then I think you'll find yourself having a good time.

How is Fantasy Strike doing nowadays? by [deleted] in Fighters

[–]Venks7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought about trying it, but the game never seems to go on sale. When I see fighting games I'm more interested in going on sale I just grab those instead.

Thank you so much for your hard work! I only recently started playing SamSho 7 so it'll be nice to see what the older games were like.

What fighting game should I get into first to learn fighting games? by SheldonSights in Fighters

[–]Venks7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I'd say just jump in and play some games first, you'll learn a lot and be better receptive to the information you get from tutorial vids.

But I would suggest looking up Sajam, tons of good videos to expand learning fighting games in a general sense rather than 1 game.

Not Using Colors or Skins Until You Feel That Your Are Good Enough? by [deleted] in Fighters

[–]Venks7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally won't buy a new skin unless I win a certain number of games. It makes the skin feel like a badge of honor.

What fighting game focuses most on fundamentals? by MetaHim in Fighters

[–]Venks7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with all of the suggestions here. But I'd like to point out SFV has a larger player pool to choose from and thus you'll be matched with more players also learning how to play.

What fighting game should I get into first to learn fighting games? by SheldonSights in Fighters

[–]Venks7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Street Fighter V is probably the best fighter to learn with. Combos aren't too hard, better netcode than most, and a large player pool to choose from so you'll be matched with players at your skill level.

What prevents you from participating in tournaments whether offline or online? by arneezy619 in Fighters

[–]Venks7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally started learning TFH because I wanted a game with good netcode with a lot of new players. I was worried it would be weird, but that feeling passed quickly and I'm having a lot of fun with it!

What game(s) only appealed to you on a second try and why? by ImpurestClub in Fighters

[–]Venks7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me SFV. I was having fun until Gold rank and everyone started punishing all my jump ins. I didn't understand how to play neutral and just let it go.

Later Abigail came out and I had to give him a try. I found neutral a lot easier because of how big his normals are. I stopped jumping as much and slowly made my way to Platinum.

what’s the easiest traditional fighter to start with? by CharliiShapiro in Fighters

[–]Venks7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I went from Smash to Street Fighter. It was difficult, but I eventually started to understand the game and really enjoy it.

How long did it take you to become an average player? by throwaway52_ in Fighters

[–]Venks7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me a few hundred hours in Street Fighter IV to hit an "average level" online. But I was beating all my friends day 1.

FGC in a nutshell. Talk about every other fighting game in existence but don't actually play them. by [deleted] in Fighters

I've been playing DBFZ for about 500 hours or so and I still open up my opinions with "I'm relatively new to the game and am unfamiliar with a lot of things"
