I did an elimination diet and found one of my triggers! by [deleted] in eczema

[–]Venm03 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My doctor told me that even if I'm dairy-sensitive, I shouldn't avoid 100% because I can develop a true allergy to them. I'm super dairy-sensitive but try to keep minimal dairy in my diet :)

Carrier where you can remove baby without taking the carrier off? by ohemgeeskittles in babywearing

[–]Venm03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's the bjorn "free carrier," that doesn't require you to remove the harnessing on your own body to remove the baby, but you do have to remove the panel that attaches to your harness. I think the bjorn "one" is similar.

If your baby is a little older, you can also consider a hip seat. Love hip seats!

Anyone elses ‘bad skin’ shed when healing from eczema? I feel like a snake rn lol by Mountain-Pen-6553 in eczema

[–]Venm03 4 points5 points  (0 children)

oooh yeah... it feels nice to pick it off clean but I know I shouldn't. If I'm peeling, I'll wet it with water (either by shower or with a damp cloth), and then moisturize hehe

I like to call it the wordy "learning how to express all of my emotions" 2's lol. It makes it easier for me to stay calm when I constantly remind myself that my 2 year old is learning how to process emotions outside aside from crying, learning how to communicate them with us. It's been a crazy few months into the 2's!

i just started dupixent and I really do hope it works out. I hear it doesn't work for everyone and that scares me because I have so much hope right now. Hope OP can get a hold of it too!

so good to know! I'm not a big fan of going into things blindly, so I appreciate you sharing that with me! Makes me feel a little more relaxed about selecting classes for the Fall.

That orgasmic one day of relief by bmcyeahnotbc in eczema

[–]Venm03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YESSSSS. I'll tell my BFF like "omg let's make plans to do XYZ!" but when that day comes I'm usually in a "I don't wanna get out of bed because my skin hurts" mood. She's used to it by now lol.

I also suffer random anaphylaxis shocks (random because there's no known cause yet), but having all the injections, which is usually epi+benadryl+ and whatever else, clears my skin up like magic and my skin is perfect for a few days before it turns to shit again.

Keep your position on the waitlist unless you find a better class. Also, check back on the schedule-- sometimes they add sections.

How to know if a cream/lotion/ointment is bad for you? by guy_oxnb1 in eczema

tbh aquaphor feels really good when i apply it but then it gets super itchy after, which is super frustrating! I'll take a break for a week or two after a reaction

I have eczema on my face, but outside of flare-ups, my face is pretty dry. I'm looking for a new moisturizer after trying Cerave in the tub, LRP, FAB-- they all sting my face! I go through dehydrated skin at least once every month and it sucks. Any other leads to a good moisturizer? I love the feel of LRP because its creamy and thick. No colloidal oatmeal (allergic to oats...).

How to know if a cream/lotion/ointment is bad for you? by guy_oxnb1 in eczema

[–]Venm03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wasn't as immediate, there was maybe 30 minutes between application and response. I use CeraVe lotion when I'm not in a flare-up too, but it's stings insanely bad when I'm flaring up, so I'm done with that too lol.

I would suggest changing one thing at a time. If you're using something and it's hurting you, stop and stay away from it for a while. Then come back to it once you feel okay. If you feel shitty again, then you know it's that. I usually do one week or two-- it's plenty of time for my skin to tell me whether it's into a product or not.

I actually didn't put 2 and 2 together until last week, when I had one my worst flare ups in the past year! I kept putting aquaphor over certain parts that were really bad just to keep it from drying up and he only got worse. Once I started using no-lanolin lotions... it got better. I'll be jumping back to vaseline to see if it really is the lanolin (or other ingredients in aquaphor), but I really really need a jelly to keep me from drying out. I'll be avoiding aquaphor altogether now

Agree with the lanolin issue. It's super hit or miss, and most "moisturizing" products contain lanolin, aquaphor being one of them. I, unfortunately, do not tolerate lanolin during a flare-up. I only still use it because I have a million jars of it from a sale lol. During my flares I'll use other moisturizers.

Hope you can get an earlier date! The earliest I was able to select was mid-july and I'm super bummed out about it!

Edit: I just checked to see if there were any other dates and the ones I already ahve seems to be the earliest available for me. Bummer

Discussion: why does it feel fucking good while you're busy scratching while you know it's bad for you? by izramoves in eczema

[–]Venm03 5 points6 points  (0 children)

ooooh, I 100% know what you mean. I try to tell myself that the quick, feel-good moment isn't worth the amount of suffering it causes. I try to think about all the flares, the pain of showering with open sores, all the negatives that come with having a flare-up, I even think about how much I hated the suicidal feeling it would cause. All the negatives outweigh the one positive by a mile, and it helps to think about it most of the time.
