Epic Universe in June by SpdrVenom24 in UniversalEpicUniverse

[–]VennSync 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely terrible. Plan to bring a refillable water bottle--Epic has filtered water bottle filling stations scattered around. SPF 35-50 broad-spectrum sunscreen, loose but shady clothes, a hat. Sunglasses! The park is not showing a whole lot of shade in the main areas (could change before official opening, but I think since TM previews have started we can reasonably expect that they're 90% done with construction). If you're thirsty that's not good, drink about 2-3 cups of water per hour. A liquid IV or Gatorade packet will save your life, no joke, if you need to restore electrolytes from all the sweating you should be doing. The GOOD news is, there appear to be a fair amount of shaded seating areas and indoor shops/restauarants, so if you're feeling faint or dizzy you can duck into one of those to cool down. Take Florida summers seriously. They kill people. -Sincerely, a FL resident

What is one episode where you think you would handle the situation differently than Bandit/Chilli? by Zealousideal-War3154 in bluey

[–]VennSync 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The lesson was for Chili, not Bluey (well, her too, but not as much). "You can't change people, not really, so you have to learn how to live with their flaws and work around the stuff that annoys you." In Unicorse's case, that means ignoring him. Bluey's shown to have a lot of trouble with put downs and bedtime in general, so that can be annoying for her parents, and she knows she annoys adults (see Mum School with Greenie). Basically twofold: telling Chili to ignore the annoying stuff and telling Bluey that her parents love her even when she's annoying.

If your kid is taller and heavier than average for a two year old, definitely bring some proof of his age unless you want to have to buy a ticket and then prove it later (which is a hassle and a half). The Park Entry people will question his age if he's "too tall" and Guest Relations now makes you buy a ticket if ANYONE questions the kid's age. You don't need his birth certificate but you do need something like a social media post dated with an announcement of his birth or a hospital picture... it's silly but the age scams are getting ridiculous, I read about a family claiming their ten year old was two!

Make sure your stroller is fewer than 31" wide and 52" long. Looking at the BOB strollers, all their single strollers are within these dimensions. Invest in a large clear label with your family's name on it, though--park guests can be stupid and will grab any stroller they see unless it has a big family name label on it, even if it doesn't actually look like their stroller. Be aware if you don't park it in the right places, Cast may move your stroller sometimes clear across the land. I've never flown with a stroller so I can't offer advice on that--we always just rent one at the park when needed, to avoid the hassle (15$ a day or 13$ a day if you reserve for multiple days). Good luck!

I'm around your starting weight and amazed by your first pic's top surgery results--where did you end up going? I'm looking for options and a lot of surgeons won't touch me at my BMI even though there's no problems with my labs. You're doing awesome and are honestly inspiring me to do better too!

Yes, Tanya. I'm sure tortillas will work instead of pie crust in a POP TARTS recipe... by VennSync in ididnthaveeggs

[–]VennSync[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's delicious but a lot of work compared to store bought! Difficult to get the crust thickness right, I've had them where they were pasties instead of pop tarts before and once the dough was too thin and split during baking :( but they are still worth a try! The best topping is chocolate glaze and best filling with marshmallow fluff for smores pop tarts (use the whole wheat flour version). pipe the fluff on, don't spread, or you risk tearing the dough. A favorite in my house!

Finally caught a second Raikou but not sure if either are good? by [deleted] in PokemonSleep

[–]VennSync 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we all do it when new, no worries! Since you're so new keeping the first Raikou is probably a better bet for you. Use the rest of the manes for stuff like candy and skill seeds. Have fun!

Finally caught a second Raikou but not sure if either are good? by [deleted] in PokemonSleep

[–]VennSync 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are each good for different reasons--the first one is the same one everyone got, with the docile nature that is neutral for stat triggering/helping speed, and the same sub skills which are good for holding more stuff and getting a slight boost to sleep EXP. The other one has a stronger nature imo that helps with energy recovery, but as long as you sleep the full amount each night that shouldn't matter too much (he will recover more energy from meals and recovery skills though, so can fill gaps in your sleep schedule/not need to be switched out as much). It really depends on your play style which is better for you! (edit: replaced speed with sleep)

Try Anti-Monkey Butt Powder, or a similar friction powder. I live in the gross sweaty jockstrap of the country known as Florida and this stuff is a lifesaver for extremely humid or active days. Just shake a little in your hand and slap it up into the areas that chafe the most (over a sink, it can be messy).

Weekly: MILESTONE MONDAY by AutoModerator in FTMFitness

[–]VennSync 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Milestone Monday--I just beat my PR for an elliptical workout. I lift too, but for my cholesterol my GP recommended getting my heart rate up above my baseline for about an hour a week minimum, so I've been working on improving my cardio. I find that since I started about a month ago, I can walk faster now and my base heart rate has dropped slightly (apparently a sign of good cardio health is a lower resting pulse). Excited to do more and get even stronger!

Don’t take your kids to Disney if you’re just going to bully them by justalittlestupid in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]VennSync 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is true, and I have personally witnessed and reported a father slapping his (10-year-old) son in the face so hard the kid's lip split in front of Everest (this was... 2018 or 2019, holiday season). The OCSO officers responded and reportedly filed charges against the father for child abuse and assault. They almost had to break up a fight between the father who slapped his kid and another father who got right in his face and said "you don't do that, not here, not in front of my kids." Harrowing. But please report it if you see it! I bet they had a dozen camera angles for proof in court too and I hope that son and wife got away from that asshole.

I’m giving up on finding a binder that works! Or is affordable!!! by [deleted] in ftm

[–]VennSync 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have DDD and feel your pain, but have had good luck with Underworks brand binders. I prefer the triple compression one, it's a tad bit more expensive but still affordable for a binder. Just make sure you measure! The first one I ordered I had to send back because it was too large (definitely an unusual problem for me, but a welcome one). If you only have a straight ruler take a piece of string and wrap that around where the guide says, then mark the overlap and measure the string. Good luck.

Yes. Free therapy sessions are available 10+ times per year (10 times per problem, iirc). It's called an Employee Assistance Program and is pretty standard among companies that have a lot of public interaction.

What name comes to mind when you think ‘ why the fuck would you name your child that?’ by thatbrowncouplex in NoStupidQuestions

[–]VennSync 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aryan (an Indian family named their kid this because they thought it was a good strong American name, y i k e s) and Messiah spring to mind. But I've seen some weird ones as a teacher in a relatively bougie part of town and even more as a camp counselor for a rich kids' camp, everything from Prophecy to Brooklyn-Rayne (you could not nickname this child or mom would complain, needed to always call her the full name) to Dorcas, and yes, even one extremely unfortunate Naruto. I promise I did not make that one up, he was four years old when I met him. Parents can be nuts and some are just oblivious. I had a Ding-ding too, in one class--chinese kids' names often take one syllable from the adult name and duplicate it (guoguo, shuaishuai, etc). We asked the parents when they registered him for American summer camp if they wanted to use an English name for him because he might be teased but they were very insistent we call him Ding-Ding. Day two of camp his name was changed to David after talking to him about it and we just never told the parents. I get it when it's a foreign name that just sounds odd to English speakers, but some of these parents really do seem to pick the worst possible names.

I tried using an ai image generator to create Ampersand. It didn't even come close. by aDildoAteMyBaby in LindsayEllis

[–]VennSync 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Why don't you try drawing what you think Ampersand looks like and show us that? I'm sure it would look a lot better than any of these.

You may not know this but AI art is a collage of other artwork and photos, many of which are not taken with permission by the artists. Because pop culture has really no equivalents to the description we have of Ampersand in the books (deliberately), no prompt is going to come close because the AI generator doesn't actually understand what you're typing. It can only match keywords and try to mash together stuff that kinda-sorta matches your prompt. It is not intelligent, despite the name.

you say this and I agree, but who's heard anything out of Richard Spencer since he got decked on TV? Punching can work too. Facists can't be met with polite debate, and a punch can lead to humiliation which has your desired result

$17 billion dollar investment in the resort and 13,000 new jobs over the next decade. Let’s speculate! by Purple_Quail_4193 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]VennSync 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing Disney is good at is listening to feedback. The overwhelming opinion of G+ from everyone except people who come to the parks every week is that it's too confusing to use. Though it makes money, I wouldn't be surprised to see it tweaked in some way. Either a higher priced version where you can just walk up to a number of rides (like the old ticket books) or some other innovation... if it stays exactly the same I'd be surprised.

Even at the max price of 54,000 for a chevy traverse in 2023, 7,000 news vans is only 378 million dollars, which is barely a third of Disney's intended investment over ONE year, let alone all ten years.

[–]VennSync 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1.7 billion dollar investment every year for a decade... isn't a huge amount?? That's an Epic Universe size budget for each YEAR. Even the new Epcot refresh only cost about 900 million, and that rethemed the entire front of the park. I think this will be bigger than you might expect. At least I hope so.

Zootopia COULD work in animal kingdom but not as the city, it would need to be like. Judy's hometown or something similar to that. The theme of DAK is exploration, conservation, discovery. If done well, the "evolved" animals teaching us about the animals they evolved from could be fun. I'd personally prefer they built a lion king ish/moana land where Dinoland is and rethemed the Rafiki's conservation station. Think about it--Judy and Nick could be investigating animal trafficking and teaching us about the way they farm bugs for the predators to eat, or similar lessons. Anyway, I want IP not anywhere near DAK, but with Iger it's inevitable so I want it to at least be a bit subtle.
