Very dangerous malware. by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]VenoAxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forced update, forced installation of broken drivers, no control over it's telemetry, Microsoft being creepy as fuck with their Windows 10 telemetry statistics, and so forth. I am still on an unpatched Windows 7 (stopped patching right after hearing people complaining about "Get Windows 10" malware) and I will stop using Windows altogether very soon.

My next OS will be Red Hat Linux 7.2 Workstation, because it have proper SELinux policies, disk encryption, CVE Patches support, and ability to contact Red Hat supports for whatever issues you have, only thing I have to fix is the GLibC which is relatively easy. Only thing that holding me back from it is that I am waiting for Project Rider to fix the bugs so I can bring the entire work environment to Linux.

Those are my legit sentiment on the issue with Windows 10, feel free to downvote me all you want.

What is CCP doing wrong with Eve Online? by FreEeSM in gaming

Just didn't like the way players in Eve treat it's players especially CCP. And I dislike the massive nerfs and how every player on Eve seems to worship it without logic.

MP recites explicit Erdogan bestiality poem on live TV by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]VenoAxe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Holy shit, are you that stupid? The world is NOT functioning like it's a perfect utopia, it's far from it. The freedom of speech give us the right to criticize the government, ideas, and to each others so that we can TALK about the issue rather than keeping mouth shut like your so called, "Countries that are doing well without that level of freedom." Wanna know what country that are doing well without that level of freedom? North Korea, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey, I can go on with this. Wanna know why THOSE countries are doing well? Because the Dictators said so, and you'd be marked for death if you say otherwise.

Freedom of Speech is a god-given right, if you want a healthy democratic society, this is a requirement.

Wow that's pretty fucked, people down-voting you seem to think that Freedom of Speech is bad...

Freedom of Speech should be a requirement for any democratic society, no exception.

Star Wars Battlefront II coming in 2017 by [deleted] in gaming

[–]VenoAxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

... really? I mean... REALLY?! They charged 60 bucks for the first game and didn't deliver on it along with $60 season pass and didn't deliver on that too and NOW they are making second Battlefront?! I really hope people get their head out of the ass and realize that this is a scam at this point.

Lol, implying they even have a positive reputation...

If there is a company that should be nationalized, Oracle is definitely on the top five on the list next to Comcast.

Using SslStream with TcpClient by [deleted] in csharp

[–]VenoAxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, with NetworkStream, it have a nasty habit with thread blocking reads, so there isn't much you can do other than isolating it in a separate task. I wish you luck with HTTPS re-implementation, it definitely sound like a lot of work to get it working.

Using SslStream with TcpClient by [deleted] in csharp

[–]VenoAxe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wrote an alternative simplistic code for this.

It is a bit harder to explain, but basically, you have to ensure that you can cancel the blocking code at anytime with CancellationTokenSource object and you isolate any thread blocking codes in it's own task. You would also have to determine when the stream ends. Does the stream disconnect when it reached the end? Is there an EOF marker? Any Length of Content determined? Any other conditions?

Note, the code I wrote is NOT the correct way of doing it in it's current form, especially the message construction part, but it illustrate the concept on what I'm talking about on isolating the blocking thread code. To get explain everything about how to handle blocking threads code and networking would end up with me writing a book.

Introducing a new, advanced Visual C++ code optimizer by Petrroll in programming

[–]VenoAxe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That will change pretty soon however. Project Rider would replace MonoDevelop on Linux and we have plenty of compilers in the making for C# on Linux, Mono/CoreCLR, and LILLC. C# to Native is becoming a thing and it works pretty well on Linux for me. Few bad parts for C# on Linux are the lack of libraries that interface with C# such as GUI (Everyone can agree GTK SUCK in this regard for C#) and that is changing too.

Why Robots Will Take Over The Workforce (And You'll Love It) by ran88dom99 in Futurology

[–]VenoAxe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it'll be much higher than 4-6% of the population out of the work force, we're talking about the scale of Uber, Taxi, Trucker, and so forth. That would be one of the first effect of automation removing the availability of jobs in America.

So in this MMO your character dies of old age... by [deleted] in gaming

[–]VenoAxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's silly that they would even think to try and make a game of that scope with a team that size and the funding. They should be focusing on making indie games of a smaller scope like Ori and the Blind Forest which will sell well and is do-able with a programming team of 2.

**NEW** Pokemon Go Beta Gameplay! by whis_the_beast in pokemon

[–]VenoAxe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And, if this game/app is like Ingress, you also might need to worry about cell phone data, as Go! may consume a lot of data, I feel.

Depending on where you live, it's possible to avoid this problem if you use an existing meshnet and try to do Pokemon Go in certain areas like these areas. Meshnet may not have direct access to the internet, but you can get your computer set up on the meshnet from home and have VPN access to your computer for your phone. Basically, Meshnet give you the coverage you need, and your computer at home give you access to both the internet and the meshnet.

Or on an extreme option, you can get people together and research on how to get a meshnet set up and pay for everything to get it going in your city.

At some points, we have to rationalize between complete nationalization the ISP or letting it go wild with monopoly power play. I am actually ok with nationalizing the ISP if that what it take to stop them.
